Great read for the summer! Fast paced, historically pointed. Excellent action parts that leave you feeling as if your sitting in the co-pilots seat. Relive the days that flying once was. I couldn't put it down and had to read the book from cover to cover in one sitting. Well worth the buy to add to your collection of aviation related reads!

This is a well written, fast reading story that makes you sit up and think. While this may be a "fictional" story, it is based upon a situation that could really happen...or did it already happen? It's of great concern to think that this really could develop. With what's going on with the North Korean nuclear development now, we need to stop and think where they got the information to move ahead and develop their plans? Let's hope that Project Yellow Sky really is just fiction. A really big 5 stars from me.

I enjoyed reading this book! Being an average nobody like myself, I was drawn into the characters and story line immediately by the honesty of the dialog and the current nuclear threat that's going on in North Korea and how that might affect the U.S., Japan and the rest of the world.

There's a lot of spies, secrets, and twists and turns that keep you thinking that this could happen and who's going to do something about it? Fred/Cy/Lila? Or will the planet be run by POOP? Although the book is fiction, it deals with an ongoing nuclear threat to us all and has a point!

Overall, I give Project Yellow Sky: A Korean Conspiracy 2 thumbs up and recommend it as a good read for all!!

Although the book is a purely fictional account of events leading to the involvement of a small group of engineers in a North Korean plot to steal nuclear secrets the U.S. and Japan, it is based on historical and contemporary facts regarding the current perilous situation in the Far East.

It was written primarily as an entertaining spy thriller with common, ordinary engineers as the main characters. However, it also presents a possible scenario of covert operations that seek to upset the world order by means of nuclear blackmail.

It will be especially interesting to San Francisco bay area residents as well as anyone interested in design and development of nuclear weapons and fuel cycle and weapons-grade plutonium and uranium processing facilities.

This is a delightful and funny book, which brought me back to the years when my sons still living at home. This is every Mothers book. If it didn't happen in your home, you know a family that it did happen to. I can hear one of my boys voices in every story. This book reminds me of my cherished copy of the Art Linkletter's book, "Kids Say the Darndest Things". "Fun in the Family Tree" will rest next to it!!!! (after sharing it with friends and family, of course!) Not only is the content beautifully written, the illustrations delighted me. kudos to both writer and illustrator!!!!!

What a fun book is Quotable Kids: Fun In the Family Tree! And, it's more than that. If you suffer from "senior memory", it will be refreshed by these moments in time. As a mother of four and grandmother of eight, I have forgotten many of the funny things I experienced with my children; and those my friends and family members experienced. This has brought to mind some of the great ones. What a great reading experience for mothers of any age!

Cudos to the author and illustrator for putting it together so well! Easy and fun reading is such a luxury these days. I savored every moment. Art Linkletter couldn't have done it better, and he was great.

Review Date: 2004-01-25
My comments on this pocket guide are the same as those on the other two created by Rath & Strong, except that this pocket guide is probably the one to purchase in bulk quantity so that copies can be distrbuted among everyone directly involved with process improvement initiatives. Thus far, a substantial majority of Six Six programs either failed or fell far short of expectations. Why? Lots of reasons but one of the major ones is dysfunctional teamwork. Hence the special importance of this pocket guide.

Although Rath and Strong do indeed provide a wealth of information about Six Sigma, their "pocket guide" can be of substantial value to all organizations (regardless of size or nature) which need to simplify, thereby improve the process by which they produce whatever they offer for sale. Products, of course, but also professional services (e.g. legal, accounting, management consulting), memberships (e.g. healthcare providers as well as trade and professional associations such as chambers of commerce), and charitable support (e.g. non profit, tax exempt 501 (c) 3 organizations such as college and universities). Chapter One introduces the book's core concept, DMAIC, an acronym for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. A chapter is then devoted to each of the five separate but related process components. Rath and Strong explain how this process will guide and inform efforts to increase the ROI of resources to achieve whatever the desired objectives may be. One of this guide's greatest benefits is its ease of use: It can easily be carried within an attaché case, coat pocket, or purse, always available for direct and immediate access whenever needed. Now more than ever before, decision-makers are under great pressure to produce more and better results in less time, and with fewer resources. Hence the importance of improving first pass yield and cycle time, for example. Hence the importance, also, of enabling everyone within a given organization to understand how and why her or his efforts can -- and should -- contribute to the organization's operational excellence. For most executives, Rath and Strong offer a concise, easy-to-access, and well-written source of guidance to effectively defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling various stages of production of ideas as well as products and services.

This is the ultimate account of a corporate whistleblower whose life was torn to shreds as a consequence. Not only did the European Commission successfully prosecute HLR as a result of Adams' information, but they stood by as both his and his family's lives were systematically destroyed. I read this book seven years ago and I still grit my teeth at any thought of Roche, the EC, and especially those god awful Swiss.

You MUST read this book. The more people who know the story, the better. Pharmaceutical cartels aren't as sexy as Big Tobacco, but Stanley Adams' ordeal blows even the dramatised Hollywood account of Big Tobacco's "Insider" completely out of the water.

A most distrurbing tale of what happened to an executive of a Swiss pharmaceutical company after he had left the organisation.

Doing what he felt was right for the good of consumers and the EC, he passed cartel and shady dealing information to the European Parliament.

