Jason Perry became an adult while with the very popular Christian boy band Plus One (he left the group at the end of 2002). Once you read this book, you will realize that he also grew up spiritually as well.

Think of "You Are Not Your Own: Living Loud For God" as an autobiography of Jason's walk with the Lord. Although it is a very short book (only 127 pages), Jason has bared his soul to us completely. He not only shares the good, but the bad as well. Many people, especially those who grew up in the church, should be able to relate to Jason.

God has worked wonders in Jason's heart, which will become very obvious to you as you read the book. Though written for an audience his age and younger, even those like me who are (much) older will be touched by Jason's openness and honesty.

Thank you, Jason, for listening to the Lord and sharing with us. I have been truly blessed by it.

TOTALLY AWESOME ! A MUST FOR PLUS ONE FANS !

When I first picked up this book I was pretty overwhelmed with all the changes the authors recommend -- some of them are fairly significant alterations to my everyday life. But all in all, I think even starting with just a few of them and working your way up can be a great way to help the Earth, which is something we all want for our kids and grandkids. I'd definitely recommend buying this book.

This is an update to a book issued in 2003. It has 51 chapters, one for each tip, plus summaries at the end of the tips, the science, and the politics.

Each chapter is clearly written, organized with an Overview, What You Should Know, Easy Ways You Can Help, a summary box, and Search for More Info. The summary box tells you clearly what your personal savings are likely to be if you implement these, the annual amount of CO2 that will not be put into the atmosphere, and sometimes the dollar savings over the life of the product.

Each of the bulleted paragraphs in the What You Should Know and the Easy Ways You Can Help lead with a bold-faced short sentence encapsulating the enformation. The rest of the paragraph expands on it.

The whole is presented clearly, enthusiastically but not intimidatingly, and with sound advice that saves you money, and the environment from more harm.

This book provides you, the reader, with the tools to look deeper into each topic, but it doesn't guilt you into it. It tells you exactly how thrifty you are being, and how much difference one person or household can make.

Recommended.

Rather than trying to explain all the science behind global warming or politics behind the Kyoto Protocol, the authors present simple, clear, and easy-to-implement suggestions on how the average consumer can make significant reductions in his impact on the environment. Even for those who think global warming is "junk science," this book provides tips on how to lower gas and electric bills-and how can that be a bad thing?

You can Prevent Global Warming provides 51 tips for lowering carbon emissions and conserving energy. Almost every tip presented is completely free and every tip saves money. Many of the suggestions are not new-putting a milk jug full of water into the toilet tank to reduce the flow of water, lowering the thermostat just a bit-however, the authors also include exactly how much money and energy it saves by doing something simple. They also provide tips for people with varying levels of commitment. Already doing the toilet tank thing? They give you links to reviews of low-flow toilets. Is that still not enough for you? They explain composting toilets!

There were a few features I particularly enjoyed and appreciated with this book. First, I liked the list at the end of the book that placed each suggestion in an easy-to-follow format of which tips to do first and how often. I also really liked the useful links included. Rather than actually getting bogged down in science and mechanics, they provide web links to [...] and other useful sites. A major barrier in me doing some of the suggestions before (like vacuuming heater and fridge coils) is that I had no idea how to do these things and was (frankly) too lazy to look it up. The authors provide a link with pictures on how to do these things. Some of the links also take you to sites on how to contact Congress if an issue is important to you if the way you want to lower man's impact on nature is to become politically involved.

I was walking around my house implementing many of these suggestions as I was reading because of how simple they are. The authors never take a strong-armed tone, never guilt you into trying something they suggest. Every suggestion felt like they were saying "Good for you for doing so much! Want to try more? Keep reading!"

I strongly recommend this book to any home-owner (though it also has awesome suggestions for renters!). I have a number of family members who are always trying to be as green as possible without seriously changing their lifestyles, a few who cringe (or cuss) at the very mention of Al Gore but who are still committed to the Biblical mandate to be stewards of the Earth, and a few who are trying to do more and more-and they are all on the receiving list for this book.

