For those daring enought to enter the world of casino operations, this book is a must read. It is filled with a carefully laid out analysis and explanation of the casino operations. This is a subject that is extremely difficult to find actual documentation regarding such simple things as net win. A first rate choice for the casino operator.

Finally breaking the myth
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2000-09-07
This book gives a thorough insight into how relationships between companies work and how they either sustain or break down. It also breaks the myth of differences in relationships between Japan and 'the West', as the book indicates that relationship in the three continents work quite the same. Quite a new proposition, I think!

The insights of this book will give managers a tool for how they can build successful relationships and how they can improve it. Also students will benefit from this book, as it combines theory and practise in an easy manner. A 'have to read' for anyone who wants to build business relationships that go beyond contracts.

Being a Mexican Tax Lawyer that has been involved in helping management decide whether uncertain tax position's taken by the companies meet the more likely than not threshold, I had the necessity to deepen my understanding on how FIN 48 works along FASB statement 109. This book is so well written that even as a lawyer I was able to grasp some of the more complex accounting issues. I really don't know how a US accountant would view the book, but for me it was all I was looking for, deep, concise, and easy to read.

A call to sales action & change
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-18
Three of North America's most respected sales leaders present a call to action urging companies and salespeople to change behaviors to keep up with a modern competitive business environment: this call isn't unusual; but what is unusual is its result: CHAMPIONSHIP SELLING; A BLUEPRINT FOR WINNING WITH TODAY'S CONSUMER. The book emphasizes that business building strategies need to be at the top of the drive for business success - and it tells how to hone customer-focused processes to do so. Chapters focus on common barriers to communications and effective listening, and how they may be overcome. This isn't just theory, either: the authors have worked with businesses and presented the principles of CHAMPIONSHIP SELLING, to see businesses increase by 30% or more.

I have read many other China investing books but I was particularly looking forward to this one mainly because I am a subscriber to Hsu's newsletters as well. I would say this is a good book for anyone interested in China and the opportunities it offers. As a subscriber I enjoyed the more detailed look at themes he merely touches on in his newsletters. Many of the topics he discusses in the book are not found in his other publications, so I was able to enjoy the new information.

This isn't an easy read and you'll be checking the list of acronymns in the back of the book frequently. Still, this is the only book that discusses the evolution of the financial markets in China. It was published in 2003, so many things have changed.

couldn't live without it

I happened upon this book at a friend's house. After taking a course on bookkeeping in order to get ahead in my job, I still found myself unable to fully grasp the complexity of the topic. Also, this course wasn't the most interesting topic, which might have been the real problem. If you seriously need to understand bookkeeping, forget about the course, and read this book.
