This is an insightful and unique view of a ranching community in Nevada. Howard Wright Marshall has crafted a scholarly look at the vernacular architecture created by early settlers, which included Italian stonemasons. This is a well-illustrated and indexed book that belongs on the bookshelf of anyone interested in vernacular architecture and the history of the western United States.

Remarkable book for those who wish to know as much as possible about the old New Spain missions that were built in the 17th and 18th century throughout Mexican and US Sonora, Arizona, California etc. The book presents an accurate picture of the geography and history of the places included. The book is also precious for those who like to explore places and or research the work of missionaries such as Eusebio Kino. Roca has evidently travelled and experienced the places he describes; he went where not many went after the missions where either left or used less. The delivery of the used book by the book dealer was prompt and reliable. Thanks.

"People of the Desert and Sea-Ethnobotany of the Seri Indians" provides the most knowledgeable and complete resource available about the little-known Seri Indians of Sonora, Mexico, the last free nomadic mariners, hunters & gatherers of North America. This book shines as the definitive study of Seri culture. There are brilliant sections and chapters about Seri language, prehistory, history through the 20th century, the Seri calendar & Seri classification of the biological world, water & food quest, the supernatural, medicinal uses of plants & animals, shelter & fuel, boats & equipment, dress & ornament, recreation, music & oral tradition, basketry & ironwood carving, and finally, species accounts of plants in Seri culture. The readable and easy flowing text is sumptuously illustrated with B&W photographs and drawings. The primary author of this incredible book is Mary Beck "Becky" Moser, who has lived with and known the Seri Indians for almost 50 years. Linguist Moser, her deceased husband Edward & daughter Cathy are the only outsiders who have become fluent in the Seri language. Becky's esteem and friendship among the Seris has gained her unprecedented access to first hand accounts about Seri life and Seri tradition. Becky Moser's years of dedicated work and collaboration with botanist Richard Felger makes "People of the Desert and Sea" an invaluable resource and guide to anthropologists and biologists researching life in the Sonoran Desert.

A critical reading of Shakespeare's "Sonnets"

Written by English and Comparative Literature teacher Robert L. Montgomery, The Perfect Ceremony of Love's Rite: Shakespeare's Sonnets and A Lover's Complaint is a critical reading of Shakespeare's "Sonnets" and its companion volume, "A Lover's Complaint", while scrutinizing their connections to the Petrarchan conventions as well as to the work of contemporary Elizabethan poets such as Sidney, Spenser, and Daniel. Of particular interest to the discussion are the ways by which poetry evokes admiration, passion, guilt, obsessive longing, and preoccupation with time and the decay of youth and beauty. An index rounds out this scholarly and thoughtful close reading of classic poetry.

This book is an excellent guide of the largest employers in the Phoenix Metropolitan area and other parts of the state. It is also a good reference guide to see what type of industries are in the valley of the sun and where they are located. The book contains sections on job hunting and helpful hints. I would highly recommend it.

This book was helpful in preparing me for my trip to Arizona. The pictures within it cannot be fully appreciated without a full view of the state yourself. Spend some time with the book before your trip. The book gives you a perspective of almost all areas of this diverse state; from Tucson to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. The only problem I had was a poorly made binding to the book. If you get it make sure you take care of it. Overall very good.

I have read this book time and time again, it still teaches a lot. It is an amazing look back in time as to when Pimas' were Pimas'. Being Pima myself, A Pima Remembers is my number one book. George Webb had great dedication and meaning, reading the book tells you where it came from.

I bought this hoping for some brief mentions of my great-great-grandparents' generation, the Bristows, who lived in the Verde Valley, and there are actually several personal stories written down from different relatives -- some of which help clarify the family tree! If your ancestors lived in the Verde Valley in the late 1800's, this is a great resource. It's filled with personal stories from those who lived there, and has many old photos.

Makes me look forward to taking a tour with ICR someday. I've known a couple who visited Mt. St. Helens with them and they really enjoyed it.
