Best technical book I have ever read.Review Date: 1999-01-08
The floppy included with the book contains example files that are used in the book. The floppy also contains utilities and librarys of symbols and parts.
This is a great book. It leaves nothing out. You will find everything here.
I really did not know much about how to use AutoCad, but by reading and working the examples, I learned how professionals use AutoCad.
Many technical books leave out key points and jump from subject to subject. Some even change terminology slightly and leave you wondering. Not this one. This book is a precise work.
Its clear, that the author is an expert in this field. WHAT A GREAT, LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

Drafting-RevisitedReview Date: 2002-02-14
Time came when I wanted to get back into re-learning drafting, but due to family, and time constraints, there's no way I could again take courses. So, I bought the book.
If you're a beginner, don't be put off by the title.
This is exactly the same as the text and workbooks, by the same authors.
Start at the beginning, and pay attention to basics.
If you're a pro, it will refresh your skills.
This has a workbook with it, so practice isn't a problem.
It's all too true, that one shouldn't attempt to draw CAD until the "Board" has been mastered. Without the basics, you're building on a house of cards. My husband works in an engineering firm and sees this all the time. Some of the ideas inside, may seem outdated, but trust me, the priciples are still the same.
I highly recommend it. Personally, I found it practical, challenging and affordable.

Great Classroom bookReview Date: 2005-07-14
This book does a great job in providing clear and precise procedures on using SW to create parts, assemblies and drawings. The book has you create numerous assemblies: two bar Linkage with various configurations, support bracket, bar and collar, etc.
You then insert the created assemblies into drawings. The drawings contain numerous sheets, views and features. You create Exploded views, Isometric views, bill of materials, parametric notes, linked notes, etc. Get the idea? It is a wonderful book from start to finish. This book is accurate, up to date, and easy to follow for all levels of new users. If you are teaching SW, this is the book for your class.

Excellent book by any standardsReview Date: 2005-05-26
The language used is very simple, and the book has a very easy flowing style. For people from India, especially, this is easier to grasp than the american books. The examples, analogies and anecdotes in this book immmediately strike a chord, and I know a number of my friends from college had said the same thing. It was written using metric system and the examples were simple mechanical ones -- the american books, at least available at the time, used inches and architectural examples, which werent relevant to us in our context.
Its been a long time since I did work in CAD, but because of this book, I believe I will still be able to do a fair bit in AutoCAD even now.
Glad to see this book hasnt faded out yet.