His subsequent arrest, the 'suicide' of his wife, and his ensuing struggle for freedom will bring a genuine tear to the eye of even the hardest reader.

I have tried to contact Stanley Adams and John Prescott (who assisted him in his plight) but to no avail.

All in all a gripping read - at times you will not beleive it is NON-fiction.

A book that must not be missed.

I read the book more than three years ago. Even though I have forgotten most of the details of Mr Adams's story, I am deeply impressed by this man's courage and ability of not showing even the slightest sign of grudge agaisnt those who have played him out. This shows that he is a very forgiving and loving guy. I admire him for the way in which he reacted to the whole incident. It's a very touching story, undeniably. May he live in peace and happiness forever.

Ultimate shell reference!

Review Date: 2004-07-13
Whether for a valuable collection at home, or a sight while swimming or scuba diving, this will prove very reliable in the field. A MUCH more advanced field guide than the Golden First Guides, this lists over 600 shells in all and will quickly identify any strange seashell you happen to find beachcombing. This guide contains: Augor shells, chitons, whelks, limpets, and many other valuable collectibles. Each shell species entry has a description added to the side, explaining: abundance, range, and habitat. After the first Golden Guide to Seashells intrigues you, try your luck out with this field reference.
There are several editions made of this guide, from cheap paperback to hardcore turtleback. The paperback and hardback are the best to buy, as they are both great deals and cost less than the turtleback, which is also durable. Any edition will serve you very well in shell collection ID or snorkeling discoveries.

This is the book that got me started.

Yes it's way out of date. Yes the super rare shells listed in the book are often no longer even mildly rare. Yes it is drawings only. Sigh. But this is the book that got me and all too many others hooked into this area. 30 years later I still love the hobby. Give it to a child and watch him/her grow.

If you like to collect seashells, then this handy key to the typical shells found on a beach may be of interest. It comes in a handy soft cover and is pocket sized, so it will easily fit in one's bathing suit's waist. It is slender, although several of the easy to find shells are listed, photos are reasonable and of good quality. It is similar to other such books, although not quite a book and not quite a pamphlet. It's in a league of its own!

I teach first graders, and they absolutely love the "Ready, Freddy!" series of books. This particular book is about our hero, Freddy, getting to take home the class hamster, Harold, for the weekend. While Freddy's mother is not thrilled about the idea of any animal in her house, she finally relents and lets Freddy bring home the hamster. In true Freddy form, craziness ensues as soon as he gets Harold into the house.
I strongly recommend the "Ready, Freddy!" series of books for students. While the words may be a little difficult for some first graders to read on their own, using this book to read to/with your child or class is a fun and engaging use of time.

My first grader loves the Ready, Freddy series. We have all the books, and enjoy reading them together. The main character is a first grade boy who loves sharks. Freddy is a good kid, with a realistic relationship with his big sister, and simple (though important) problems. I read one chapter a night, and now that he's improving in reading, my son is starting to read some on his own! Also, each of the illustrations has the word "fin" hidden in it. It's fun to look for it.

While we like Junie B., she can get into a bit of trouble and uses some language that we don't. Ready, Freddy is a better fit for us.

This "how to" book is a must for parents and teachers. The book uses examples of actual kindergarten children in a testament to developing skills in leanguage arts and creativity, while promoting family values and a love of learning.

Very rarely does a book deliver on its promises. To have a book deliver while presenting a new, fresh idea about instruction is truly a gift that teachers and instructors in every field should take advantage of. Katherine Dowling's book manages to offer much more then standard fare: "Side By Side" shows exactly how much parents and children can truly benefit from each other in the writing process. The ideas presented here are meant to help both parent and child reach their full potential as writers, thinkers, and comunicators. I can't imagine how this book and the ideas presented in it would not benefit anyone open to experiencing the joys of writing with their child.

As a parent I plan on doing this project with my own children and as a former teacher I plan on giving a copy to the teachers that my children have. I loved this book for several reasons.
One, it is very easy to follow and the author does not leave out any detail in how the project works. I feel very comfortable preparing to do this with my children. As I read it I would think of a question only to have it answered on the following page. This happened several times. I was so inspired reading it, I finished it in one day! Secondly, it is wonderful to have a positive, learning approach to a child/parent activity. Not only are the children learning but so are the parents. The parent has the same assignment as the child. They work together - side by side. Not to mention you have a book at completion to keep the rest of your life. Thirdly, it makes an attempt to instill a life long learning attitude for both parent and child. As parents we are never to old to write and learn about ourselves. For our children to see us having fun writing and to spend the time together will hopefully encourage them as young people to write, write, write. I can not say enough about this book. It has made me miss the classroom and the love of seeing a child develop and grow. I am so pleased that this book was written for teachers, but also for parents. I do not have a classroom of students. I plan on doing it with just one child!Happy reading and writing.

Fredric Stern has written a gripping story of intrigue and suspense.

In the late 1950s, the CIA developed sophisticated new drugs to help brainwash foreign enemies, but the program proved too risky and ultimately too dangerous, so orders were given to shut it down.

Unknown to that or subsequent administrations, a group of zealots within the program kept it secretly alive.

Now, 35 years later, they use 90s technology to refine their drugs to understand and control the brain's thought processes.

Readers will find this medical thriller hard to put down.
