A war within us all ...you capture what we all feel..what we all have questioned.

This being was going to write you and say, "just finished the book"... this is incorrect in saying this.. for this is a never ending reality in which one awakens to the reality of ones self in a continuous state of being..of living. always a new.
There are many journeys to this reality yet so few are making ... the "Full circle".. so we keep coming in and out until what? we get ..get what? the reality of being.. the completeness within the complete itself...
I am LOVE, I choose Love this Love for i now know choice... Yet I choose for I have been in the battle fields within the hate, the beatings and sleepless nights throughout this childhood. I have been the hate of self hate ..the torture of self inflicted pain and suffering from anther's suffering... i have been the homeless the self centeredness and victim... it is only through this acceptance that i may be who i am now.. awake..and the desire to challenge the bitch of reality... the reality to all this is to unlearn all the bull and to reach for the truth and heal and then unheal the illusions within the illusions.
This books depicts of great..courage within and without... and the soo many journeys we pick ...we choose... or not even aware of the choosing.. what a game.. a circus i might add... giggle..giggle... Once again this being is faced with another undoing with this suffering.. for with this suffering it is taken beyond the suffering i thought was the reality... this being has gone far before the childhood.. into nightmares and more illusions of itself..i also was labeled as ptsd.... what a label... been through alll the therapy and i choose to still go.. even though now i am labeled as not having this label...giggle..giggle.. why do i go? to push it to see how far..i can go.... this being relates to you..in many ways ..why should we not... for we all are the same.
when you speak of the child within... well this is a subject of much understanding... as the whole in the book itself...
you write what i feel what we all feel.. what we all question.. .. in the writings i have.. it is the same.. different.. place.. different time.. yet same place same moment... This being Knows where you are...and I choose to know you.. in love.... how grateful this girl is in this moment to be "our " book ..in love... in joy and truth.. and in honor ..honoring yourself... whom you may choose to create at any giving moment... and to see the hate the pain the suffering from the outside world... it allows us to to feel ..to cry and to know....what a blessed day it is... to embrace this knowledge .. of understanding..... none of us are alone.

The Guts of Enlightenment
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2006-10-09
John Healey is for real.

This is not a hearts and flowers story of awakening. If you are one of those convinced that enlightenment is crystal rivers and new age music and little cherubs on your shoulder, this book is not what you are looking for. Ironically, it is also exactly what you need to read.

Enlightenment is pretty stark. It is pretty awesome. It is pretty overwhelming and pretty overpowering. But it is not in the least bit pretty for the human being. This book is about that kind of enlightenment - the only true kind. Hell and back. Death and rebirth. Literally - not quaint little sayings. The real thing. And though John's encounter with the Absolute is not painted as the pretty picture which so many want to form in "their minds" about awakening, it was without a doubt written from direct experience of this most shattering of truths. Drawn from a "life situation" in which the cosmic joke ends up being that the war(s)in Somalia and Iraq worked significantly towards setting up the catalyst for "John's" liberation.

It is worth repeating - John Healey is for real. His journal is raw. This is not an easy book, and nor should it be. If you are ready to stop dabbling on the outskirts and prepared to encounter a genuine, unflinching modern account of the perils inherent in falling off of the path - especially if enlightenment is what "you" truly seek - you need to hear what John has to say.

A friend of mine gave me this book in 2003 after the birth of my first child. I write special moments in there (like the first time he said delicious or the first time he talked on the phone) as well having loved ones write in it for special occasions like birthdays, baptisms, family beach trips, etc. I'm using it now for my daughter as well and for their sweet and not-so-sweet sibling moments. A treasure both for mother and child.

'Baby Blessing' is a very special 'baby book' in which to record births and keep photograhs because it has been illustrated by Ms. Branch. Susan Branch's books are always so special as they not only contain her lovely watercolors drawings but also inspirational stories and quotations. This book will surely be a treasured heirloom to be enjoyed by future generations.

