A very conveniently sized book that can be easily put into your pocket and places two of our country's most important documents within easy reach. I teach ESOL and I buy multiple copies so I can make sure that all my students can have a copy as they will hopefully begin studying for their US citizenship. Not only are the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in this book but also little known facts of our founding fathers, notes on famous Supreme Court decisions, Articles of Confederation, etc.

You can't really write a review about the Constitution! But I can tell you that this little book is not too difficult on the eyes, easy to use and simple for carrying to class. It doesn't weigh much in a pocket or a backpack, and this is the version I've used throughout my grad-school days. And after several years of thumbing through it, the book still hasn't fallen apart!

A great reference...

An easy read for quickly boning up on your U.S. constitution and a great reference document for future use. I'd recommend having it in your collection of books.

This is a great little book, but the binding doesn't hold up well.

This is a great book. It covers the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the US Constitution as well as an abundance of interesting facts about the Framers of the Constitution.

The book is compact and students can easily carry it with them everywhere they go. This book is also very affordable.

There is a problem with this book's binding though. The book tends to come apart. The book's good for students, but since the Constitution is so important, I would give students a hardback when they graduate which they can have in their personal library for the rest of their lives.

Secrets of technology exposed

Paul Hill has all the necessary credentials to write a book like this. Despite the fact that his employer, NASA, kept his interest in UFOs unofficial, he has come to interesting and well supported conclusions. The objects are real. Official disinterest in studying them and the associated ridicule are also real. He had seen UFOs himself and accepted the evidence at face value. He also makes mention of his work for a company called A.V. Roe in Canada and there is a photo of test pilots for a project he claims went nowhere. See Flying Saucer Aircraft by Rose for the connection. That project did, in fact, go somewhere.

The idea that such advanced aircraft are beyond the capability of manufacture on Earth may not be true. Also, reported abductions by 'aliens' may be part of a larger cover up as well. Perhaps this is why 20 years have elapsed since the time of writing and publication. Only recently, via an article in Popular Mechanics, have people learned about America's Nuclear Flying Saucer (actually, semi-circular). The atomic aircraft was also a program that had, reportedly, gone nowhere.

And Mr. Hill tells us that we are looking at the speed of light in regard to space travel all wrong. I recommend this book highly as a cogent and worthwhile addition to the library for those looking for good answers to this subject.

I didn't really buy this book with any expectations. and I'm not really a UFO buff but I do have an open mind about such things. When I received this book, I read it cover to cover and didn't take my hands off of it. This book, hands down, has the best explanation of the mathematics behind Relitivity, using the Lorentz Transformation, of any book I have read. After reading this book and absorbing the math, the reader will understand that interstallar travel is easily possible from the travelers reference time frame. I rate this book 5 stars and might buy another one because the one I have is starting to wear out.

A very good exposition for all the scientifically minded sympathetic skeptics (like me). I've enjoyed every part of this very entertaining book. However I would like to mention just a couple of points, for the sake of completeness. Mr. Hill's concept of 'effective' speed is an interesting one and quite valid for CONSTANT SHIP VELOCITY. However across pages 387-388 he makes the erroneous statement that "...all physical laws properly formulated hold good in ALL REFERENCE FRAMES." in paraphrasing Einstein. This should of course read "...ALL INERTIAL FRAMES." An accelerating space ship does NOT constitute an inertial frame of reference, hence the condition that the speed of light remain invariant in all inertial frames, does not generally hold. In fact in a non-inertial frame the value of the speed of light is C`a = C*(1+(a*cos r)/(2C*C)), where C is the usual value of the speed of light in an inertial frame and C`a is the speed of light determined in an accelerating frame. If you substitute C`a for C in Equation A5-12a you get the correct expression. This only affects the accelerated portions of the spaceship's trip. I've checked the effective speed during the constant velocity coasting and it seems to be a valid proposal.

Book like this one are a blessing, you can not miss it if you are getting serious in Ufology, only w/ all the technical juice in force field and suchs is enough to say than UFO technology is not a fantasy or scien-fiction theme as Big Brother want you to believe,(please read UFO and no ETs) is very real and a very well guarded secret, and "THEY" (the identity of this close circle of persons within the establisment is matter for a very good Tom Clancy's book), are so scare by the fact of his public disclosure, is in the word of GOD the true will prevail, sooner or later, I found "Revelations.." of Jacques Vallee a very nice complement for this book, mostly in the sensitive issue of media disinformation and distortion of this phenomena.

My wife and I love to go on factory tours and visit company museums when we travel. It's corny, I know, but fun. This book gives wonderful examples of some of the best tours and museums around. Whenever we're going on a road trip, we always consult Watch It Made in the U.S.A.: A Visitor's Guide to the Best Factory Tours and Company Museums (Watch It Made in the USA) to help us decide where we might like to go. I would very much recommend it for families with young kids who might enjoy such tours, and probably retirees who have the time and interest for them, as well.

