Little Book, Big HelpReview Date: 2002-06-07
A Word Finder that can make a difference!Review Date: 2001-10-15
As the author points out in the introduction, many employers now use a scanning system to screen resumes. The scanning process involves the selection of certain key words. But which words?
This book can help you include the important words and terms
Part 1 is a word finder. From ability to zealous, you will find key words, their definitions, and a variety of synonyms. Use this part as a thesaurus to add interest to your resume. To make the point that you are enterprising, you can also say you show initiative, are active, aggressive, ambitious, etc., all the way to venturesome.
Part 2 is a career index. I would say it, too, moves from A to Z, but in this case it's accountant to program director, radio. Under each of these key occupations, you will find a list of words to describe skills, responsibilities, and attributes.
There is also an index of positions which relate to these key occupations.
I'm a career counselor who is enthusiastic/excited/exuberant/keen/willing to recommend this book to someone who is feeling stuck about preparing career materials.

Great title and great information,Review Date: 2004-05-03
For most people, this just is not the case. There are a number of reasons of why people do not have great backgrounds. I for one do not believe this is a reflection of potential, creativity, and attitude all of which are far more important than experience. If you need to prep for the interview read this book, if you need to get an interview read, "How to find your dream job and make it a reality: solutions for a meaningful and rewarding career" first. When investing in both of these resources you cannot go wrong.

Make College CountReview Date: 2000-09-29
This is a "must read" for any college studentReview Date: 1999-08-29
Much of the information is what we assume all good parents will share with their children. However, my experience as a college professor and mentor to many students is that this information is not being passed on effectively. Even the best parents could not come up with all of these "pointers". Dr. Scheele shares her experiences with students she has encountered in her position in the career center of a large University.
This bok would make a great gift to the graduating senior or to any young adult looking for some common sense quidance to help launch them into the world of work. It will be on my list of "gifts for the graduate"