A pretty comprehensive book of tips to help prevent global warming. There are also definitions of terms one hears in the news and in other venues about global warming. Many of the tips were ones I had already heard about or were steps I had already taken so there was not a lot of new information for me. But, it is very nicely organized and easy to read. This is an update from the 2003 version, however, there were a couple of tips that were not updated such as the section on reusing old floppy disks. You most definitely can reuse floppy disks, but I don't know anyone who uses those anymore. Overall, a pretty good read for the person in the beginning stages of fighting global warming.

Excellent "history" book on the rave scene!

Excellent, informative history of the rave scene in England... everything is in here: how influential Ibiza was to the scene, MDMA and its history, smiley faces, baggy pants, all the main players and djs... it brought back a lot of happy memories of my raver days in NYC in the early 90s. A must read for those interested in this scene especially the beginning which shows that it all started in America: Larry Levan and the Paradise Garage, Frankie Knuckles's Warehouse parties, Dr. Shulgin and his MDMA studies... Britian took it to the next level in the 80s beginning with the Summer of Love and raves and was then past back to the US in the early 90s: Frankie Bones and the Storm raves, NASA, and the rest. This book tells you all about it!

This book is truely entertaining, it covers music, culture, politics, drugs, ect... It was hard to put this book down, I was sucked into it and learned a great deal about the scene in Eroupe. I recommend this book to people who are looking for answers to questions they didn't know they were asking...

This book is well written from start to finish and is hard to put down. It provides a real inside viewpoint of not only the music put the politics of ecstasy culture. To those who seek alternatives to corporate-consumer-culture this book is very inspiring. In particular the stories of how groups like Spiral Tribe live(d) their lives.

To me this book really captures a lot of the emotion that those inside the 'rave movement' feel. Even though the book is centered on the London scene it seems to capture the universal essence of the culture. Reading the book felt like reliving the rave experience all over again. It's like a trip taking you from a ravers first mind-opening dose of MDMA to the realizations that come after continued exposure to underground dance culture and politics.

This book also provided a great account of the actions taken by the opponents of youth dance culture; the ignorance of the politicians and police using scare tactics to try and control what they clearly don't understand, the attempts by the alcohol industry to take the culture away from the underground and commodify it into regular bars for their profit, and the problems created in the culture by organized crime.

Altered State also delves into the issues of prohibition and harm reduction. This is another area where the book's message transcends the London setting it describes. These topics will resonate with anyone familiar with the current political climate in the USA. With the 2002 RAVE (Reducing Americans Vulnerability to Ecstasy) club owners can now be held responsible for what their patrons ingest. Meanwhile organizations like DanceSafe.org offer harm reduction strategies to the millions of ecstasy users who defy prohibition.

I couldn't recommend this book more highly.

As someone who "came of age" in the club culture of Austin, Texas in the mid-1980s (Halls, Stephanie's, 606), I have been quite surprised that the Dallas (Starck) and Austin dance subculture has not been fully explored in many books as "ground zero" for the ecstasy-fueled rave movement that developed in Europe during the late-80s and early 90s. Although MDMA had been around for a while, if it wasn't for a chance meeting between a certain Austin DJ and one of Britain's top new wave bands after an Austin concert, England's 1988 "summer of love" might not have happened (or at least it would have been delayed for a few years). That "three days of love" on Lake Travis had a tremendous influence on the social history of youth over the next twenty years! The book mainly focuses on Britain's experience with the rave and dance subculture. However, it is the first few chapters that I find so fascinating . . . the development of MDMA and its infusion into the mainstream population through unassuming college students who had no idea they were guinea pigs for the multitudes to follow. Well worth the read, especially for those of us who experienced the phenomenon first hand.