Review Date: 2008-02-25
This is my first review in Amazon.

I am always curious about how things are made,
and after watching many episodes of "How do they do it",
and "How it's made" on discovery Channel.
I started to look for extra resources for a better understanding on these "behind the scenes" mysteries.
Then, I found this book.
And this book is a real treasure!
The book is well organized,
It provides many detail information about the factory tours,
and the brief background of the companies.

Thanks to this book,
now I have some itineraries in mind.
I plan to visit KitchenAid's factory in the near future for my mom.
(My family is in Taiwan)
She is a big fan of KitchenAid mixer. ha.
I will also visit Airstream company as well,
Owning a travel trailer is my dream, and I want to know how it is made,
And I will be more determined to realize this dream!
Maybe one day I will write a similar book "Watch it made in Taiwan" in a mobile trailer office. Who knows?!

I'm planning to take my two teenagers cross country this summer and this is a GREAT book for finding interesting places to show them. It has excellent maps, clear directions, and well-written descriptions of what you will (and won't) see so I can figure out what sites will best entertain the different family members. I only wish we had time to see more of the places they describe. It even tells you what other nearby attractions there are. Kudos to the authors!

This must be one of the best calendars I have ever owned!!! The dog pictures are either adorable or really funny! All pages come with a title and some small caption about the dogs in the picture. I am VERY happy with this item. I have had MANY calendars in my life (including other page a day ones) and I have to say this one is my favorite. Every morning when I wake up I see my page for that day and my whole day goes well. Never could be happier! Other people in my family including my parents started looking at/reading my calendar every day. This page a day calendar is perfect for all ages...toddlers to grandparents!

Review Date: 2007-02-25
Around the Horn was excellent. I especially like the trade logic in finding set ups off the daily charts to find day trades for the next day. It makes sense. In essence, the author teaches readers how to find buying or selling pressure from the prior day's session when the stock is otherwise pulling back or doing something else that indicates it's ready to resume its trend and then put on a day trade to profit from the follow-through the next few days. Different from most trading books out there because everything is practical and easy to implement and profit from immediately.

The book is full of robust patterns. Each is geared toward a certain market condition and each works well when applied as per the chapters in the book. Highly recommended.

To further incorporate the author's baseball jargon, Around the Horn is lean and mean, yet jammed with vital stats. Nearly every paragraph gives you a tangible idea that's easily understandable as well as theoretically palatable. There's no razzle-dazzle or wasted passages. It's the kind of book a systems' fanatic like me can't resist, and I look forward to converting Dr. Manz' setups into mechanical strategies.

Review Date: 2006-12-09
I have been watching and using the setups in this book for about four months now and can say that when they present themselves in the "real world," they provide solid trading ideas. Dr. Manz posts a free list of the potential trades and how they relate to the patterns in the book on his traderinsight service, and that serves to clarify the ideas in the book and to point out which setups are working at a particular time and why. The author has answered my email quetions and provided links to free information that clarified any questions I have had. A great book, full of solid ideas and an author who is willing to support his work by interacting with his readers. Highly recommended.

Stock Trading at Its Best
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2007-02-11
Dr. Manz has put together a conservative trading methodology for those who are disciplined to follow it consistently every trading day. The book lays out step by step each of the patterns off the price bars on the charts. The methodology is based on the most basic market principles: Price and Time. A group of Price Bars not only represent the price action of the security, but also the psyche of the trader crowd at a particular time. An astute and experienced trader such as Dr. Manz recognizes these patterns that setup low risk, high probability trades for the next morning. Risk is managed by selection of near-by natural price action support and resistance. As one reads on and studies the charts and trading guidelines, one notices the absence of typical computer generated indicators.

The methodologies are fully revealed and explained with no secret "trading tool" withheld. The TraderInsight web site publishes every day a "Stocks to Watch" list and a very thorough review of the preceding day's performance. This review covers the potential entry and exit points, as every trader's real time execution would be different. For further learning, one can visit the trading chat room and observe how various traders successfully execute these setups.

Does it really work?
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2006-11-08
The setups look nice and simple to apply when you read the book, but it does not give the same results when it was used in the real world of trading. It did not hold water when it was back tested. It is lacking lots of stuff to be useable or profitable. The book is big in size and empty of good reliable trading ideas. I personally recommend Dr.Elder or Tony Oz or Ed Ponsi Trading books and methods, for whoever wants good ideas for trading which will give good results in the markets; These authors offer way better alternatives to this elementary book of trading (that has few selected poor trading examples every one in more than one big page.)
Who needs this big size empty papers? Even this inflated appearance of the book does not off set the lack of substance. I am not convinced with the five star reviews because they do not specifically say why they like the book even if it does not give a single strategy that can give good results with mechanical or discretionary trading. Stay away from this book, or at least open your eyes wide when you review it, before you decide to buy it or not. Good luck any way.

