Colonel Henry Gariepy writes another great book with the telling of the life story of Commissioner Israel L. Gaither of The Salvation Army. The message of the man is compelling and defining of this global movement of God. I commend it to a wide variety of interested persons both in The Salvation Army and out. You will learn of the commitment of a holy man to a holy God in an international context and in a personal way.

This is a must read if you want to know what God will do with a life dedicated to Him.

This map was very useful for my husband and I on our self-drive vacation in Israel. Because tourism to Israel is down, this was the only English road map of Israel we could find anywhere in the States before leaving. It is quite detailed with almost all roads marked; we found our way to everywhere we wanted to go, and I recommend it other tourists who plan self-drive vacations in Israel.

Every once in a while, a book comes along that surprises me with its excellence, and this is one of those books. An ancient Mesopotamian story is that of the sage Adapa, who with a curse broke the wing of the South Wind, and missed an opportunity at eternal life offered to him by the great god Anu. This book is an in-depth look at the story, what we know of it, and what its significance is.

The first chapter looks at the five surviving fragments of the tale; with a copy in the original language, the text translated into English, and then a list of line-by-line comments. The second chapter looks at the dating of the myth, while the third chapter looks at the myth as poetry. The final, and to my mind best, chapter looks at the myth itself and its meaning.

Overall, I found this to be a great resource. Though it was written for a scholarly audience, the book is still eminently readable, and quite fascinating, even to the general reader. So, if you are at all interested in Mesopotamian myths in general, and about the Adapa myth in particular, then you will find this to be a great book. I know I did! I highly recommend this book.

This volume was an entry in the ' Encylopedia Judaica' It is a scholarly study of Anti- Semitism and is factually accurate, and reliable.

This a good and accurate history of the development of modern Israel, but it needs to be updated. It tells the story of Israel's struggle for security and peace in the face of the hostility of its Arab neighbors. And it records the triumph of the establishment of the State, and the building of it through its first decades.

This entry in the 'Encyclopedia Judaica ' is informative, accurate and inspiring. It tells the story of Jerusalem through its various periods of development, chronicles the many struggles for predominance in it, reports on its central place in the spiritual life of mankind.

Most people are not aware of the rich diversity of Israel's religious communities. This small work is a good guide, but like all the works of this series was published in 1974, and therefore needs updating. Since the writing of this volume there has been a very large influx of Jews from the Soviet Union. There has also been an increased number of non- Jews from the Soviet Union. Nonetheless this book provides a basic and accurate guide to the religious communities of Israel as of 1974.

As a teacher who will be teaching about Israel to 4th-6th graders, I found this book to be a wonderful introduction to entice my students about Israel. It is written in concise, simple language making it easy to understand and the photos are breathtaking.
