A waste of money
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-08-20
I use Matlab's fuzzy logic toolbox for my classes, and from the title guessed that this book might serve as a handy tutorial and reference guide for my students. Instead I found the book poorly organised and typeset, hardly illuminating and full of language errors. No way I could use this book in class. Much more insight into the subject matter is to be gained, and a lot of money to be saved, by reading Matlab's own help files.

Book has too many errors
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.

This book has numerous errors. I am surprised it was printed in the first place. I found myself having to derive any equation they show because I eventually just didn't trust what the book said.

Algorithms
Large Order Structural Eigenanalysis Techniques: Algorithms for Finite Element Systems (Ellis Horwood Series in Mathematics and Its Applications)

Poor maths and out of date
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2003-08-30
This book is pretentious, and fails to provide any practical solution to the topics discussed. Its maths are poorly rigorous. It looks like an ordinary PhD thesis: Apparently rigurous but leading nowhere. Please save your money, there are hundreds of better books on this topics, like Sagan (1989), Parlett (1998), Patton (1997).

Collection of papers

It's a collection of papers u won't understand anyway. So instead of paying an exhorbitant price for only 200 pages, buy a Ferrari instead.

this was disappointing

I did expect a mathematical point of view on Tangrams in this book. Instead, the author sticks with tesselations (creating a mosaic like pattern) all over the book. He never goes into detail about the mathematical background. I was disappointed by this book that leads nowhere.

The subject document is actually a reprint of a 1997 Naval Postgraduate Thesis, which followed the original DaMi (Data Miner) project report and publication. The author had limited exposure to and experience with the actual operation of the system, and an even more limited understanding of modern Genetic Algorithm theory. Although an excellent addition to anyone's "Government cover-up of Gulf War Illness" collection, it is an obscure excerpt from the more comprehensive collection of academically peer-reviewed (including IEEE) publications on the subject.