We give this book to surgeons in our area to distribute to women diagnosed with breast cancer. Before purchasing it, we had a group of 4 breast cancer survivors review and rate 3 separate books on breast cancer. This book "won" hands down, based on numerous criteria -- everything from its explanation of breast cancer treatments, to its index and glossary, to its discussion of life after cancer. It is clear and easy to read, provides comprehensive information on types of breast cancer and corresponding treatment alternatives, has wonderful graphics and photos, and provides interesting anecdotal stories of actual patients in its sidebar. It is a great source of information, covering all the topics from diagnosis to living life 'after cancer'. I only wish I would have had this book when I was on my personal breast cancer journey! I highly recommend this book for someone newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Many experts believe that Herceptin represents the future direction of breast cancer drugs, because it targets a particular protein on the cancer cell, rather than attacking all cells at random. As research progresses, scientist hope to make all anti-cancer drugs as specific as possible." ~ pg. 97

Designed to compliment the book, the DVD provides an environment of understanding with explanations for all the procedures and various situations that will occur after a diagnosis. New treatments like Immunotherapy are discussed and there is an extensive resource section with additional CD options, including a CD-ROM program that is an interactive guide to treatment.

Helpful up-to-date information about why you may not need a mastectomy and only a lumpectomy is encouraging and gives hope. Radiation and Chemo is also discussed in detail. Throughout both the DVD and book, women tell their stories and that gives a sense of the range of experience. There are over 150 color photographs and graphics to illustrate important points.

A variety of questions are given in each section so you know what to ask your doctor. The stages of breast cancer are given so you know exactly what your doctor is talking about. The main sections include:

Facing Breast Cancer - Your feelings, support groups, healthcare teams and overview of treatment options.

Breast Cancer Basics - Types of Breast Cancer

Diagnosis and Staging - Tumor Testing, the Pathology Report, Additional Tests, How Stage is Determined

Surgery - Reconstruction, Lumpectomy and Mastectomy options, Lymph Nodes

Reconstruction - Choosing a Plastic Surgeon, External and Internal Options

Radiation Therapy - How treatment is given, Brachytherapy

Chemotherapy - Side Effects, Common Chemotherapy Drugs

Hormone Therapy - How Treatment is Given, Who should be Treated, Side Effects

Immunotherapy - Future Therapies and Herceptin

Clinical Trials - Participation Ideas and getting the newest treatments...

Life after Cancer - Emotional Recovery, Physical Recovery

The Guide for Your Partner is a special section your partner can read. If possible, watching the DVD together would be ideal because it explains all the basics in the book.

Be a Survivor is an excellent resource because it gives you all the questions you need to ask and answers a number of pertinent questions any woman will be asking the moment she is diagnosed.

Vladimir Lange, MD is one of the most respected doctors in this field of study and this book came into being after his own wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Mr. Early has done it again. Simply wonderful. If it has been a long time since your read "Jim the Boy", go back and read it first so you don't have to work to remember some of the interpersonal connections between characters.
Not many can catch the awkward time of the late teen years, as well as connect with the adults in the same book. Mr. Early has done it in a very short novel that should be cherished.
Even better the second time through.

So many times, the second book of a series proves to be a distinct let-down from the first. Maybe it is the reader's anticipation that precipitates this, but such was not the case with Mr. Earley's second book: "The Blue Star". It was every bit a poignant, warming and a good read as his first book: "Jim the Boy" . Maybe it was the eight years between the two novels - literally and fictionally. I am hoping that the third book of this tale will be as good, but I think it will.

This is an excellent sequel to Jim the Boy. What a great character Jim is, although he sometimes says things the wrong things to the wrong people. In other words, he bluts out his feelings. All in all, he and his Uncle Zeno and the rest of his family are upstanding citizens always willing to help. To top off a very good book, the ending is most satisfying.

I would like to echo the opinions of all those who have voiced their praises of this deceptively simple book. It really is beautifully written. Like some other reviewers, I too had not read Jim the Boy, but it really didn't matter. My only slight disappointment with the book was the ending. I wouldn't call it abrupt exactly but it definitely had an incomplete feel, likely because the author was setting the stage for part 3 of the series (which I imagine will be called "Jim the Man"). I would imagine that, if the author had no intention of writing another novel about Jim Glass, the ending would have been fuller and a little more satisfying. Still, I give it 5 stars. It really did evoke the 1941-1942 era in a wonderful way.

"You have to choose to be a good man," Uncle Zeno said. "You have to choose every minute of every day. As soon as you don't, you're lost..."

