After I had hysterectomy 6 months ago, I started HRT as my doctor suggested. Then I started to worry about osteoporosis and began my search. I read another book about osteoporosis written by some M.D. I did not find the answer to my questions but I got very scared and felt I may have a fracture in any day now.

Then I read this book, mainly because of the many good reviews right on this site. Now the other book looks total trash to me. As other reviews states, this is by far the most ground-breaking medical related book I've ever read. I skip the detail because I would just repeat everyone else.

I'm very angry to my doctor who prescribed the HRT to me, knowing about the serious side effect( it's beyond side effect, it's a major effect), and if he didn't know about it, I would be angry all the same. He told me to take this for 9 years. I couldn't believe that this controversial trial happened several years ago and doctors still prescribe it for the same purpose.

This book made me realize that "Ask your doctor" "Talk to your doctor" commercials are just commercials, and that to doctors, I am merely another customer. Arm myself with the right knowledge may win in the end, but it's not at all easy to find the truly trustworthy medical information. So I was very lucky that I found this book, because if not, I'd still have continued that dangerous drug, and in 6 months who knows if I had a complication and died from it, nobody in my family would be suspicious about the drug I've been taking. And no doubt that I would have been depressed till the day I die.

I thank and have a great respect and appreciation to Ms. Sanson as well as to reviewers who took time to write an honest, genuine opinion in order to be beneficial to others.
I don't think I go see a doctor now, after I learned that those tests are not standardized internationally. How ridiculous is that I may be ill at one place and may be totally healthy at another place. (There are other amazing facts throughout the book.)

I'll try to maintain my body well using the suggestions from this book. I don't have to be told if I'm in what stage of illness with some unreliable method. I don't want to worry every day when I will be on a wheelchair. I just try to be careful with doing everything I can to prevent it, and there are plenty of it.

Must read for any woman prescribed Fosamax or Actonel.

This book is an eye-opener. You'll have a whole new perspective on bone care and a diagnosis of osteoporosis or osteopoenia. Invaluable information for managing your bone health that can make a difference. I am not only confident in my previous decision to stop medication, but am making important dietary change that I wish I had known about 40 years ago. You'll find that milk isn't what your thought it was!

I wish I had read this book first.

I wish I had read Gillian Sanson's book before I let a doctor talk me into taking one Boniva pill seven months ago. I had a terrible reaction and, because Boniva and all bisphosphonates stay in the body forever, I am still suffering from debilitating bone and joint pain. Ms. Sanson is right when she says not enough research has been done on bisphophonates. Her book provides a valuable public service. Now if only we can get doctors to read it.

Just read it!

This book completely changed my view about osteopenia and osteoporosis. Please, read it, specially if you're diagnosed osteopenia. I'm a very healthy woman and didn't have the habit or the necessity of taking any drugs since I discovered I have osteopenia. The doctor prescribed me Fosamax in order to try to avoid early osteoporosis. For the first time in my life I was taking a "serious" drug. I started to get fatter and fatter in my belly region. And then I read this book! It was my salvation and I'm back to normal healthy life.

When I was told I had osteopenia my (female) doctor handed me a prescription and a tri-fold pamphlet and told me to take calcium. When I went to the pharmacy to fill the prescription I asked the pharmacist to go over the potential side-effects of the drug with me. He looked at me like I had two heads. That was my introduction to becoming a "victim" of "bone disease". I went home and began to surf the Internet - searching for anything I could find on osteopenia and osteoporosis. And then I read this book! I came to the stunned realization that for most of my adult life I blindly followed doctor's orders, living in a sheep-like trance - plodding through life medicated at the whim of people who are bought and sold by Big Pharma. This is a ground-breaking book, filled not only with insight but hard facts. Thank God for Gillian Sanson.

I was impressed by this book- written well with incredible clarity and concepts that opened my mind to what it was about us that created the tensions, the disappointments and the frustrations in our love/romantic relationships. A couple of questions I am taking away from this book: What is my essence? What am I trying to hide or protect about myself from my partner that gets in the way of intimacy? What am I trying to get from my partner that I feel I'm not getting or have on my own and how is that getting in the way of transparency, love and intimacy with my partner? This is a must read for any one who wants to improve relationships with others---especially in the area of romantic love.

Most inspiring book I've ever read on how to date yourself and date others

I consider myself someone who is fairly thoughtful and has already made an effort around being spiritually grounded, self-aware and having healthy relationships. This book, however, sets up a pretty profound framework around these things and asks deep questions. It helped me get to a new level of thought about my relationship with myself as well as my romantic relationships. I got an immense amount of good out of this book. It helps peel back the layers and digs deep! After reading it, I bought several copies and handed them out to my closeset friends.

