I used this book for the past three PowerPoint 97 classes which I taught at a local community college. It is clear, easy to follow, and definitely one of best book for learning PowerPoint 97 at the beginning and intermediate levels.

Coming from someone who only buys "Dummies" books, I decided to try this book instead, mainly because the easy-to-follow steps where much more colorful and simpler than the "Dummies" books. I was so glad I purchased "Easy Powerpoint!" I wish they had one for Corel!! I went through the entire book, using the authors examples and was a pro in less than 8 hours! It covered most of the material which is in "Creating Cool Powerpoints," but was much easier to read and follow along with. I wish this series was as widely distributed as the "Dummies, and Idiot's" titles.

Required reading for my Information Engineering and Technology class. Everything you read and learn about in this book is applicable to virtually any project you begin. Though you get a lot of valuable infomation, I gave this book my r2r rating...rough to read, just like any technical manual.

EATING THE IT ELEPHANT: MOVING FROM GREENFIELD DEVELOPMENT TO BROWNFIELD provides a complete approach to evolving and transforming Legacy IT Systems, and will appeal to any advanced computer collection strong in IT management. The problems involved in legacy systems are clear: the authors here identify root problems, offer up approaches that feature balance and more efficient communication and transformation programs, and take a slower and more methodical approach to change than others. Highly recommended.

The book is full of real-world examples and the content would make it an excellent text book for a class on eCommerce or ebXML in any University. However, it was written with a personal flair that makes it very readable and easy to follow and understand. It will continue to be a valued reference book in my eCommerce library for years to come as it hits on subjects that are relevant for today and tomorrow, as well as giving a good historical perspective of EDI and other standards for business messaging.

The real difference of this book is that its focus is on how to use ebXML to solve real-world problems with examples, rather than providing an overview of the ebXML specification itself.

In this study guide, Hall and Lieberman provide an excellent accompaniment to their brilliant text. All the exercises are very clear, as is the answer key, which gives one the opportunity to see where one went wrong in a particular concept. The scope of the study guide is exactly the same as that of the book. Basically, if you can do everything in the guide, you have mastered their concepts.

Despite the fact that I think some "axioms" of economics are based on muddy, suspect foundations, I gave 5 stars to this book because it is a FUNNY and very didactic introduction to microeconomics. So that, if you want to grasp the main principles of this area I think you will have an excelent "companion" in your hands. Most examples are very practical and cool.

Their macroeconomics book is also very didactic. I think it is a characteristic of the authors.

I am taking a Educational Measurement class this semester and so far I have found this textbook to be a thorough and relevent guide to the class that I am in.

I bought this book because I wanted to understand what electronic publishing is about and what the future might hold. I also wanted to understand if I could publish my own novel and how I could go about using tools like Microsoft Word or Framemaker to do so. I found the book was a good read and the history of electronic publishing was pretty interesting, I didn't know the first printed books were printed to look like handwritten books. My questions about how to publish my own books were mostly answered and the information on tools and fonts was helpful. The CD that comes with the book was very handy as it had the entire book in PDF format and I could do a full text search on the book, so when I wanted to search on something like fonts, I could find every hit in the book. Also some sample ebook chapters on the CD showed me how I could publish multiple ebooks from Word. The section where experts from companies like Microsoft talked about the future of epublishing was also good.

Because these applications involve increasingly sophisticated concepts in signal processing, this book includes practical introductions to network theory, linear system theory, modulation and detection, noise, guarding and shielding, and analog and digital instrumentation. The book is written for M.I.T. physicists and other scientists who need to design their own test equipment. Thus it is not a cookbook, but it is very practical and goal-oriented. It discusses many standard circuits and describes exactly how and why they work, jumping right into methods used to analyze them (KVL, KCL, Norton and Thevenin equivalences).

As an example of the clear approach to circuit analysis, it starts with circuits that use op-amps because they are easy to understand (i.e., as black boxes). (It also includes their real-world limitations and manufacturer's specifications.) Only later does it describe (and analyze) transistor circuits. Of course, many more circuits (e.g., CMOS, digital) are described (and analyzed), but the important point is it gives you the tools to analyze correctly the circuits for yourself.

If you like being able to understand precisely what is going on, and don't want to be babied, THIS IS THE BOOK.

I read this for a class. It was a good book, though outdated now after 4-5 years.

You could probably learn a lot from it, and pruchase it for very little money right now.

I used this book for a CTUonline.edu class and have found it to be very well written. I am already familiar with how the e-commerce world works, but for those that are not, it does a great job of explaining just about everything. Plenty of website references and case studies so that you understand HOW businesses are implementing various e-commerce strategies.