I just received my copy of "The Baby Naming Journal" today. We are preparing to start a family, and I wanted to get ahead of the game, if at all possible. What a unique book this is!! I was thrilled at all the options suggested for choosing baby's name. I think the best part is that it's not just a list of names. It's an interactive project for the expectant Mom and Dad. The Family Tree section is wonderful! Not only do I intend to complete this keepsake for our first child, but I will be sure to purchase a copy for all our children!

The Best Name Book Ever

I was so excited to discover this book. Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz are -- hands down -- the very best baby namers in the business and I have always found their advice to be extremely useful. Their previous books (including Beyond Jennifer and Jason & The Last Word on First Names) were far and away my favorite books when I was naming my first 3 children. Pamela and Linda are always funny and hip and all of their books make fine pregnancy reading. This newest book, though, is a real treasure. Not only is it a beautiful keepsake gift for us to be able to pass down to our next baby, but it created some special time for my husband and I to reflect on our family histories and what's really important to us and our future. It is a great book and one I will be giving to all the pregnant women I know and love.

Ah, I love this book - one of those simple, yet so great ideas! My 8-year old daughter and I share this journal, and we both are so excited when the journal appears on our bedside table - that means the other has written something just for us! This journal has helped my 8-year old express her feelings comfortably to me, not to mention documenting a journey for the both of us. A great gift idea for virtually any relationship!

Just like an author writing a novel or a painter trying to decide what colors to use, we as human beings need to sort things out as well and organize them. After getting Become A Better You, a friend of mine suggested the journal. I got it and boy did it help. After taking seven weeks to read the book (that is how it is laid out) and doing the journal, I was amazed at the results.

There before me was a complete restructuring of my life from where it was and where I wanted it to go. I was pleased with the result. I like how Joel simplifies the bible and puts the scriptures in plain text. I highly recommend this to anyone getting Become A Better You.

What a wonderful way to stay creatively inspired

If you loved the bood "Becoming a Chef" (and how could you not!), you will love having this journal on hand to record your growth as a culinary artist. Yes, it is primarily a blank book on which to record your thoughts, but it prompts you with pages to write about your food memories, major moments in your professional and creative development, restaurant reviews and experiences, etc. It also has unlined pages for sketching ideas and plating concepts, and the book is filled with honest and inspiring quotes and stories from some of the best known food pros of our time.

I have made it a point to give both books to newly promoted lead cooks and sous chefs, but if I had the money I would give them to all of my cooks. Writing about our dreams and taking a few moments every now and again to let our creativity flow onto a page is a great way to rescue ourselves from burnout. It also is fun to have a way to look back on our growth.

What I had searched for during my 1st trimester!
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2002-12-10
This pregnancy journal is just what I had been looking for all during my 1st trimester of pregnancy. It is simple and has a certain elegance about it. I am not attracted to all the cute cartoons and adorable illustrations on most of the baby-related things out there. That's okay for the baby, but I am an adult and felt like I wanted something that looked like it was for an adult. The binding has a off-white cloth cover over the edge, but the inside is spiral-bound, so it is easy to write in. I am a longtime journal writer, so this appealed to me and I wanted a timeless gift to give my baby one day when he/she is an adult. As the cover indicates, there are beautiful black & white photographs at the biginning of each section. The sections are divided by trimester and there are also sections titled: Considering Pregnancy and Bringing Baby Home. There are a few spots for photos, but not too many. Each trimester section has places to record your feelings, fears, questions for your monthly visits, qualities you want in your birth place and whoever delivers your baby and takes care of you in your prenatal months. (And many many more!)There is sufficient room for your thoughts and I would strongly recommend this journal if you are looking for a classic look.

I have bought this as a gift for 5 of my friends, and they all really love it. Most pregnancy journals are quite cheesy, and don't capture the unique and magical time of pregnancy. This book allows you to really write how you feel, rather than rely on cartoons and silly sentence starters like many other journals.

This is the only journal I have found that is so patriotic!

I love this Journal. It is my very favorite. The pages inside seem dusted with starlight and moonbeams because of Becky Kelly's neat drawings. I love Coco bear with the wand on the front. I think it is great that part of the artist's proceeds from the sale of this journal will be donated to charity. The picture on the front reminds me of how wonderful our country is!
