Green provides an excellent introduction to a broad range of topics in the field of Pragmatics and does so in lucid, unaffected prose. This book manages to provide a fairly detailed description of numerous phenomena, including indexical and anaphora, the cooperative principle and implicatures, performativity and a great deal more. This is an excellent book for anyone begining to study Pragmatics or for those just interested in a scientific treatment of how language works in everyday life.

This book provides, in one volume, one of the best introductions to prolog programming and one of the best introductions to natural language processing. It is virtually unique in that it shows how to interface a natural language interface to a theorem prover.

This book was far ahead of its time when it was published, and it is still far ahead of most of the books written today on NLP.

I have studied Spanish for 5 yrs and plan to teach Spanish and this is by far the best grammar review. It covers all the more difficult tenses of the subjunctive and is very thorough. When I teach, I am sure that I will use this text with my students. ¡Qué maravilloso!

model may be formulated because humans have a highly anticipatory
system of modeling the world to increase the likelihood of
survival.

at the meta level. For instance:
o A meta meta system sets forth distinctions that specify
further relations amongst distinctions on lower levels of
the decision-making process
o A set of distinctions sets forth the basis of the comparisons
o Models generate data on comparative relationships between
and amongst individual models
o Distinctions about particular events are analyzed
o Same or similar systems distinctions are made

This book is for the student at the intermediate level of
artificial intelligence sophistication and model-building.

I found this book to be especially helpful as I try to improve my middle school language arts curriculum. The ideas and units presented in the book are not only ingenious, but relevant and realistic for students. A fabulous resource for all Language Arts teachers--rookies and veterans.

When a dear friend of mine wanted to know about natural birth control after having twins that would not violate the dictates of his religion (and his wife spoke primarily Spanish) , I did some research on the web and found this book for him. Not having read it personally, I can only say that they were very enthused, and "learned things they never knew" which I thought was terrific. The twins are 3 now with no younger siblings so something worked.

We happened upon this book at the library and my little girl loves it so much we have to read it every day, so I bought a copy. The story is unique and hard describe. It combines astronomy, Greek cultural themes, and family life themes in a poetic and whimsical narrative. The little girl in the story talks to the moon and names its various phases. In the story the moon seems to come close as a friend or companion. My little one has memorized the entire text, she acts out the actions of the little girl in the story, and as a result of reading this book she has become aware of the phases of the moon. We look for the moon each day and talk about which phase it is in and she has learned new vocabulary in the process (waxing and waning etc). I've never seen another chilrens' book quite like this one. A treasure.

I am so impressed that someone finally developed a fast and easy German course that made it simple enough for me to communicate with my family members in Germany. Coming from a place of zero fluency to conversational ability is no easy task, but Language Dynamics took the pain out of learning German for me.

One of the most influential works in psycholinguistics, a must read for all students and researchers in this discipline. Easy to grasp language and many examples to clarify!