Garage, House, Acid House, Techno, Balearic, Drum & Bass, Jungle, whatever you call it: this is the book about the real history. Sometime in the past fifteen or twenty years rock died finally, amd weren't you glad? I was happy but I was on E and my vote doesn't count. I was taking alot of smart drugs too and I wrote a few novels on those so-called "pep pills." But I wasn't hanging out in Ibiza with Danny Rampling of Claire Manumission, or even Larry Levin at the Paradise Garage. I was still listening to Wire and Gary Numan. Like most people, at first I didn't care for most techno or house, but you know what? It's all I listen to now (I am still living in 1999). How did that happen? Before I used to listen to a lot of punk, ska and reggae, and then dropped out of the music scene for a while. I liked punk music especially since there were no rock stars, and anyone with long hair (or even looked remotely like Evan Dando) was immediately uncool and we used to beat them up. Boy, we were thugs back then, eh? But sometime in the late 1980s, someone slipped me a hit of E, and this disco record came on and it sounded like the best record I ever heard, and I was in love with everyone and I dove in the middle of the groping room. A few years later, I got serious and became the literary insider, and read Joyce, Proust, Beckett, Pynchon, Irvine Welsh, back to back, you know the story.... Well, what I'm saying is this book is a wonderful read, and adds a little narrative to the no-narrative techno policy. It also documents the most profound youth movement of the last ten or fifteen years. That's what I like about Techno: no rock stars!

Do you need a book that confronts racism, appreciates theater, and shatters stereotypes on a primary level? If so, Amazing Grace, by Mary Hoffman, is the book for you. Not only does this book cover the above topics, but is also highlights on key items for younger readers, such as reading about individual achievements and moral dilemmas.
Grace, a first grade African American female, has an imagination with no boundaries. Grace loves to act out stories that she is told. At school, Grace's heart runs with excitement when her teacher announces that the class is going to do the play Peter Pan. Everyone wants to be Peter Pan, which highlights the enthusiasm for theater among these students. However, as Grace wants to be Peter Pan, her classmates tell her first that she can't because she is not a male. The second reason her classmates say is that she can't be Peter Pan is because she is black. Here lies the racism in this book.
The teacher allows each student to take home lines and memorize them to try out for roles. The best would get Peter Pan. In the mean time, Grace's grandmother takes her to a Romeo and Juliet ballet that features a black Juliet. This inspires Grace to go home and learn those lines as best as she can so that she will be the best one in the class. When it is time to try out, Grace is by far the best Peter Pan and the class votes to let her fill this role. This is where the shattering of stereotypes comes into play.
Past the social issues, Amazing Grace also fulfills the requirements that the Temple textbook states are good children's literature. First, children's literature must speak to the child. Children, especially that would read Amazing Grace, are extremely egocentric. Therefore, they want to read about the potential for individual achievement. Any child that is repressed for any reason could identify with Grace. There are a lot of things that Peter Pan was not, not just simply black. African American students could truly identify with Grace, having to deal with their differences that are spawned by their skin color and culture.
The last noticeable characteristic of good children's literature apparent in Amazing Grace is the presence of in depth thought, especially on morals. This book spawns thought on all the social issues mentioned above. This book would most certainly cause students to re- evaluate their thoughts and stances on racism, stereotypes, and maybe even theater. So many times, students think that what their parents believe is what they have to believe. However, educating students can help not only in letting them make their own decisions, but also educating their parents as well.
Finally, this book is an excellent book for teachers because there are many activities that can be done to accompany the reading. Perhaps this would be a great book to lead into their own class play. Another idea is to place this in a unit on racism and segregation in the upper elementary levels. Also, a teacher could do dress up day and the students could be whatever they want to be. All stereotypes are shattered for the day and each student can be free to be who they are. Amazing Grace may be one of the most influential books that I have ever read on racism and the way that Grace and her family handle this issue is admirable.

First book to a spell binding series.

At first when I started the book I thought it would be all about a teenage outcast trying to fit in at a new highschool.

Soon I found that it was not the case.

I absolutely love the way she uses a totally realistic teenage life senario and adds her dose of gothic fantasy.

Obbie, the main character, is one of the Sons of Dark in a ancient legend. He is also the historically oldest of the group.

This book is all about his life.

Known throughout highschool as a 'loner' he is also apart of a band, finding that music is the only real escape from this time.

As the book progresses, we find out that he will remain the same age forever, he is eternal, moving around when he graduated from highschool and then going to another, imagine stuck in highschool forever.

As strange and mysterious events are put into place, he finds out the truth of his father murder and knows he must avenge his death...what will befall this mysterious youth and his gothic adventure...

You find out...

Obie isn't just any teenage boy, he comes from the third century of our earth and was part of a people called the Visigoths. Obie can't stand where he is and the only realease he seems to have is music. He plays in a band with guys much older than him but, he doesn't care.

