Review: Building Personal LeadershipReview Date: 2007-09-17
Farcht has developed a system that changes people's attitudes and behaviors, and helps them to achieve 30%-100% increase in their business productivity. His book, Building Personal Leadership, is a way for Farcht to share this knowledge with the world.
The book covers a wide range of topics including: time management, organization, developing the right attitude and effective communication. Farcht discusses success and shows the reader why continuing our personal development is essential to a successful life. He states, "Conscious personal development does not end with High School or with the first job you take. Mental toughness and agility come from being engaged in work and life and learning and developing more of your potential."
I learned a lot from Building Personal Leadership. It challenged me to reach beyond my current knowledge and skills to fulfill my potential. Farcht gives practical advice as well as the reasoning behind his theories. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to get ahead, either in the corporate world or as an entrepreneur.

Leadership through its bestReview Date: 2007-06-08
"Building Personal Leadership" is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to improve their personal and professional performance. The author, Joe Farcht, has years of experience teaching this subject, so he certainly has the expertise to write a book on it. He is a certified Master Personnel and Executive Coach and an expert in the Myers-Briggs Personality Typing. The author obviously loves what he does for a living and has built a wonderful life based on following his own principles.
I really liked the approach that the author used in writing this book. He really understands that to get people to perform at the top of their game they really need to understand their own motivating factors. The first section of the book deals with your own personal goals and the importance of writing them down. Once you understand why you are doing what you are then you can begin to hone your skills and work at your peak performance.
The section on Time Management was my favorite as that is one of my biggest challenges at work. For those of us that can do a better job at this, he already is ahead of us with a list of why our arguments about why it won't work are useless. I am really trying to use the skills from the section to better organize my time and work more effectively.
"Building Personal Leadership" contains a lot of tools and techniques to improve performance on all levels. The chapters address time management, self development, communication skills and putting together an effective team to name just a few. I read it through quickly the first time and now I am going back to go through each chapter more thoroughly, following the exercises and really digesting the information before moving on. By doing this, I am finding that I am making small incremental steps that will lead to big changes in the end.
"Building Personal Leadership" is a very effective tool for improving work skills and efficiency. As he points out "it is said that the Chinese definition of insanity is `doing the same things you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.'" Anyone interested in reading a book like this obviously wants to get out of the insanity and into being a top performer.

Fun for Tool Junkies and Leather WorkersReview Date: 2003-03-14
We just received our copy yesterday, and I expect my husband and I will be competing for it until one of manages to get through it from cover to cover. As the title implies, the author covers almost any tool you could think of used for leather working in the last 2.5 centuries, including things like workbences and stools. :) The book is arranged by trade - bookbinding, boot and shoe making, skinningk, tanning, finishing, etc, with the tools alphabetical by general type within each trade. Some of the descriptions are very brief, and the author spends more time in explanations of how more obscure tools are/were used than for common ones - which makes sense. Definitely enjoyable for the confirmed tool junkie.
