Raise 'Em Up!
HAHAHA, I told you, Tupac is f@#kin living!Review Date: 2008-08-07
Chapter 1: Ignited Light and the history of Tupac "Amaru" Shakur, Tupac on Religion, Timeline of Tupac's life, Tupac's Revelation, What is the Don Killuminati?
Chapter 2: The Legal & Suspicious Evidence. The Last Night in Las Vegas, the Birth of Makaveli.
Chapter 3: Machiavelli: the Historical Legend, Revision of the Machiavelli Teachings, the Death of Makaveli, Seven Day Theory. Thug Immortals, Numerological Coincidences.
Chapter 4: The Lyrical Evidence
Chapter 5: Why & Where? Speculations on the internet, Chuck D's 18 reasons, the Suspicious Facts and Web Chat.
Chapter 6: The Resurrection. Clever Politics.
Chapter 7: Tupac "Amaru" Shakur and the Introduction of Tupac Amaru and "Shining Path." The History of Tupac Amaru, Hollywood Hints, and A Prophecy to Ponder.
There you have it, all 7 Chapters in the book. This book has more information then just the 7 Day Theory, and all the numerolgical evidence. It has some history of this very religious guy, his name is William Marrion Branham. Also, check this out. William = 7 letters, Marrion = 7 letters, and Branham = 7 letters. Interesting huh? It also has history of the original Tupac Amaru. Its not the history of the rapper, its history of this old legend, his name is Tupac Amaru. Its very interesting stuff.
This Tupac Lives book is not your ordinary Tupac conspiracy book. It has more information then you think. Some stuff you may have already herd about before, but I garantee you that you will be amazed and shocked about this book. Tupac Shakur is living! Let him live in peace, and lets all move on with our lives! Thats what Tupac wants! He also wants a change in this world, he said "if I can't change the world completely, then I garantee you that I will spark someone's brain to change the world." Tupac also said, his old albums are there for people to learn from. He has past all those albums. Obveiously he did because he is a lot older now. I'm talking about 2Pacolypse Now, Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z., Thug Life, Me Against The World, All Eyes On Me, and even the Makaveli album. Tupac is pass those albums and is on a whole other level now. But he wants us to learn from them.
Tupac, I hope you read this review. I understand why you wanted out of the limelight. Let him live in peace, Tupac diserves it! much unconditional love!
Peace & Respect.

Great Prayer Book for ALL Christians....Review Date: 2008-09-29
As a protestant, I have to adjust some of the wording about Mary and the saints, but that is a small sacrifice for the joy of praying with the larger church throughout history!
I heartily recommend this book to anyone who seeks to deepen his or her experience of God through dedicated times of prayer each day!
A Wonderful Prayer BookReview Date: 2007-09-02
This prayer book is put out by the Benedictine community of Glenstal Abbey in Ireland. The book is a slim volume and is easily carried around. It is perfect for someone (like myself) who wants to develop the habit of prayer and needs a nice introduction to it. There is only one ribbon to move around and it just goes from one day of the week to another. The prayers and liturgies are fairly short and can be done in five or ten minutes. The prayers for mid-morning, etc., are perfect for doing in your car before or after lunch (in the parking lot, not propped up on your steering wheel).
If you are looking for a great tool to help you develop the habit of prayer and that is easy to incorporate into your home and work life, this is it.

EXCELLENT PRAYER BOOK BOTH FOR REFERENCE AND FOR REGULAR READINGReview Date: 2006-12-11
Unlike other such Books of Common Prayer or Monastic Diurnals, it is not overwhelming in its requirements. It gently and lightly suggests a system of prayer for every day of the week, and for the holidays, morning and evening, following the traditional monastic format which dates back before Saint Benedict. No wonder as Glenstal is a Benedictine Abbey.
It also includes much of the traditional prayers once so well known but now difficult to locate, in a very useful and handy lay out. Many of those traditional prayers heard at your grandmother-s knee and not heard since but cherished in memory are represented here, as well as suggestions for prayers at every occassion of the day.
Highly recommended for anyone wishing to introduce regular prayer into their lives (or the life which God has so generously lent to us) as a centering worship of recollection and peace in God-s love. An urgently necessary element of any prayerful life.

