Easy Plan To Follow

I heard the author at a financial seminar in Dallas in October of 2000. He spoke immediately after Wade Cook. Mr. Cook mentioned Charles Steed had a really good book about real estate (this was not a real estate seminar). After that, I heard about this book again so I ordered a copy. I must say, this is the easiest book to follow on buying real estate I've seen, and I've read most of them. It outlines a step by step plan a child could follow. Steed also uses stories that help make his point. Although the author seems to be speaking to people buying a home, the techniques are ones he has used in his investing career and are great for investors just beginning as well as people with some experience behind them. The technique for generating a cash down payment is EXCELLENT. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get started investing in real estate or simply buying a home.

There are many more ways to buy a piece of property than just going to the bank and begging for a mortgage - this book explains them. I was told we couldn't qualify for a loan. I heard the author of this book on the radio in Florida, bought the book, and within 3 months was able to make a deal to buy a nice three bedroom house in Tampa with 100 percent seller financing. It is also filled with ideas on how to make money investing in real estate. The book comes from the standpoint of being optomistic while shopping for your house and always going for what you want. I doubt we'd be in our new house now without it. It also does a great job of explaining real estate finance so even a novice can understand it.

This book provides a a positive outlook and roadmap for decision-making in a gray world, where it is often difficult to determine the ethical and correct direction. Mr. Barkley provides an objective view of modern-day ethical dilemmas and then turns one's focus towards not only finding the correct solution, but also identifying and quantifying the reasoning behind the correct solutions. I found the book both educational and entertaining, and believe it to be on the cutting edge of this popular topic.

This book was very good and extremely informative. It is so nice to see someone writing on a subject that seems to have lost its place in business today. I would highly recommend this not only to business people, but to anyone who lives a life with ethics.

The authors of the book are quite well-known as professors in Michigan Uni.It is one of the best book for a new-comer or student to supply chain field. It owns a lot of industrial insights as supporting cases and also, quite a few other useful data and tables. The theoretic structure of the book is quite fruitful and helpful, especially to whom wanna have a clear and complete picture of the supply chain management. It not only discuss the issues of logistics and supply chain management, but also, which I think is much more constructive, provide the reader a whole new view of the business operation and management. It raises the question how to run a successful and competitive firm and offers some useful ideas to help the reader to reach the conclusion by himself. It is quite a good book for students to use at class and read off class as well.Of course, managers who interested in supply chain and logistics should appreciate it very much!

After reading a review of this book in the Los Angeles Times I went and bought this book for myself. I skimmed over the various chapters and have read the ones that were most important to my situation. I certainly agree with the very favorable review it received in many ways. But, most importantly, you don't have to be a millionaire investor to get a wealth of information that this book provides. Easy read, too!

The little monologue that screamed with laughter
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2004-02-05
Laughed so hard I cannot listen to this album all of the way through in one sitting. I think it benefits from the lack of a 'moral to the story.' It's just Spalding relating his life for the cautionary tale it is.

Required listening for first-time home buyers, it's the story of how he was bullied, albeit willingly, to buy a house he felt pity for: "The little house that cried." (Better that shack than the one that the agent said they could get cheap because the owner had to pay for a kidney transplant for his daughter.) Having just bought a house I can attest that it's just like Spuddy said it was. ...it's refrigerator day ...it's refrigerator day!!

Both the Gang of Seven CD/Audio download and the video are blindingly funny. Do not try to operate a car while listening to this performance.

The pleasures of another's terror

This is a tale for anyone who's bought or is about to buy a house. Gray creates a nightmare for himself in buying a rundown, white trash hovel - a story which just when you think he can't make matter worse for himself he does.
Gray's monologue's are brilliant constructions of autobiography and metaphor and this is no exception.
You'll have to listen to it all the way through in one sitting, as just as Gray's hysteria builds so will your laughter.
Highlights include an answerphone message from the seller, who in trying to cover up a lie only makes the lie more apparent, and Gray's audition for a movie of the week.
Much better than the HBO TV version, and a good introduction to Gray's work.

A milestone to apply Coase theorem

You should have know what Coase theorem says in your secondary school but you never know how to apply it before reading this book. The achivement of the book is not just to correct the wrong traditional views in share cropping but to show you the way an economist should pursuit - the importance of empirical evidence to test your theories.

I read the new edition of Irwin's TIPS & TRAPS WHEN NEGOTIATING REAL ESTATE just before making an offer on a condo. I figure the book's ideas saved us at least $8,000 off the price. I'd recommend it to every buyer to read BEFORE you make your offer.

the definitive guide to title insurance
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2007-02-04
This book is not just for real estate professionals. It can be used by paralegals, notary signing agents, homeowners, ... anyone and everyone who is involved in real estate transactions and who wants to gain a better understanding of what title insurance is and is not. It's an excellent text for self study, and it lends itself well for use in a classroom for continuing education courses. It can be used by the novice as well as the expert.

Each of the 6 chapters begins with a set of clearly defined learning objectives. You will know from the beginning what you will be able to do when you have completed the chapter. There is also a list that contains many key terms. Just about every conceivable term that relates to title is included in these lists. At the end of the reading there is a summary. Each chapter concludes with review questions to test your knowledge. There are also stimulating discussion topics. You can attempt to answer them on your own, or they can be used by classroom participants.

It would require too many words to say in this review what you will learn from this book. There is so much that you will learn. This is one of the most thorough treatments of title insurance that you will find. You will learn what title companies do, what title insurance is and the benefits of it, the truths about title insurance versus the many myths about it, how to read a title commitment, all of the things that can affect title, the various types of title insurance policies, the steps involved in the title insurance process leading up to the closing and issuance of a title policy, the role of the title abstractor and other key participants in the title process, and so much more. There is not a single wasted word in this textbook.

The last several pages, which make up the appendix, contain title insurance forms and samples. You will be able to see what an actual title insurance policy looks like and all of its stipulations. In addition to the key terms listed in each chapter, there is a glossary of terms at the back of the book. If you answered the review questions at the end of the chapters, you can evaluate yourself with the answers that are provided at the end of the book.

The author, Jeanine Johnson, is highly qualified to write a book on this subject, having served in many different positions and facets in the title insurance industry. If you're looking for just one book to learn about title insurance, I highly recommend this textbook.