He takes a specail intrest in Alison a girl that has it all, the popularity, the friends, and the star football player.

In the end Obie finds out who killed his father and he has been seeking revenge every since. He was inslaved a alternate dimentio called Nefandus and thats where he was made imortal.

Obie and his friends set off to destroy the one that murdered his father.

Read and find out...

Ok i am really behind in my reading... this book came out in '04 and I got it in '05 and didn't finish it until '06 LoL ~~ Anyway about the book: This is a great book. It really is a fun read and the situations Obie gets into are quite funny. Since he's from a different time he doesn't exactly fit in in the modern world. I enjoyed Obie's courage in the story, Berto's recklessness and Kyle's protection over them both. LoL I also liked that Catty was slightly mentioned, but it was a bit sad to know what happened between her and Kyle. Well anyway I reconmend this book to everyone guys and girls! Thanks to DOTM i met a great guy... yes he actually reads DOTM haha... This was a great book and i can't wait to get started on the others. If you wanna chat AIM: yugi naruto girl ~ Lata

Few marketing books has the enjoyable read character. it is safe to say that Big Brands...Big trouble leads the pack. Concise yet informative, the book focus on the notion that marketing is about winning your customers' minds and hearts.

By going through ample examples of famous brands, Mr. Trout dispel some of the conventinoal strategies most companies blindly undertake. Line extention according to him, has done nothing but damage to At&T and Miller Brewing. The giant P&G has lost big on the toothpaste line becasue they forgot what made their brand a hit. Fashionable outlets such as Levi' and M&S needs to rise out from the past and look more into the future by developing their own unique "brand lifestyle".

On the dark side, the book is relatively redundant and by the end of it, it looses out. Also, the recurring negative remarks on another business guru "Michel Porter" was needless and hence lost the book the full the mark.

¡§Big Brands Big trouble¡¨ is a very interesting and comprehensive book. This book have a clear organization which comprise several types of popular mistakes with different big brand cases, how to select a board of directors and how to be a good CEO. I think this book is suitable for anyone who is interested in Marketing or Branding because you could gain a lot of insight from it. After reading this book, you will understand why some brands cannot be established well even they have spent a lot money on advertising, introducing many new products.

This book impress me the most is that Jack Trout illustrated all mistakes clearly by showing how the big brands, like Levis, Burger King, AT&T and Marks and Spencer made in the past. Then you may discover that some of the existing well-known brands are actually making mistakes for their marketing strategies. Moreover, you may get surprise that some of the popular marketing strategies, like line extension, benchmarking cannot promote your product, conversely, they will hurt your company seriously. So you must read this book if you want to surpass your competitors by using appropriate marketing strategies for your company.

Overall speaking, this book is easy to read and understand because Jack Trout delivered a concise and important message in the book ¡V ¡§Marketing is a battle of perception, not product¡¨

This book, by far, is the best book I've read so far for understanding the enemy attacks and how to break sin/bondage in your life and overcome irrational thinking and self discipline issues! I knew that this book was going to set me free from sin or bad habits when every time I sat down to read it I would be distracted. I would get sleepy or the phone would ring or SOMETHING to interrupt my read. If the enemy doesn't want me reading this book, then this book is a threat and has information for taking a foothold back and that just made me want to read it more!

The book is easy to read, it has great prayers in it to read outloud and/or to copy. Sometimes reading the prayers outloud is easier than trying to figure out what to pray yourself.

Also, this book taught me things I didn't know from going to church, so it digs deeper into the spirtual warfare around you that holds you in bondage.

I recommend this book to ANYONE! One of my MUST HAVES as a Christian.

PS. When you get this book, don't let the enemy distract you. Don't let it get lost. Get it. Read it. Pray about it. There are things in this book the enemy doesn't want you to know that will set you FREE and bring you closer and in sync with God.

A+++++++++++++

Very good book for people who want to be free from evil thoughts and know who to live with Jesus in a free and biblical way. Very usufel book as it lets you know who really you are in Jesus Christ and you are hollified and justified in Him, you just need to believe in this fact that whatever you are, you are a king and one of the knig's sons. It reveals facts which the enemy alaways to keep them away from our mind that Jesus Christ came for me and every one has a big folder in His mind. I recommend that book for everyone who wants to take very serious decisions in his life as that book taught me that first I should be purified by the Holy Spirit from my sins, then I will be able to take my decisions without any bondage.

