Very Valuable-Demonstrates that economists have no idea about what Keynes is presenting

This is an excellent collection of correspondence between Keynes and numerous other economists over topics and ideas that would later turn out to be covered in the General Theory of Employment ,Interest and Money in 1936.Perhaps the most relevant part of the volume is contained on pp.373-375.It involves an exchange between Keynes and Richard Kahn over Keynes's initial breakthrough concerning the existence of multiple equilibria using the boundary and interior of the Production Possibilities Frontier curve model combined with a microeconomic foundation of purely competitive firms operating under constant returns to labor.Kahn demonstrates that he had absolutely no idea or understanding at all about what Keynes was doing.Kahn ,incredibly, confuses constant returns to labor with the case of constant cost.Kahn never recovered from this set back intellectually.

Extremely important-Volume 27 provides just under 200 pages demonstrating Keynes's opposition to deficit finance

Review Date: 2008-06-11
Volume 27 is basically an extension of Keynes's discussions on pp.128-130(especially footnote 1 on p.128)of the GT establishing Keynes's support for a program of long run public investment financed by loan expenditure(based on the accouting concept of a capital account) and his opposition to deficit finance(based on the manipulation of the current account) based on short run attempts to cut tax rates in order to finance increased consumption spending .The reader should cover pp.225-410 of this volume in order to grasp that there is simply no support for the various spurious claims about Keynes being a supporter of deficit finance or a supporter of expansionary and contractionary monetary and fiscal policy or of demand management.Everything written about Keynes and deficit finance(budget deficits) by numerous libertarians and Austrian economists(Henry Hazlitt,Ludwig von Mises,Murray Rothbard, etc.) for over 50 years in the libertarian magazine " The Freeman " is easily dismissed as misinformation or disinformation.

Van Hutchinson's book is one of the funniest how-to guides I've ever read. The cartoons are hilarious. One of them shows a guy telling the doctor, "It hurts when I go like this," as he pulls out his wallet.
Mr. Hutchinson covers a lot of detail but makes it real, because the whole book is based on interviews with dozens of college-age entrepreneurs. It's believable too. They are not all Michael Dells, but range from a perfoming clown to a well-staffed computer upgrade firm, and the various students share their frustrations as well as their successes.
I know from my own experience it is tough to take classes and juggle a real-world business. But it's rewarding, and Hutchinson's book helped me in my small business.
I give it 5 stars and recommend it highly.

This book chronicles the lives of four working-class Jewish immigrant women from their common start as survivors of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire through their careers as labor leaders. These women are absolutely astounding American heroes just waiting to be discovered. In addition to her awe-inspiring subject matter, Orleck also employes a readable and interesting writing style that is true to life and avoids becoming bogged down with useless facts. This book reminded me how much one person really can make a difference simply through conviction and perseverance.

This book is a masterwork of unbiased, apolitical analysis. These two ballers aren't math wonks, nor are they long-winded dinosaurs who talk and write themselves to death while contemplating every nuance of international relations. Rather, they examine real situaitons in the world with foolproof analytic techniques coupled with incisive analysis--a field of IR beginning to be referred to as "formal modeling" or "analytic politics."
If you want to examine the basic assumptions and predicates for much of the writing in IR over the last 25 years, especially (place prefix here)realist thought, then purchase or at the very least read this book. It begins by utilizing an apples v. oranges comparison of [realist/realpolitik thought] v. [analytic/formal modeling thought]. Once the reader realizes just how valid the evidence of the authors is, he becomes very hungry for new information and perspectives on the world of IR to fill the void created by the lack of validity of realism or almost any derivative of it.
The authors then explore just how complicated the world is, considering each rational actor in IR is also constrained by a myriad assortment of domestic concerns. By this time, the reader can become slightly skeptical because the analytic, overly logical environment he inhabits inside the book can be slightly intimidating due to its newness. Then, he turns to the appendices, where every single assertion of the authors is thoroughly buttressed by the rather simple math. If you have a GED, you can understand the vast majority of this math.
It is the reliance on logic and numbers on the part of the authors that validates their ideas. These aren't men with vague, pedantic thoughts that happen to be well-timed who wield their Rolodex to validate their perspective on IR. Rather, they assert their idea while completely reinforcing it with non-Stephen Hawking math. The only way you can disagree with the fundamental core of their argument is to assert that 2+2 does in fact not =4. If you are one of those people who says "Well..what can numbers do in the field of IR. They can't really prove anything, can they?", let Bruce and David show you the way.
At the conclusion of this rather cathartic (especially if the reader has read across the gamut of IR literature) experience, the reader is left with NO CHOICE but to admit that these gentlemen have hit the nail on the head. This school of thought hasn't completely turned IR on its head. Yet. It's not sexy. It's not flashy. (It is math, after all). But the operative words that apply to this text are: factual, proven, and applicable. Joe Nye & Co. are wrong and Bruce BDM is right. But don't believe Bruce. Just do the math.

This is a professional work. Competence-based employment interviewing (CBEI) is briefly but fully defined, summarized, detailed for practical appications. CBEI seemed to be somewhat puzzed and perhaps a kind of management fads before I found this book. Dr Berman proposes significant relationship between employees' competence and their after-hired attitudes and bahaviours, and applicable guidelines and methods of assessing competence in interviewing. I was motivated to sctuitinise practical value of CBEI after reading through this book, and now I am recommending my clients (I'm a part-time consultant) to try CBEI. They usually say, "Wow, CBEI is THAT easy and useful." Thank you very much, Dr Berman.

THE COMPLETE ACADEMIC SEARCH MANUAL is more than its cover reveals. It is a systematic guide for setting up, evaluating, advertising, interviewing, negotiating and hiring professionals both in academia and in the entire nonprofit sector. In fact, all firms and organizations could gain so much from this work.

This book was great. To be honest, I started reading the book and got a little bored with it so I skipped to the back and just used the examples. The examples are GREAT. I was able to find an example that fit me perfectly. I have gotten some great jobs with my resume. If you are like me and would rather skip the reading and go straight to the examples, this is definitely the book for you.
