A 31-Day gift of wondeful affirmationsReview Date: 2001-01-27
These cards, as well as the others in the series, Secrets of Inner Peace, Secrets of Success, etc. make wonderful gifts! They are in a jewel case that folds back into a stand that is great by the night stand or on the desk.
I was very fortunate to obtain many of these different sets and some extras of each. These affirmation-a-day cards are wonderful, and contain on each a beautiful picture as well. Truely a classy gift for that special person in your life to give for no other reason than that you love her!
There are 31 cards in this set and the others, and they can be used month after month, or if you have differnt sets, you can change them out ever so often.

Days of Vintage Years of VisionReview Date: 2007-06-11
His father-in-law was Benjamin D. Wilson, charter mayor of Los Angeles, State Senator, and an intriguing political power in California after statehood. Shorb's brother-in-law was George Smith Patton, a fiery orator and father of General Patton of World War II. Rarely was a decision made in the early develpopment of Los Angeles without the influence of this family.
Author Midge Sherwood takes them through the violent years of Los Angeles' little-known gold rush, "oil excitement," and Civil War clashes. With a distinctive style and a talent for synthesis, she reveals their struggles to bring in railroads, build harbors and promote immigration within the context of the time and with a collage of colourful personalities in the area. Pestilence, financial panics and political ploys that often savaged their lives are all a part of this well-documented drama.
Sherwood spent ten years researching the story. She also back-trailed Shorb, Wilson and Patton to "the States" for a personal view of their family origins.
Volume I explores the period from about 1850 to 1880. Volume II [Days of Vintage, Years of Vision, Volume II] continues through Shorb's career as he builds the largest winery in the world and concludes with Patton's founding of the City of San Marino with Henry E. Huntington who, in 1903, bought Shorb's ranch and described him as "a man ahead of his time."

DC Like You've Never Seen It BeforeReview Date: 2008-07-05
Unlike other calendars, DC Bikini Team Calendar photos are almost life-size, taking up 2/3 of the page. It is difficult to break your stare once you eyes have landed on this incredible calendar. This masterpiece is hot, yet classy, colorful and artistic--featuring the full diversity of the all-American girl.
I have the calendar hanging in my bathroom. For the longest time, I could not figure out why my guest, woman as well as men, would take so long to return from a trip to my bathroom. Then I had several guest ask me if they could take the calendar home with them. I then advised them to go to amazon.com and get their own because my calendar was NOT going anywhere.
This calendar is the perfect gift. It is one of my favorite purchases in recent memory.
As long as I have this calendar, I will always have the best display of Washington, DC.
It is truly the best swimsuit calendar I have ever owned and the one of the best expressions of beauty that anyone can appreciate.
DC Bikini Team is a team that every warm blooded man will want to be on and might I say--What a team! What a team!

Great PicturesReview Date: 2008-05-28
So far, this is one of my favorite books on the subject. There are great pictures, both black-and-white and color. The text seems quite readable, and there are great quotes from writings by De Stijl greats like, van Doesburg and Oud.
If you are just looking for an over-view of the De Stijl movement, this is probably not your book (go with the book on Mondrian and De Stijl). But, if you want to dig a little deeper into the phenomenon of De Stijl, I would heartily recommend this book.

Really Nice Postmodern Criticism...Review Date: 2004-06-13
He is looking at the phenomenon of aesthetic Decadence which appeared in European literature c.1885-1905. One can argue that Decadence had earlier adumbrations in Poe, Baudelaire, Gautier, and the Goncourts, but their earlier efforts really saw fruition in the period known as the Fin de Siècle.
One can look at the table of contents to see Bernheimer's topics of Nietzsche, Flaubert, Zola, Huysmans, Freud, etc. But what I want to impart is the excellence of Bernheimer's critique: he has a firm handle on what's become known as Postmodern criticism, but he's much more lucid than others who dabble in the genre. He writes a very nice English: he constructs very pellucid texts with lovely language--vocabulary, syntax, and punctuation. And his vision is very clear: he understands what he sees, and he is able to clearly formulate his vision to relate it Au lecteur (to the Reader) in such a manner as to make it easily apprehendable--something too often lacking in Postmodern criticism. Highly recommended for students and scholars of turn-of-the-century literature, culture, and intellectual history.

According to the Talmud and the Hebrew Scriptures, Daniel received and interpreted dreams and visions, similar to many other Jewish prophets. This new book brings much needed clarity to the text of the prophecies of Daniel through the definitions of codewords, maps, pictures, illustrations, charts, tables and secular historical records. The Author adds comments only where necessary. An understanding of the Old Testament book of Daniel will set the foundation for a better understanding the prophecies in the book of Revelation.
In this book the author adopts a detailed but simple approach to an intricate and complex web of prophetic truths of coming world events. The object of this book is to clarify the symbolisms and cryptic codes in the ancient yet futuristic prophecies of Daniel. For as Jesus said, "And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe."JOHN 14:29. "Take heed that no man deceive you." Matt. 24:4.