One of the best I've read on the subject

I work as a marriage & family therapist, and only happened upon this book after a few colleagues recommended it. This isn't a clinical book, rather it's far more accessible to anyone who's wanting more than a typical self-help book. "Undefended Love" goes far beyond the helpful observations about how human personalities are based on attachment, security, protection, and strategies to compensate for wounds. It goes beyond healthy,non-reactive closeness between a couple. It shows a path for couples to find deeper resources within themselves individually that can create a truer foundation for growth and vitality in all their relationships. It's not a quick-fix or easy path, but it does feel quite true and in sync with the newest findings in neuroscience and other psycho-spiritual paradigms. This is a wonderful book I can easily recommend.

This is an insightful and thought-provoking book. Great for a therapist, but also very accessible to the layperson. Takes you through some self-review that gets to the root of what triggers us when we have conflict in a relationship, and how to move past those triggers to real "undefended" love.

If you're looking to unravel a twisted up, convoluted, complicated, and painful relationship this is the book for you. It saved my 25+ year old marriage and has enhanced many other relationships as well. My friends got so tired of hearing me rave about the book that they bought their own copies and found their lives transformed as well. It ain't easy work dismantling a lifetime of armour--and don't let anyone tell you it is. But it's welllll worth the effort!!! And really, if you get just ONE thang from the book it will be worth the purchase price...and there's LOTS of thangs to get from the book. This is one you can read over and over again over the years and get something new from it each time. If you're looking for ONE book that hits all the nails on their heads THIS is the one...I've read soooo many books about following your bliss, passionate pursuit of one's dreams, making the impossible possible etc etc and this book is at the core of all of them. You dive into the work of this book and you too will see your life transformed--it's truly amazing. Go for it! peace love & joy Coco

Before I started reading this book, I was able to take part of a 24 hour prayer room. This book was in the prayer room, and I started reading just a little. Greig captured me within the first page. When I bought the book, I expected it to be a how-to kind of book, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Greig recounts how he started his prayer room, and how that kickstarted the prayer movement throughout Europe. He is very careful to give every bit of credit to God and people's capacity for God. It is a compelling story...not a how-to. Again, I was very pleasantly surprised, and I would recommend this book to anyone who has a heart for prayer or a desire to pray fiercefully.

This book is truly a testimony of God and how prayer is a way to meet with Him. It shows how prayer provides a way to get close enough to Him to touch His cloak. This book is not for someone who is wanting to know how to start a 24-7 prayer room, although there are ideas that are talked about throughout the book, and about how some were started. I was greatly encouraged while reading this book and it reminded me that God is big and loving; not always safe... but good.

Tale of an Amazing Journey of Awakening

Review Date: 2007-12-22
Red Moon Rising is the story of Peter Greig's work in Christian ministry in England and how that work led to founding and growth of the 24-7 Prayer movement. The book begins with the story of Greig's vision of a rising army while camping on the coast of Portugal and works through the first 24-7 prayer room in England, the strong and deep connection of the movement with the 1727 Moravian prayer community, the expansion of the movement into Germany and throughout Europe, onto the party Island of Iziba and finally to the founding of an intentional prayer community known as a Boiler Room.

This book isn't really a "how-to" book but rather a narrative that describes the work of the Holy Spirit and the journey of a group of friends that follow the Spirit's lead to create opportunities of young Christians throughout Europe (and older Christians as well) to reconnect to Christianity's ancient tradition of prayer expressed in ways that are both true to the tradition and relevant to the culture. Title of the book comes from Greig's continued drawing of inspiration from the prophetic passage of the second chapter of Joel that is repeated by Peter on the morning of Pentecost in the book of Acts. It is clear throughout the book that Greig sees this movement as a continued fulfillment of that prophecy and the stories he shares with his readers bear that out.

For me, the power of this book was found in it's ability to encourage me consider a life of radical prayer both personally and within my community. The stories of God's working through the people of this movement are truly stunning and humility of the leaders of the movement in their willingness to be faithful to the calling of the Spirit and to not usurp It's power for their own benefit is refreshing in a day when it seems that too many church leaders have lost sight that they act in God's providence rather than the other way around. Those looking for a "how-to" guide will need to get ahold of the 24-7 Manual as this text is light on details. However, this book provides the inspiration and the encouragement to do so. As I read each chapter, I found myself called to stop thinking about how to serve God and to start praying and calling others together in prayer.

