A new Unified Holonic Worldview

Review Date: 2000-05-03
A basic unit system is a Holon, constituted by two basic entities, i.e., a linguistic sign is a unit dual in nature: a concept
and a sound pattern or a signification and a signal, but these two elements are intimately linked and each triggers the other.
In a magnet we have two inherent polarities in interrelation and they are intimately linked too, but in each case the result
is a new entity or a whole that is the result of the interrelation of those two original entities and they are joined together
by the principle of synergy according to this proposal. With this concept as a fundamental mathematical tool a new unified
worldview is presented, whose implications has to do with science, philosophy and spirituality in its widest sense and
as so everyone interested in our future as mankind will find this work useful. The CD format used makes it possible for the
reader to grasp in pictures what a thousand words cannot explain, but the result is a new holonic worldview, whose implication
has to do even with business as is shown in the last chapter. All those interested in the new sciences of complexities and
systems sciences will find in this work new insights regarding a structural definition of the system concept itself. Electromagnetism,
Relativity, Special and General and Schrodinger Quantum Mechanics Wave Equations are presented for the first time in a new
unified framework that gives really a big picture to see reality, all reality. A new deduction of the Pendulum formula is
presented as a truly example of an open system that can even be validated through the pendulum well-known approximation
factor, which is perhaps not the real one after all, as that validation process could demonstrate. A must-study work for
all those interested in the future of our planet from the point of view of the Big Three: Science, Philosophy and Spirituality
whose integration is the main aim of the author project through a web site created for that purpose, and that has been said
by Ken Wilber and others is the great task of postmodernity.

This second volume focuses on several interesting problems arising from mathematical physiscs, making a perfect connection
between the purely theoretical digression and the sources from which it originated.
The contents are: Pseudodifferential operators; spectral theory; scattering by obstacles; Dirac operators and index theory; Brownian motion and potential theory; the "D"-bar Neumann problem. Appendix: Connections and curvature.
Useful for mathematics and physics advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and researchers. Plenty of excercises and references.

How many times in your life have you looked at the physical formula and thought perplexedly: "What does it mean?" Remember
the first time you looked at the formula E=mc2? If you are a curious freshman or even a hoary professional the question, "How
did he get this result?", comes up. Now you are close to looking on the other side of the coin, at something wonderful, something
fascinating. You are about to reveal the workshop of the theoretical physicists! To be honest with you, I did not see the
English translation of this book, but long time ago I read the original Russian book, "Qualitative Methods in Quantum Theory",
by A. B. Migdal, and still keep it on my desk. There were about two dozen students during the semester who attended his lecture/seminar
of similar name, "Qualitative Methods in Theoretical Physics." Those lecture/seminars were informal, quite unusual, unlike
where lectures when a professor smoothly narrates a well-known subject. He worked on a blackboard before the audience. The
subjects were the different aspects of quantum mechanics, statistical physics, and nuclear physics, with numerous examples
from modern and classical physics and mathematics. We watched all movements of his mind when he discoursed some interesting
problem and derived a result using several different methods. He told us, "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. The secret is
to be able to find them." Sometimes he interrupted his work with a note about an analogy between an art and science: "In sculpture,
as well as in theoretical physics, you have to know where you can disregard", or "Solving a real difficult problem is the
rarest phenomenon, like falling in love". The book summarizes his experience as a practical physicist and is a great collection
of treasures that you can not find anywhere else. This book is the greatest resource if you want to know "the secrets" of
theoretical physics. You will know about model and scale estimations and the great importance of symmetry principals, analytic
properties of the physical world, the WKB approximation, variety of perturbation theories, etc.,.. Also, if you aspire to
be a practical physicists or engineer, you will learn how to use these principles to get your own results. It seems to me
this book is unlike his other books because it summarizes the most valuable results of his life's work.

Principles of Nonlinear Optical Spectroscopy - a Must Have

This is an excellent and very important book. The subject of nonlinear optical spectroscopy is a rapidly emerging field that
is important in chemistry, physics, biology, and materials science. This book provides the theoretical underpinning for the
entire field. It deals with a large number of experimental methods and topics that are widely used. This is a complex subject,
and this is not a simple book. To present the theory at a level that enables researchers to understand and design experiments,
it is necessary to go into depth in subjects that are complex conceptually and mathematically. A simplified version of the
theory would be easier to follow, but it would not be useful. This book is a must for anyone in the field of nonlinear optical
spectroscopy, whether he is an experimentalist or a theoretician.

Unfortunately, this book is pretty much the only comprehesive text on the subject, and if you're a grad student about to begin
study in this field, you will need this book. Mukamel is certainly very knowledgable, and he gives a unified treatment of
absorption, transient grating, and photon echo spectroscopies in terms of double-sided Feynman diagrams. However, his treatment
is highly algebraic and builds no physical intuition of the phenomena. If you can understand him, you probably thoroughly
understood the topics before you read the book anyway. Self-study with this book will be frustrating, but it's an important
resource for instructors and others who already understand the topic.

One of the limitations of exacts sciences is the utilization of analytic procedures, where it must use ideal approximates models to represent physical reality, so the Principle of Superposition(the whole is equal to the sum of the parts) holds even though with it we obtain a partial representation of natural phenomena. This proposal uses the BUS as a synthetic(holistic?) and complementary(not necessarely opposed) to that analytical procedures, so we have a wider model, but at the same time better to interpret reality.
The unit concept introduced in this work is based in the well-known Euler Relation, and it is the fundamental of the metrics proposed. The validity of the proposal can be seen from that new perspective he offers for dealing those two problems: the pendulum formula and Schrödinger Wave Equation.
International Scientifical community can find new alternative solutions to practical problems(such as those of chaotic types), and also the utilization of a complementary method to interpret physical reality.
