This book is really helpful for people starting out (like students or novices), or for anyone who really needs to kickstart their "outside-the-box" thinking. It has a lot of drawing excercises, each excercise is pretty quickly done in your spare time, and their is even space on each page for you to sketch. The only thing I don't like is that for a workbook, too many excercises require you to use outside materials (ex: stamp pad?) or the computer (ex: type excercises) I enjoy it though and recommend buying it, but not at full price. :)

This is a useful step-by-step book that is very helpful to those who wish to improve their memory. Reading the book can save you the embarrassment of not remembering the names of some of your important customers when you bump into them in the street or to forget some important appointments or your spouse's birthday.

The book is interesting to read and easy to follow and understand. It is divided into 10 chapters which you can read as the author recommended at one chapter per day and you should complete it in 10 days. I completed it in a couple of days but I have gone through it a number of times to ensure that the message sinks in and sticks. I have found the simple steps and tips for remembering things to be workable as my memory has improved, especially in recalling people's names. I still have some way to go but I am confident that by practicing the tips in the book, I should be able to remember phone numbers, lists, appointments and other important things which have given me confidence to address people by their names without fearing calling someone the wrong name or having a mental block.

I have learnt the memory improving techniques such as association, visualization, imagination and organisation and I have started applying them with encouraging results.

The book is good value for money and is therefore recommended.

Whether you are trying to remember names, phone numbers, dates, appointments, lists, or other items it is easy once you have mastered the techniques presented here. While there are no new techniques presented, it does provide an overview of the various memory methods (loci, peg, phoenetic, etc.) and how each one is used. There is one difference in the phoenetic method presented here and the method as traditionally taught. The method taught here is easier to use with lists of less than a hundred items but would be more complex with larger lists. Still it is an interesting variation. This is not instant memory, but does provide the listener with the tools and techniques to remember anything you have a desire to recall. Within ten days you can gain enough knowledge to have a substantially better memory. If you are serious enough to master the techniques then they will serve you the rest of your life and you will be sure to stun others with your ability to recall just about anything you want to remember.

Great information presented in an entertaining manner. All about black films -- it answered questions I didn't even know I had.

This is a great idea for a book. With roughly a century of black film history, it's about time that somebody documented it in terms of quality and relative importance.

The book starts with a discussion of the Jack Johnson vs. Jim Jeffries heavyweight fight film. The U.S. Congress was apparently so threatened by the sight of Johnson beating up a white man, that they banned all film fights from interstate distribution.

This sets the stage so to speak of the book's discussion of fifty films which it deems important. Rather than rank them numerically, the book groups the films by decade (except for silent films which are grouped together). It begins with THE RAILROAD PORTER (1912) and ends with THE BEST MAN (1999). Also included is a special section on influential independent films.

Invariably in a book like this, there will be disagreement about the selection of films (for example, only three films from the 1950s are included as opposed to a whopping eleven in the 1990s). However, for every time that you scratch your head wondering why a certain film was included (or excluded), there'll be another film that you'll totally agree with the selection. This is the real fun of the book.

This book gives the black film fan ample fuel to promote discussions for hours about the merits of a particular film. Also included are interviews with key participants in several of the films. Some are very informative, some are down right amusing. One in particular is director Euzhan Palcy's interview regarding the making of A DRY WHITE SEASON. In it she talks about working with Marlon Brando (who received an Oscar nomination for his performance). You might be quite surprised by what she says about him.

Because it covers partically the entire span of film history, it's a great introduction for those who know little of black film prior to the 1970s. A wide variety of genres are covered from musicals to historical dramas. The book also provides a mix of commercial films and little seen independent ones. For most people, the book will remind you of some films and make you aware of new ones.

At just 312 pages, the book is a quick read. Unless you're a film scholar, you're bound to discover a wealth of information about a number of films. For the serious film buff, the entries might be too brief.

However, the regular movie goer should be right at home with this book. You'll find it written in plain English, free of technical jargon. If you have a party and things are getting a bit dull, put this book on the coffee table and see if things suddenly perk up.

Although some are easier than others, thinking outside the box is required for these challenging and clever brainteasers! A unique collection that will truly inspire creative thought.

I thought I knew a good bit about sparking my creative juices, but Aha! showed me through fun and often frustratingly challenging puzzles that there's more than one way to view a situation. The only problem is that now I lok for hidden meanings in almost everything I read...but that's well worth the price for being able to now think about things in 3D.

This book is worth reading. Easy to read without being superficial. Gives multifaceted information that you can use to change your outlook on life.

i was afraid (as i am with many new age books) that "art of everyday ectasy" was going to err on the corny, enlightenment-pretending side like many in this genre. however, ms. anand brings solid, confident insight to this topic, and some very good ideas for rising to your own potential for everyday ectasy.

Fascinating! A candid look behind the curtain of various creative minds, the listener hears their first-hand stories of inspriration. Interviewing such diverse people as sound designers at Skywalker Ranch where the Star Wars sound effects are done, how Dave Brubeck turned his crying baby's voice into a hit jazz tune, or how a delusional satire entrance essay won a student admission to his college of choice. This tape has 8 interviews only 2 or 3 of which had trouble holding my attention (mostly due to the interviewer, not the content). A great way to pass an hour in traffic or on the stair-master.

I checked this book-on-tape out of the library where I work, and I totally enjoyed listening to ALL the stories on creativity! I want to hear more! Whether you listen to NPR or not, you will love this slice of American life. EXCELLENT!!!!! It even made driving in rush hour ok!

A very powerful book that causes the reader to examine behavior patterns that drain energy. I could identify with this author's "energy pirate" patterns more than the ones identified in the Celestine Prophecy. The author has an engaging and simple style - a fast read, and a book that I will continue to read again.

If you ever thought you might have an interest in art, or if you never did, this book will open your eyes to the creativity that lies within you. The author is an artist but she writes for a much wider audience, comparing the artistic process to the spiritual journey. The last time I played with watercolors was 1977, but author Kincannon so inspired me that I signed up for a watercolor class and I'm loving it! If Ms. Kincannon had one message for me, it was "Take time for yourself and listen to what's inside you." This book can be life changing if you allow it to do its work.

This book is for someone seeking a closer relationship with God and has two tracks--one for a spiritual seeker and one for a person who uses his/her creativity to express faith or relationship with the Lord. It gives good exercises to use to bring us closer to the Lord through creative means. I am using this in a workshop in a few days and trust it will be of help to the participants.

Just bought this book and I think it is excellent at giving you new ideas to present your flowers. It has fairly good explanations on the mechanics, although I would say that you need to have some knowledge of flower arranging techniques to follow the instructions, and fill the gaps on how to resolve some things that are not explained in detail. A very good book for flower designers.

Life 3 is a group of European Floral Artists which defies convention. Their "bouquets" are quirky, inventive floral whimsies that bely the technical precision and handwork in the structures. These are not your grandma's posies.

For designers, or just plain curious, there are photos detailing the bouquets being made.

It's a fun and inspiring book for flower lovers of all kinds.

I think this is a book as I had not read one in a long time, a so simple way to remember details to communicate and get great relationships with people around you. I worked with it and i got a better way to enjoy life.