I highly recommend this book to all Christians wondering if the Spirit still moves in our world and, if It does, how they can connect with It.

very soon. It was as if the Lord was talking directly to me. It is so loving, kind and gentle. I know that nothing in this world really matters
because it will all pass away. The only thing that reallly matters is the
love of God the Father. I felt that love when I read this book. I thank

The chapter about the great falling away was riviting. You realise the need you have to be very close to the Lord in these last days. Of all the books I've read, this is one of my favorites. Review Date: 2008-06-18
I have made it a habit this year to get through many of the classics on audio book during my daily commute. I picked Pilgrim's Progress since it was one of the most influential English books ever published, and I wanted to see what it was all about.

The audio book was published by Blackstone Audio and the reader was Robert Whitfield. The reader did an excellent job and was very easy to listen to. He did some characterization with his voice that made it easy to know which character was speaking. I was a little worried about the older style English, but it gave me no problem. It probably helps that I am familiar with the King James Version of the Bible. Overall, listening to this book worked out very well.

This is the first book length allegory that I have been through and I thought it was an excellent way to teach. There is no doubt which principal each character is supposed to represent by their name, and their actions represented that well also. I can understand why so many families had this book in their libraries. As far as Christian doctrine goes, there are a few things that some would disagree with, but most of the principals taught are still generally accepted today. The path to God's presence is filled with opposition, but there is help available and the reward is worth it.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to understand an important part of our heritage, and to see what an effective tool allegory is.

I love this book. It was written from a jail cell in the 1600s. This version is the original so the text is difficult to read at first but I would not want a watered down modernized version (which can be purchased). I find if I read in chunks it starts to flow nicely. The characters have names like, "Evangelist", "Piety", "Talkative", "Faith", etc. So you know just where someone is coming from. I have marked up this book with pencil just like I do my scriptures! It is like reading one long parable in story form! Cool book. I'm glad to have found it.

We've read this book to our son and he has really enjoyed it. He doesn't yet fully understand everything and we had to stop and explain a lot to him, but it is something that we plan on reading over and over again as our kids continue to grow.
I read a review that stated that a main flaw in this book was the lack of one on one relationship with Christ. I can understand what they are saying, but I think what you have to keep in mind is that while we are here on earth and in our day and age we do not physically see Christ. He was once here walking and living on this earth, but He is now in heaven. He uses other means now to maintain a personal relationship with us. For example, we can know Christ through His word and through prayer. Just as in the book, He often also sends other Christians along in our life to help us and encourage us. This book is a good example of a walk of faith. We can't see and physically touch Christ right now, but when we are in heaven we WILL see Him just as Bunyan talks about in the book. Christian persevered in his walk without physically seeing Christ and he was rewarded in the end for his faith. For now, how much greater our reward is for those who have not seen Him and yet believed!

I read this when I was a teenager and it made me cry for hours, in the best way possible. Her love for her daughter is indescribable -and even though she chooses to not undergo treatment, you know she's doing it for the right reasons. She wants to be able to live her life without being held back by treatments that make her sick and make her angry - she wants her daughter to love her and remember her before she loses her.

The poetry in the novel is beautiful. I have never found a book that can make me get so sentimental every time I read it. Please find this book and read it - and then pass it along to friends!!!!

"Tejano and Regional Mexican Music" by Ramiro Burr represents progress toward filling an information gap in Tejano Music. The book measures up in terms of providing authoritative information about a subject that's near and dear to many Tejanos, but that has not been adequately documented. It's a fascinating look at Tejano Music by a contemporary writer who is connected to the musicians themselves, their handlers, promoters and to the members of the media who cover the subject on a daily basis. As a writer for the San Antonio Express News, Ramiro is uniquely placed to gather and then spread current information on the subject, and he did exactly that in his book. But he also provides a historical perspective. The book is a real source for today's generation and for those who follow. Thanks Ramiro.

It's great to see that "Tejano And Regional Mexican Music" is available on Amazon.com and that it can be easily accessed by the thousands of Tejanos all over the world who are hungry for this type of information.

If you're a novice or beginner, this book will educate you fast, with fact-based bios, tons of info and ready made lists of what CDs to buy and listen to. Or, if you're a veteran you'll get much joy of reading interesting facts and juicy biographical info on your fave artists from trio and mariachii to Tejano and norteno legends. From Adalberto, Fama, Jay Perez to Los Lobos, it has it all. As Mr. Burr oftens says, the book is important because the history of a music, a culture or a country is incomplete unless everyone's contributions are documented. Finally Tex-Mex has its due recognition.JR

Recently while pondering over dinner ideas a co-worker said she had the answer and indeed she did. The next day she brought in her FAVORITE BRAND NAME COOKBOOK, and after skimming through it I realized I had to get my hands on one. The easy to follow reciepts made it very user friendly and all the ingredients needed were right in my cabinets. The one dish reciepts were quick and simple too. The unfortunate thing is I am unable to get one of my own, I have looked everywhere and have had no luck and my co-worker is not willing to sell hers so please REPRINT THE BEST COOKBOOK EVER ASAP!!!!

