About the Book :
It vividly describes the archaeological relics and historical monuments of China in the provinces of Shanxi, Henan and Gansu, besides Beijing and its surroundings. One gets a glimpse of the great Buddhist rock-cut caves of northern and central China through excellent photo-illustrations. Besides, an analytical correlative study of the Buddhist contacts between southeast India, China and Sri Lanka is attempted, bringing to light the potential overseas `Perfume Route`, which supplemented the older and well-known overland `Silk Road`.

About the Book :
The present work is based on the first-hand study of the Buddhist remains, mostly lying unnoticed, at various places and in museums and private collections. It has taken years of study and fieldwork to dig up the literary and archaeological data to prepare this monograph which brings to light many stupas, pillars, sculptures, terracottas and other antiquities from the region of Haryana showing clearly that Buddhism continued to live here even after it was wiped off from the mainland. Buddhism is one of the well-known religions of the world and is being practiced by people from India to Japan and in South Asia. Like any other cultured people, the Buddhists also feel concerned about their heritage and are eager to know more and more about it.
Haryana occupies an intermediary position between Gandhara and Mathura, two very important centers of Buddhist art. There is growing evidence to indicate that the Mathura and Gandhara Schools did not live in isolation and had mutual influences. Punjab and Haryana being intermediary between the two must have played as their meeting ground. And hence the importance of the relics discovered from this area.
It is for the first time that all relevant literary and archaeological evidence regarding Buddhism in this region, known partially and piecemeal earlier, has been presented in book form. It is the result of sustained efforts and interest in the subject and includes some unpublished and little known remains. It is hoped that the monograph will help in understanding the story of the development and decline of Buddhism and Buddhist art in northern India and would evoke further research and discussion.

The book unfolds with each story , the theme being the same...all attachment and ego will always ultimately cause pain. The book highlights that there is no short cut to peace , that no religion can hasten your reaching enlightenment.........and at each stage one HAS to work through continuously with equanimity. Great book......no big elements ,just facts bringing out the true Buddhist school of thought.

About the Book :
The Bundela Rebellion was a feudal revolt against the British rule in Saugor and Nebudda territories. The British annexation of the region in 1818, after dislodging the Marathas, had undermined the power and influence of the local chiefs. Was the rising of 1842 a prelude to that of 1857, which assumed such a widespread and popular character ? The probable causes of the revolt, progress of the insurrectionary movement, its suppression, effects, etc. has been dealt with in the present work. The conclusions of the author, drawn from an overall study of the episode, reveal the true nature and significance of the rebellion.

For anyone who is interested in a little known theater of WWII. This is a well written and fact filled read. Primarily the story of Gen. Joe (Vinager Joe) Stilwell. In an arena of larger than life names,Merrill, Wingate, Mao, and Chian Kai-shek, Gen.Stilwell`s story pull all the elements together in an way that, a telling from other angles might not. As my first book on this subject, I feel Mr Webster gave me my money`s worth in a book that was hard to put down.

Some people refer to this as the "c" bible
This book is not cluttered with C++ forcing you to figure out what part is "c".
You may think that this book is not for beginners. However it is actually more of a combination of dictionary and ["The Elements of Style" ISBN: 020530902X] for the "c" language
This does of course include ANSI c, which is transportable to all platforms. It also states that," Since the ANSI c library is in many cases modeled on Unix facilities, this could may help your understanding of the library as well."
This book should be used as a prerequisite to c communications books.

The original and foremost Ayurvedic text.

If you are studying Ayurveda either officially or on your own, then almost everything you read in modern paperbacks about the subject has been culled form the Charaka Samita. This edition, in four volumes, gives the Sanskrit text along with a fairly good English translation. Printed and bound in India it is well produced while not being up to western standards, but in many ways that only adds to the mystery and excitement of holding a 3000 year old text in your hands. And the principles of health that worked then still work today...this is not the science of speculation, but revealed truth. Many modern works will give you this information, but having the original to consult is something special.
