Actions the authors say employers need to implement regarding sexual harassment include: Do whatever it takes to understand the law, the issues, and keep current; put in place a zero tolerance sexual harassment prevention policy that prohibits specific behaviors of verbal harassment, non-verbal tactics, and physical harassment; take action to stop sexual harassment that does occur and prevent reoccurrence and reprisals.

KEEP FIGHTING AND BELIEVING THAT 'JUSTIFICATION FOR EMPLOYEER'S WRONG DOING CAN BE ACHIEVED.
READ THIS BOOK AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND!!!
Excellent overview of the basic rights of an injured worker.Review Date: 1998-07-08
There is more emphasis in this book on answers and "by the number" processes than legal precedent or analysis, which I find easier to follow for the lay person. Chris Ball also has a number of forms included with simple completion directions.
If someone is looking for an overview with more legal justification or reference to statutes, the California Workers' Compensation Handbook is an excellent choice. This book by Stanford Herlick is updated every year, and has shorter sections with less hand-holding.
I think that the Herlick paperback is the reference source of choice for the attorney or paralegal to carry in the car or briefcase for quick review of issues and solutions.
Workers Comp Injury? You need to have this book!Review Date: 2004-08-29
Excellent resource for all partiesReview Date: 2004-02-12
This book is easy to read and understand. I am a nurse case manager for workers comp injuries and found this book extremely helpful. I encourage all my clients to obtain this book even if they have a lawyer. It gives them a solid knowledge base when the docs, attorneys and insurance people are throwing terms around.
It is well organized and follows a normal sequence of events. It was written by an attorney who handles workers comp cases.
I highly recommend this book.

The book a Technical Recruiter uses to write his own resumeReview Date: 2003-03-06
I'm ordering more copies. I gave my last one to my wife for an assistant who'd been helpful to her but was being laid off. Using this book, the woman revised her resume and got a new job at the same company making $10k/yr more - probably a 25-30% increase.
As a recruiter, I read thousands of resumes - most of them mediocre. That doesnýt mean Iým good at writing my own resume. I use the book's check lists to make sure I'm not missing anything.
I regard a resume as the best piece of work an individual will ever do. Itýs amazing what you can tell about an individual by ýreading between the linesý of his (or her) resume. What would you do with a Quality Engineer's resume that contains errors? [Toss]! Get this book and use it . . . please.

The book explores the dos and dont's of coping with work place adversity - office politics, nepotism, double standards, personal conflicts, the multi-personality boss, busy bodies, goal setting, career advancement, and so much more.
I reference the book for inspiration and professional guidance!

A nice collection of material on a little known side of the Spanish "Civil War"Review Date: 2008-02-09
The work begins with a useful essay by Murray Bookchin on the Spanish context. He outlines the dizzying array of groups with a stake in the conflict between the Republic and General Franco's forces. The focus of this book is the anarchist collectives--and how they functioned--after the start of the Civil War/Revolution until the eventual triumph of Franco and his allies.
The first part of the book is a set of readings that Dolgoff puts together to present the background and context of the "Revolution" (anarchists describe the conflict as a "Revolution," while others use the term "Civil War"). Among subjects covered: the trend toward workers' self-management (also referred to as syndicalism), the rural collectivist tradition, and so on.
The heart of the book is a set of essays by actors of the time (as well as some quick essays by Dolgoff himself): Augustin Souchy, Diego Abad de Santillan, Gaston Leval, and Jose Peirats). Focal points include urban collectivization (e.g., the efforts by the anarchist unions to collectivize Barcelona) and rural collectives.
This volume ends with an essay by Gaston Laval written many years ago as well as a concluding essay by Dolgoff.
The work is useful, as it describes what was going on in parts of Spain that were not often reported upon by reporters or others at the time. George Orwell (if memory serves) was with POUM, the Trotskyite organization), although he wrote of the anarchists in his "Homage to Catalonia." It provides a somewhat different perspective on the events in Spain in the mid-1930s that helps fill out the picture of the desperate struggle between different groups--from fascists to Republicans to various Marxist groups to anarchists. A fascinating period of time. . . . Too sanguinary for my tastes, but still fascinating.
An excellent book about the Spanish Anarchists.Review Date: 2005-02-10

How do I live without Anselmo? I want to know...Review Date: 2001-06-13
free normal days, I stare at the television, muttering...hoping that his wise but kind face will appear. Hours of syndicated garbage later...I fall asleep, disappointed, dejected, and unwilling to face the morning. Where have you gone Frank Anselmo? Interns turn their lonely eyes to you..whoo, whoo, whoo. God Bless you please Mr. Internship, Frank Anselmo's left and gone away, hey, hey, hey.. So, like General Zod in the sequal to an American classic, I demand to see Superman! I must enter the real world and I demand guidance, and I want it from the man who brought me so much success in the realm of the internship. Nothing else, nothing less, will do. The last time around, I had chapters like "So...You're a Philistine", "Places To Live In NYC if Mummy Won't Pay", and "Dealing with Blasted Lunches: An Intern's Guide to Gastronomy". You remember the magic? I do, and I want more of what Anselmo's cooking. So dust off your keyboard King of Internship Kings, give another Bible, Lord of Entry-Level Lords. We need you. I...need you.

Read This BookReview Date: 2004-04-08
As Solomon guides the reader through the reality of being an "at-will" employee, he dispels often-held myths of employment protection and gives guidelines for genuine empowerment. There are things that can be done to make one's job more secure, as well as pitfalls to avoid. And should one lose one's job unfairly (all too common in the "at-will" universe), Solomon gives a step-by-step description of the processes involved in filing a claim. You Could Be Fired for Reading this Book is both an interesting eye-opener and an important resource to have on hand.

Lawyer coaches workers on real life work problemsReview Date: 2006-03-09
First, the author seems very credible, with decades of valuable
experience, with real-life situations that he's gone through,
and this is what people need more and more, versus ivory tower,
university textbooks from PhD professors who are out of touch.
Second, perhaps this book will be helpful with the author's
consulting profession, as I would guess that a large amount of
his unbillable, hours wasted was spent explaining the a-b-c's
to the average American worker, who would ring him up, or visit
his office about a labor conflict. This book, I would imagine,
will help greatly the average person in sizing up what can and
cannot be done in legal terms about that work conflict.
Third, the author clearly is more Democrat leaning ideologically
speaking, so it's no surprise that this book is for workers,
and NOT for bosses, or HR Managers or even to kiss up to those
people looking to overpower and maintain tight control over
laborers.
Fourth, it's written in a layman's manner, understandable, and
not disnecessarily or overly complicated, which is the right
way to present the facts - which themselves, are introductory
but essential.
Overall, this is an interesting book for people who don't have
any ideas how the workplace and workers' rights relate to
laws as they apply to workers and employees.
e.g. I hired an employment specialized attorney 2 years ago,
and when I finished reading this book, I began thinking that
the lawyer I had hired was absolutely clueless in matters of
law, and was merely trained in procedural events.
