One of the Best!Review Date: 2004-09-08
Excellent Across the Board!!!Review Date: 2003-08-12
This book also teaches you how to use the selling principles in everything else in life from managing employees to bringing up children. I am already beginning to be more pursuasive with my fiance and my boss. I am loving it!!!
Robert Jolles teaches you very SOUND techniques and not hype like Tom Hopkins, Zig Ziglar or Joe Girard. I love the fact that he was a senior sales training consultant at Xerox, which is world-known for its investment in sales research and its training methodologies.
Repeatable and Predicatable....can you really find that?Review Date: 2000-12-23
Takes selling to the next levelReview Date: 2001-08-18
Good Book - but its missing that little "something"Review Date: 2002-07-21
But, for me, the book contradicted its title somewhat. This is particularly evident where Jolles uses the boxing metaphor for selling (he compares selling to you and your client stepping into the ring for a few rounds) and 'bleeding' your client. Now maybe I'm naive, but I think this is what is totally wrong with the sales profession - I don't think you're ever fighting your client, or should be trying to 'bleed' him or her, or make him hurt.
Now perhaps Jolles was simply trying to make the point that the client needs to be fully aware of the implications of his/her problem etc, but it was the way he says it that shows he doesn't have the customers true interests at heart. And to me,its the philosophy of the sales professional combined with sales effectiveness that is critical to building long-term, mutually benefical client relationships.
I would recommend this book to you - it teaches a sound sales process that is repeatable. But for me it missed that extra something.

Finally, an update source of information!Review Date: 2004-12-12
It was recently that I wanted to do some more reading on my disease. I looked through some books and was shocked by what I was reading. As many of you know, the out-of-date books on CF can have some very frightening information, like death and more infections, and etc. It was I discovered this book that I was so much more relaxed about my condition. This book is up-to-date and tells the real facts about this disease. After reading this, my disease doesn't scare me anymore.
If you are a teen, like me, I suggest you read thid.
If you know anybody with CF, you should read this book or have them read this. Don't let them read those early books on CF with the grim facts...have them read this with the true and helpful facts.
very informativeReview Date: 2002-01-29

A Brilliant and Thrilling MysteryReview Date: 2003-12-18
Literary lyricist!Review Date: 2003-12-16
Noah Winter in a protagonist on a grand scale--rich, handsome, intelligent, and charismatic--but he's also an ex-cop who is haunted by dreams of his young son's tragic death. His innate sense of loyalty and honor send him on a quest to rescue an old friend's nephew who has been mysteriously abducted, and he finds himself in the middle of so much intrigue that it takes all his wits and experience to get out. Then, just when he thinks he's succeeded, he must face a foe who calls evil a comrade and embraces death as a lover.
This is a book that will stimulate your mind with its complexities, entertain you with its engaging, three-dimensional characters and their lively dialogue, enrich you with a sampling of the author's vast wit and wisdom, and scare the bejeezus out of you in more ways than one. You may find yourself gripping the book in agitation as you near its brutal climax, but rest assured that Mr. Squires does not disappoint on any level and you'll be glad he took you along on this virtual safari through his imagination.
Midwest Book Review - a winnerReview Date: 2003-11-29
Noah Winters makes a quite appealing main character. Tall, powerful, successful, decent, this ex-cop turned millionaire entrepreneur struggles with a haunted past. When his nephew Robbie disappears, reportedly headed to meet up with Noah's childhood friend Clayton, Noah goes in search of the boy.
From there Noah is drawn into a web of seemingly unrelated events that threaten his professional standing and eventually his life. Native American mysticism plays a part, as Noah tracks the sinister and charismatic Solano. The shocking truth is revealed slowly as Noah works against the clock. Can anyone be trusted? Will those he loves survive? And will his money, decency and strength be enough to circumvent disaster?
The Dead of Winter is not light reading. The prose is intelligent and engrossing, deftly put together. Jay Squires has a winner here.

Great Collection of Experiences from international students in the USReview Date: 2007-06-21
Extra-Ordinary, but shortReview Date: 2006-07-25
Great book, so many experiences, so many advises, specially for student like us who came from other side of the world to study in USA.
I have one complain though, the book should have included more essays from more fulbrighters of other parts of the world.
anyway, it is 5 start book.

5 definitions of America! Awsome readingReview Date: 2006-07-19
I am a trainer in one of Fortune 500 companies on Cross Cultural issues. I have found this book a great source to see our own country (USA) from totally new perspective(s).
One of the Essay "5 Definitions of America!" in this collection of essays can be used as a reference material in IR and Cross-Cultural learning.
Another essay "Get Back to where you now belong" from an Austrain Fulbrighter who lost her passport is great.
Should read if you want to travel to any of the contributors' countries.
Mutually Exclusive Set of Definitions from the Universal Set of USA!Review Date: 2006-07-19
But, that wasn't true, each scholar experienced USA in a unique way, every one has their own set of definitions and likes/dislikes about USA.
USA is the most diverse country (I believe).
I really enjoyed the essay of a scholar from Pakistan.
I highly recommend this book for all who are intersted in Fulbright Program, USA or different cultures.

A Healing Oasis Review Date: 2006-06-01
As the mother of a challenging teenager with a long list of `disorders', I cried while reading GENIUS! George and Joanne Lynn write with a raw honesty that cut straight to my core.
In the Editor's Preface, Joanne writes "Families such as ours live in a crucible, that chemistry lab vessel made of a material, steel or platinum or porcelain, that doesn't burn away in a furnace...George and I live in the furnace of our son's wild neurology, and our job is to contain him so that he can grow, without burning up in his own heat. And we must not burn out in the nurturing of him."
This beautiful book, is written from the intimate perspective of parents who have lived in the furnace with their own son, as well as their perspectives as therapist and poet. George Lynn writes with professional authority about attention differences - in particular AD/HD, Asperger Syndrome, bipolar disorder and Tourette Syndrome. Yet this is not just a book about coping with syndromes and disorders. It is about seeing the brilliance within our child. It is also about how we parents need to focus inward, nurturing our own genius, and giving it expression. Taking care of our own health, mind and spirit strengthens us to meet the challenges of living amidst the daily chaos. This book is like finding an oasis in the lonely desert of cultural misunderstanding and judgement. Thank you George and Joanne for this gift.
blessings of neurological differenceReview Date: 2005-05-14
As a counselor of children and adults, George Lynn says many of his AD/HD adolescent clients "are sports champions or team captains at the high school level. As performers or musicians they tend to be creative and innovative composers, and charismatic on stage." And there are many examples throughout history of prominent achievers who are neurologically different.
A must have for any parent who had a child with a neurological disabilityReview Date: 2006-02-18
Powerfully personalReview Date: 2005-12-11
I was particularly struck by his reminder that every human being needs a "Great Story" with which to frame their talents and strengths, something to serve as a beacon in darker times, a reminder that we each are much more than the sum of our liabilities. Kids with multiple difficulties need such a beacon especially, but while dealing with the stresses of daily living, it is all too easy to forget.
In the process of reminding parents and kids to seek the Great Stories they all have to tell, George Lynn has given the gift of a Great Story for himself.
AMAZING INSIGHT!Review Date: 2005-05-16