That's what this book, followup to "Jim the Boy," is about, Jim's decisions about what kind of man he will be and the difficulty in making those decisions amid the rush of hormones, poverty, Depression, coming war, life and death, and socio-economic differences, the further opening of a cocoon in the boy Jim's route to the "real world."

It is a book about what matters, who matters, why they matter and how we show that matter, how we show our love and care. It is a book about old unfufilled love and new hopeful love, love in the autumn of life, love in the springtime of life.

The story is set in rural North Carolina, the fall of 1941 through the spring of 1942. A moving, gripping, coming-of-age story, a worthy sequal to "Jim the Boy."

A line on page 256 may sum up the book as nothing else could or should: "The attendant beauty and saddness of the world suddenly seemed to him available for pondering in a way they never had before..."

So it was for Jim. So it has been, or will be, for all of us.

Will Jim make it home from the war? Will Chrissie be waiting for him on his return? And what about Uncle Zeno and Mrs. Steppe? Do they, will they have a future?

We've already waited eight years for this book, Mr. Earley. Don't let it be eight years for the next one. Please.

This book is a wake up call to the Creative! It completely opened my eyes to the many things to think about and plan for when leaving your secure job, and going out on your own. Extremely well written, with a plethora of knowledge on the subject. A complete eye opener. A MUST HAVE for the Creative who is planning on going freelance, or starting their own business. Very informative and necessary to read in order to succeed on your own. Very exciting, I could barely put it down!

I started out excited about this book, then quickly realized much of what the author had to say was outdated at best, not the best advice on numerous occasions, but yet the book contained some valuable information. A bit stoneage as far as business marketing practices. One hundred pages on setting up your own studio/small business with personnel (No, thank you). If working as a freelancer in the graphics or copy arenas is your thing, its worth paying $20.00 to get something out of it.

This is such a comprehensive book. If you have any question about how to run a business, let alone a creative one, this book is the only one you'll need.

I'm starting a sole-proprietor (one-person) freelance design business and I have found this book to be extremely helpful. It manages to be realistic about what to expect while also providing encouragement that if you prepare well and work smart, you have the opportunity to reach your financial goals. The book has made me consider contracts carefully and has given me valuable suggestions (for example, setting up standards such as "I can't accept jobs for which I can bill less than 8 hours' work"), thinking about what kinds of clients I want to attract in my business, and so on. It has important points to consider if you are locating your business outside a large metropolitan area. I recommend it for anyone who is starting out - or considering starting out - on a solo creative business.

This is the real deal. I first used this book in a class for the USPS when I was around 13 years old (I'm 60+ now). Everything is factual and updated often. If you want the best reference manual on boating get this one.

Don't Leave Home (or the Dock) Without It!

Our most frequently asked question: "What's the one book you'd recommend for a boater?" Our answer every time: "Chapman's."

Whether you're a new boater just getting started or an old salt needing a little refresher, this is your dependable one-volume reference. When we need material for our "Boating/PWC Basics" course, this is where we go.

The book is continuously updated and fresh, with new information on topics like GPS and how to use it and Digital Selective Calling (DSC) for your marine radio. It continues to present essential and complete information on preparing to get underway, operating and navigating your boat, the practice of good seamanship, docking or mooring your boat, and how to put it away for the winter (which some of us have to do!).

Chapman's has been a fixture in our library (and on our boats) since the 50th edition in 1972. And even though we pay a little more for it now than the $8.95 price in 1972, you'll still find it a great value at Amazon's price shown above.

Our advice: Don't leave home (or the dock) without it.

Chapmans is the must-have for any boater who wants to do things the right way. I regularly go to this book. Easy to read, organized and practical. A bit big to bring onboard, however.

Experience is the Best Teacher. But Tuition Can Kill You!

I've been a profesional captain for over 30 years, and I still find myself going back to this book for a quick refresher on the Rules of the Road or a check on the working and breaking strengths for various moorings, ropes, chains, etc. If you were allowed only one reference book on boating, this one, in my opinion, would be the best choice. It has a wealth of practical information on virtually every 'basic' subject of importance to the mariner -- novice and professional alike -- and is completely free of controversy and error. With 64 printings under its belt, you can be sure you're getting the facts and figures straight.

There are indeed other very worthy books that cover individual aspects of boating (heavy weather seamanship, advanced navigation, etc.) in a more comprehensive manner, but none of these will offer more factual, accurate, or appropriate information for such a wide range of skill levels. We all know experience is the best teacher. But when the tuition can kill you, it pays to come to school prepared. In this regard, Chapman's has no equal.

Bible of Boating, but maybe you just need a little prayer.

If you could only buy one book on boating, this would be it, but it's overkill for a beginning recreational boater. The newcomer to boating will get lost in all the detail if he tries to use this as a practical manual. With all the books on boating, it might be better to label this as an intermediate-advanced reference book. Sure, it's got everything, but most weekenders don't need to know everything, just the basics.