A Great Book for Oncology Social Workers!Review Date: 2003-09-18
A riveting and radical challenge to the basic assumptions of Western philosophy and psychology, Psychological Investigations is a series of supervisory conversations, set in a clear conceptual framework that therapists-in-training and experienced clinicians have with Fred Newman.
Newman, a methodologist, psychotherapist and teacher extraordinaire, does not focus on individual problems and pathology. He provides no answers. Rather he invites those who study with him, as well as his readers, to engage in an unscientific, performatory investigation of human life. Dive in, he encourages, to a learning challenge that turns everything upside down - how we think about emotionality and truth, what a group is, how the activity of giving helps cancer patients, what it means to make demands on clients without being coercive, and much more. Get to know Fred Newman - his thinking, his values, his sensibilities, his capacity for intimacy in the service of human development. Psychological Investigations is a dialogic approach to the teaching of this radical social/cultural methodology that I think has the potential to take us out of the fly bottle of emotional pain and social crisis that pervades life in the 21st century. If you let yourself be touched, Psychological Investigations can impact profoundly on your therapeutic practice and your life. It is a must read for clinicians and healthcare professionals, students of philosophy, and anyone in despair about the social and moral crises of our times.
Advance your practice and understanding of groupsReview Date: 2003-09-07
Social group work, with its practice of forming homogeneous groups around a common presenting problem, its focus on stages of group development and group tasks was very helpful to me early in my career but of limited use in supporting inner city youth to develop in the context of a school-based mental health program.
Fred Newman looks at the world through a different lens. He does not see individuals, rather he sees groups. While he does not deny the existence of the individual, he sees the group as the fundamental unit of human development. This way of seeing has profound implications for practice. The group, not the individual, is the unit that learns and develops.
This passionate belief in a new way of thinking about what a group is has informed my practice as the
director of an inner city high school mental health program, "Let's Talk About It."
Young people with a range of emotional
and social problems are invited to become partners in creating their own mental health program. With a ten year track record
of success, young people are becomming choicemakers as they graduate or tansfer to a new school to go on and take responsibility
for their lives.

A Book for Anyone Who Wants to Transform Their Life!Review Date: 2003-08-31
Psychological Investigations gave me a bird's eye view of a therapeutic approach called "social therapy." As a long-time therapy patient of various disciplines, I was curious to know what makes it different from other approaches. It satisfied my curiosity by sharing actual conversations between the founder of social therapy Fred Newman, and therapists.
Based on the premise that "building the group" is the cure, social therapy
is a methodology that goes against the individualistic pull of the world. But how does it work?
In the chapter called "Mundane
Creativity" Newman talks about individuals in a therapy group coming together each week from all across the city...." people
are exceedingly individuated; everyone has had a different week, and yet we come together as a group. The interesting and
fascinating question is, what can we create together in order to make this therapy session a valuable event? What can we build?"
That's the question, and from what I can tell, the answer is the cure!

A fresh new look at creating transformative groupsReview Date: 2003-09-04
Edited by Dr. Newman's colleagues, Lois Holzman and Rafael Mendez, "Psychological Investigations" is a book of dialogues between Fred Newman and his students (mostly therapists-in-training). Newman's postmodern words and vision are transformative. In keeping with this non-descriptive, non-objectifying, and non-assuming methodology for human growth and development, these dialogues are not talk about some thing as much as they are the thing itself - a performance of social therapy. One gets the sense in reading this book that Dr. Newman and his colleagues are creating social therapy right before our eyes. This, to my understanding, is the essence of this performatory methodology, which is not based on 'knowing' or an accumulation of knowledge but on creative, dialectic, group activity - building a group through the questioning and dialogic challenging of assumptions.
A Stanford-trained philosopher, Newman draws heavily from the philosophic works of Karl Marx and Ludwig Wittgenstein and from the early 20th century developmental psychologist Lev Vgotsky. Newman's understandings resonate with the postmodern writings of Ken Gergen, Harlene Anderson and Richard Rorty.
Those unfamiliar with Dr. Newman's previous books may wonder what a philosopher could teach us about `real' life - about human behavior, growth and development. In Part I, editors Lois Holzman and Raphael Mendez answer this question by providing the reader with the social, political, and intellectual history of Newman's development as the founder and leader of the social therapy movement.
In particular, I find Lois Holzman's writings to represent the most cutting edge, uncompromising and intellectually rigorous thinking in the developmental psychology literature. In my opinion, Dr. Holzman is years ahead of her modernistic, behaviorally-oriented colleagues. I would highly recommend her articles and co-authored texts with Fred Newman to anyone who has a serious interest in human behavior in any context - be it organizational, family, education, therapy, corporate business, or politics - and to anyone who has a serious interest in their own growth and development.

