Deaf Way II: An International Celebration presents 250 full-color photographs with captions and brief essays that superbly capture a July, 2002 event in which more than 9,700 deaf people from around the world met in Washington, D.C. to share arts, research, and languages in a cultural festival. An amazingly vivid portrayal of people enjoying and exhanging highlights of life, experience, and art, Deaf Way II is truly breathtaking, from its glamorous images of the "Thousand Hand Bodhisattva" dance as portrayed bye the China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe to behind-the-scenes glimpses from the tireless individuals who worked so hard to make the gathering such a grand success. The Design 2000 Sourcebook is a wonderful resource of artists and craftspeople whose work centers around a Western theme. Each year the Western Design Conference sponsors a juried show in Cody, Wyoming, showcasing furniture and fashion designers as well as the makers of jewelry, art, home accents and accessories. This books presents the participants and their work in hundreds of lavish full color photographs and includes artisan biographies and contact information. There are others included here such as interior designers, long home builders, and guest ranches - as well as articles by architects and designers giving their take on the meaning of this very popular style of design. Even if you aren't looking to furnish a home, you will be fascinated with the beauty and diversity of the work featured in this lavish book. I understand that the 2001 version will be available this fall. Can hardly wait!

Should you read my book? You may find it useful and even enjoyable if you are interested in a little-known story of the Cold War in which prominent people from both the Soviet and American sides worked with each other to try to avoid nuclear holocaust. These conversation began at the height of the Cold War; in at least one form, they continue. The people at the table included David Rockefeller (who wrote the introduction), Al Gore, Arthur Miller, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Brent Scowcroft, and a host of businessmen, political figures, writers, and scholars from both sides of the Iron Curtain.

You may also find in it an introduction to a different approach to international relations, one that could make the storms of today's world easier to navigate. Based on the idea that the world is becoming less defined by states and more by the interaction of peoples, it is not a pollyanish approach to resolving conflict, but one that finds value in the lengthy, difficult work necessary to bridge the gap of understanding between adversaries utterly opposed to each other, who see the world in strikingly different ways.

Some have found the book well-written; David Rockefeller found it true to his experience. I hope you read it and discover something memorable.

One of the ideas I gleaned from this text is that good design--I mean truly splendid arrangement of color and line and content and light and dark and positive and negative and the oftentimes unconscious decisions that go into the *creation* of such (where does inpiration come from, anyway? off topic)--simply can't succeed or exist or grow as a statement of mathematics.

Hmm. What I mean to say is that Spocking the web experience for Kirks who don't view, say, the Web, as a psychological and/or mathematical model is to be--at the very least--incomplete. And that's not so bad. And also otherwise disregarding design via passion via inspiration in favor of GUI-by-psychologist and markup-language-by-programmer is, uh, a real bummer. I mean, to measure a designers work by parameters like user comprehension isn't invalid at all, just really, really deflating.

Includes chapters on how to get records from the county clerk, what a clerk of the rout does, locations and divisions, the Municipal court, the County Recorder, fees (in 1959!), the court commissioners, law libraries and where to look, registrar of voting, sheriffs, marshals, tax assessor, and also not government such as corporations, the DMV, Sec of State, banks & trusts, sureties & bonding, bail agents, credit services (how to use credit assn. facilities, the media, title insurance, and on and on.

Actually pretty interesting stuff! Highly recommended.

This prophetic warning written in the Reagan/Papa Bush days of economic disparities in which the rich grew immensely richer is more relevant now in our present time of extreme crisis in which our national government, after claiming responsibility, leaves our elderly and infirm out in a hurricane to drown, and kills an estimated million Iraqis for oil.

Instead of the self-deceiving smug books so popular to read by those who oughht to know better, get this and face the reality of our imminent downfall as a nation under the weight of our own excess, inequality and injustice, with no one else to blame but ourselves alone. Then read the Reverend Father John Dear's Jesus the Rebel for our salvation as a nation and as a Faith.

This book directly and courageously condemns the kind of all-consuming corporate greed which leaves the majority of us without basic human services nor a chance for economic advancement nor the American dream, and yet which now eats out the heart and soul and treasure and future credit of our nation. THis book spoke prophetically a generation ago, which is why the powers and dominions have so entirely discredited our Church as a moral authority and bankrupted her through punitive court cases

Full of insight. It is as though the author has interviewed God. I have never known a better interpretation of God's love for mankind. This approach totally destroys the traditional concept of legalism. Christ, Himself, said that He is the Bridegroom and we are the "bride", a relationship based upon love, not legalism. Oh the joy of a heart made new by a loving relationship with Jesus. I no longer enjoy the sins I used to crave. I no longer wonder about forgiveness. My CHANGED LIFE is witness to accuracy of this authors' presentation of God's love for me. Emilio has had this experience and this book is his testimony. EVERYONE should read and understand the GOD presented in this book. -dkw

This two volume set is the published proceedings of the conference named in the book's title. Over 200 papers were presented in 18 different technical areas. The conference was multidisciplinary with many international participants; despite the title, you can find papers dealing with lunar science, space law, and other topics. The major technical areas of the papers, organized into sections of the book are:
1) Planetary surface structures on the Moon and Mars;
2) Space resources and in-situ materials utilization;
3) Space energy;
4) Space mining and excavation;
5) Space automation and robotics;
6) Life support systems;
7) Lunar-based astronomy, and;
8) Space Education

The importance of the book lies in its value as a "snapshot" of what a broad segment of the space community was thinking about in 1972. The book is excellent for providing us with an overview of important topics and challenges that must be considered for future space development. Indeed, virtually all of the topics continue to garner significant attention and work across the space community, e.g., within NASA, other government space agencies, academia and industry. It is excellent for providing context for practical discussion of space colonization. I frequently refer to it in my own work at NASA

This compendium of all the lectures at NACIE 94 will be a tremendous tool for evangelists in the future. I trust that, as you need quality information of the topics covered at NACIE, you will find this treasure chest of information a tremendous reference tool.

The goal in producing this compendium was to serve you with an excellent evangelism tool as well as allow you access to the vital documentation shared through the gifted leaders of evangelism in North America from various denominations and evangelistic teams who are noted for the effective practice of personal outreach.

Since we have never before had a conference of this nature across all the denominational lines in North America. I know you will treasure this compendium and use it to the enhancement of your ministry and the growth of the kingdom of God. May our Lord bless you richly as you continue to tell others about the greatest friend they can have, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