I Give it My Highest Recommendation!

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for spiritual freedom. Learn how to overcome negative thought patterns, irrational feelings, addictions and habitual sins. It's just packed with great information.

This is not a book you can skim through, but if you only have a limited time, or you need to break some major bondage fast, read chapter 13.

If you want to help others break free of the bondage of sin, I recommend putting together a small group and using the study guide that goes with this book.

The Bondage Breaker is a book I'll read many times and get something new out of it every time. I give it my highest recommendation.

The Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson is a tough book for Christians. Many don't want to acknowledge the active spirit world or Satan or demons as real forces within it, because it seems illogical. Christianity has enough of a fight in today's culture without adding possession and spirit caused illnesses. I've been lukewarm about the issue in the past, but when I got the book, I decided to give it a shot. Anderson's stories of people he's worked with whose lives have been changed by defeating demons are amazing. He lays Scriptural foundation as to why we can believe that spirits are active today and why it's dangerous to ignore them. The book is rock solid in its premise, and the anecdotes are powerful and moving. The last seventy pages or so of the book are steps to take on your own to banish the demons that may be affecting your health, physical and mental. I split the reading up over several nights, and what I saw and felt was unbelievable. After the first night's reading, my husband and I suddenly found ourselves arguing. After a week of feeling very blessed with my life in all circumstances, all I could see was the negative. It took a couple more days of reading before I made the connection: I was under spiritual attack. There are difficult steps to take: make a list of everyone you need to forgive and then forgive them one by one out loud for their crimes against you; listing every place where you have allowed Satan access to your life; asking forgiveness for a multitude of sins. It's a tough book to read, but when I finished, I felt fifty pounds lighter. No more sob sessions or inexplicable fights with my husband. When I start having thoughts attacking my peace of mind, I recognize them for what they are. This book is an invaluable tool for Christians.

My neighbor lent me this book since both our kids attending the same school were victims of bullying. It goes into such detail and covers every aspect. It gives you the psychology of the bully and the victim which we could identify with. I thank the author for helping our family and I have a new child in my house, happy and healthy.

After reading this book and applying their principles believe me when I tell you this is a life saver. I have been out of college for 7 years. I began Grad school last quarter. This book gave me the basic steps to relearn and remember Calculus. It takes you through each kind of problem without skipping steps or assuming you already know what you are doing. A big crutch for understanding single and multivariable calculus. -I passed the placement exam and then used the book to assist in other engineering classes.

Even if you understand the principles, the handful of problems in the average textbook are too few to really drill you on the procedures. It's a little like the difference between understanding some music theory and being able to play an instrument. Practice, for those of us who are not math prodigies, is essential. If you are willing to put in the hours and hours, this hugh collection of solved problems is well worth the price.

This is the single text you need to de-mystify calc. It's advantage is that it explains by demonstration... again and again and again... with increasing, but gradual, difficulty.

Keep in mind that most texts are pumped out by publishing houses to churn numbers and are authored by academic staff desiring a professional profile.
This REA text gives you the universal nuts and bolts of calculus without the publishing-house baggage.

This is a pretty good calculus help book, especially if you're looking for a book that will teach you how to do a lot of problems. This book gives step-by-step solutions to the problems it presents, so if you can't figure out what the next step is, you can just glance at the solution to figure it out.

This is exactly what a math student needs, a book that gives plenty of practice problems and solutions to the problems. This book does fall short in a few areas though. It doesn't cover everything in a calculus course (especially in the later levels of calculus), and at times, the things it does cover it doesn't cover enough (like it will give only one or two examples of a certain type of problem, which isn't very helpful). And sometimes the solutions seems to simplify too much or skip a step, leaving you pondering how they from one step to the next. However, this is a problem that seems to plague all solution-type of texts. And my final complaint is that the type of font they use in this book isn't exactly asthetically pleasing. They could have use a different font or do something else to make it nicer to look at.

Overall though, this book gets 4 stars from me because it is one of the better calculus help books I have seen, even if it does have a few short comings here and there.