Extremely helpful bookReview Date: 2002-08-22
However, the most useful part of the book is the chapter on sources and writing. He skillfully shows readers how to choose a topic and narrow their focus into a managable paper. He also discusses the use of CD-Rom and Internet sources, a necessity for any good book on the writing of history in the early 21st century, particularly due to the increase in the reliance on Internet research by college undergraduates and HS students that are comfortable with this technology. The book also makes actually doing research seem like not such a daunting scary task, which at first thought it seems like for many undergraduates. The one problem with this section is that Marius advocates the use of paper notes. As has been seen with many professional academic historians lately, the use of paper notes can end up costing the writer dearly, particularly with the use of a large amount of sources. Marius should have included a section on how to use a data base or other computerized note taking system.
Marius also uses many examples to back up his points throughout the book, even publishing one complete paper and then commenting on its strengths and weaknesses in order to give the reader a better understanding. The remainder of the book is an extremely useful three chapters on writing mechanics as well as quoting and citing a variety of sources. I found the section on footnotes quite good and useful. This section will be especially useful for the undergraduate who arrives on campus without ever having to use footnotes while in high school.
Overall, this is an outstanding book. The only real drawback is that since its publication (3rd edition) the sections on the Internet are in many ways obsolete. But with the ever changing technology and things available on the Internet, both good and bad, no book can keep up.
Helpful Resource on HistorographyReview Date: 2001-11-21
Compact and inspirational, the author makes his points by way of examples and citations from historians. Passionate about his subject area, he communicates this well and infuses it into his observations and recommendations for writing about historical topics.
While the jury is still out on my first paper to utilize this resource, I already know I am a better writer of history for having utilized this fine resource. Just the idea of grabbing your reader and making him want to read the rest was useful.

Another funny thing about this book...it helps you to understand kids better. For readers with their own kids, this could be the greates value of all.

Sylvia Beach and the Lost GenerationReview Date: 2007-02-09
This is an ambitious and serious work, accessible in style, and packed with information in over four hundred pages. It has three main themes, clearly defined in the introduction.
The first is the love between Adrienne Monnier and Sylvia. The details of this, so we are told, 'were and are still little known' in 1983 when this book was first published. The second is her admiration for, and championship of, James Joyce. The third is her bookshop, Shakespeare and Company, which was a key feature of the literary scene in Paris between the two World Wars.
By far the most detail is provided on her professional relationship with Joyce. Her efforts to get Ulysses published and smuggled into America, her financial and personal efforts to support the author, and the amount of time and energy she invested, are the key theme of the book.
Naturally Sylvia knew all the other familiar literary figures of the time. Hemingway and Pound are frequently mentioned, as is Gertrude Stein.
As intimated in the introduction there is less to be said about more personal relationships. In a way this seems rather a pity. The anecdotal style and recurring references to various incidents along the way give the writing a rather disjointed feel. Inevitably there is also a certain sense of déja vu particularly for anyone familiar with biographies of Hemingway for example.
The strength and the weakness of the book is the amount of text devoted to James Joyce. Joyce attracts great, but not universal, enthusiasm. The man himself seems to have had more arrogance than charm. Depending on the side of this divide which the reader favours this book will firmly hold the attention or will, in places, rather pall.