I have 100's of cookbooks and I always refer to this one as my bible. The recipes are easy to understand, and most of the time quick to put together! I use this book for anything, for holiday dinners, company to everyday. My mom got everyone in the family this book when it first came out. My kitchen was flooded and this is one of the books I lost and the only book my mom & I looked high and low to find and did on your web site. I am now getting the bible for my daughter who just moved on her own and has started her own collection of cookbooks, this one is her first request. This book is a must for every kitchen.

Great book!

I'm a French and I was looking for a cookbook easy to read because I'm not familiar with american recipes ( and I'm not fluent in english). This one is very complete and easy to do, I even find some french recipes! I think I will use it a lot and bring it back to France, it will complete my collection of french cookbooks. It's pretty amazing to find a cookbook where all the recipes are good and easy, and you can do lot of them with the same king of food or sauces, you don't have to buy 25 different spices for one recipe! It's a very good cookbook (my husband is agree with me!)and now I can really make dinners!

Help! I must have a replacement copy of this cookbook!

I put my husband though law shcool with this cookbook. Every other weekend before we were married, I would visit him at the U of Iowa. While he studied, I would prepare 10 different casseroles from this cookbook and freeze them. In 1996, shortly after we were married, the book was accidentally dropped in a sink full of sudsy water. I am still searching for a replacement. This book is a "cooking bible"!

Simply the best cookbook!!

I use this book above all others for get-togethers, last minute dishes, and dinners. I would love to purchase this book for my sister-in-law! She bought me this cookbook as a gift a few years ago and I'd like to give her a copy too. I have not found a recipe yet that my family hasn't LOVED! Please reprint this cookbook!

Some Good Stuff, Some Crazy Stuff

I studied at Cornucopia, a "school" Ken Keyes Jr. founded, in June of 1978. Here's what's good about Ken's ideas. 1)He wants you to focus on your own thinking, your own demands and expectations, so that you can lead a happier life. He says, correctly, that it's very difficult to change events and situations to make them fit your models of how things should be, so why not try and change the way you think about things--smacks of Stoicism, right? But there's more. 2) He has this plan, a bunch of things to do, intended to help you demand less and enjoy more. He wants you to memorize some...aphorisms, to shout out new thoughts into a bucket which is placed over your head (he calls it consciousness focusing), and so on. Yet here's where he's crazy. 1) He tries to explain something called "unconditional love." Now the word "love" as understood by 99.99999% of the population means "an attraction to something perceived as good." Inherent in this definition are conditions. We love ice cream because its condition is good, great tasting. We do not love being boiled in a cauldron. So unconditional love renders the word meaningless. 2)He uses these abstractions ubiquitously, such as "I am freeing myself from security, sensation, and power addictions which..." Say what? "Awakening beings" and "us space" and "cosmic" and "inner light [or wisdom]" are everywhere. Ken's ideas are often solid; I wish that he had a far more straightforward way of communicating them. Yet all in all it's worth wading through the thorns to get to the berries. There's enough good stuff in here to qualify it as a good read.

When I was first introduced to this book by a close friend, I read it. Then I ordered 3 more just so I could share it with my other friends. Of all the books I have read about love, relationships, and life, this is easily the most significant and I'd urge anyone looking for self improvement to read this at least once.

I purchased this book first in the mid 80's while I was laid up after an injury. I was deeply impacted by it and the messages about the levels of consciousness. I have to admit that I have not yet finished it. I continue to work my way through the first 5 levels, over and over again. This book impacts my life in how I interact and whenever I find that I am in "pain" I recognize this, look to where I am stuck and accept myself. I was amazed to find this book cited in one of my Graduate school classes. Apparently Ken was a quadriplegia, nothing in the book talked about this, and these messages of acceptance are important to those who work to overcome the impact of a disability on their life. I have purchased and given away numerous copies of this book. A must read!!

This is a pragmatic book. I first got this book back in the 70s. I didn't realize what a treasure this book is.

This book will simply teach you how to be successful and happy always. Successful as in let go of the emotional junk that keeps you held back, keeps you sleepy, and all that. Sounds hokey? Well, that's why I didn't read it for about 20 to 30 years. I skimmed it, saw one line in there which sounded "hokey" and didn't read it. However, I kept it; a feeling told me to keep it. Now that I have had major things happen in my life, new career, new kid, and new challenges, this book came to the rescue.

Let's be clear. Had I read this book 30 years ago, I would have saved myself a lifetime of different moments of pain and suffering.

I suggest you read it all the way through as fast as possible, reread it and apply what you learn while reading it the second time.
