Alternative medicine works for alcohol abuseReview Date: 2008-02-24
I'm happy drinkers have more options with this book. Now, in addition to cutting down or stopping, they can get a little extra help with the herbs and supplements in this book. Every drinker should own this book.
this book sends an important message . . . Review Date: 2007-08-10
alcohol abuse treatment. i gave this book to a friend of mine who has a
drinking problem but was dead against stopping or going to AA. he was
receptive to this book because it gave him some organic alternatives to
drinking less. in other words it got him started doing something about
his drinking.
some people just need a little shove to do something about their drinking
and this book provided that little shove.
Brilliant! Why hasn't anyone written about this before?Review Date: 2006-07-20
This book opened my mind up. I guess no ones written about alternative medicine to address alcohol abuse because the disease concept and AA are so deeply ingrained in the US.
This Book Cuts Alcohol Cravings Without Prescriptions!Review Date: 2007-07-31
found that talks about how other alternative medicines and other cultures
view alcohol abuse and how to treat it. I was thinking about getting
prescription medication to cut the desire to drink but after reading this
I don't need to. There are lots of herbs to do that at the natural food
store. I've read Cornett's other book, 7 Weeks to Safe Social Drinking:
How to Effectively Moderate Your Alcohol Intake, and she always covers
interesting things.
For me the vitamin and supplement part was the best. It talks about things
you can buy over the counter to cut craving. The Chinese and Ayurveda
medicine parts were really interesting too.
I realize this is only one take on problem drinking. But if you take these
suggestions in the book, along with her program in her other book to
improve your drinking habits you can cut craving and consumption without
prescription medicine.
Unique Book!Review Date: 2005-11-29
Homeopathic, Chinese and Ayurvedic and western herbs are covered - explaining how each of these systems views alcohol abuse, how it develops and the best ways to treat it. Another major theme of the book is balance. If one's life is a balance of physical, mental and spiritual components, the less need there is for alcohol. Truly a fascinating read and helpful to me personally.

laugh it all awayReview Date: 2006-05-31
Wonderful, hilarious and insightful ~~ a must read!Review Date: 2006-05-16
This book, which I read in one day over this past weekend, is just as wonderful as her other books. It made me laugh and roll my eyes (I don't have teenagers yet) and cry. The one chapter that made me cry the hardest is the letter from a mom whose son is a criminal. I had studied a little bit of criminals and their families in sociology in college, and that letter hit home. I love the letter from a teenager asking how did moms get their bionic and super powers. I love her insights on traveling and coming home. Let's face it, I just love Erma. She really is a woman who has her finger on the pulse of the nation's heart.
This is a wonderful must-read for all moms and their children. This is a book to read in different stages of your life too. I plan to read it again in several years when my two are tweens and again when they're teenagers. I am sure her insights will still help me grow through rocky patches. This is a timeless book. And one that I plan to share with the new moms in my life.

the wonderful, hilarious and insightful Erma Bombeck.....Review Date: 2006-02-20
Bombeck leaves a wonderful legacy behind, with this, one of her most well-loved books. Other Bombeck books I would definitely reccomend include: The Grass is Greener Over the Septic Tank, Just Wait Till You Have Children of Your Own!, When You Begin to Look Like Your Passport It's Time To Go Home, and Family: The Ties That Bind (And Gag).
Required reading for Mothers Day and everydayReview Date: 2003-02-25
While reading this book, I heard two people quote from it. One was a radio food guru and the other was one of those heart-warming emails that someone I know decided to forward to everybody in their online address book. Read this book and you may find yourself quoting from it someday.
MOTHERHOOD & ERMA BOMBECK - This says it ALL!!Review Date: 1998-08-30
Erma Bombeck is as far as I'm concerned the best writer of this century!! I love ALL her books, but I especially love, MOTHERHOOD: The Second Oldest Profession", the best!
It is in my opinion HER VERY BEST WORK!! And should be considered a classic!!
This book will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you think, and above all else it will make you take a second look at your life...and rejoice in it!
Erma Bombeck's book, "Motherhood: The Second Oldest Profession", is a MUST for all parents, guardians, and care-takers of children to read!!! It is not only heart-warming - it is about life itself.
Erma Bombeck had a very unique and talented knack of getting right to the heart of any matter - and making people see it in a whole new perspecitive...and to see it through the eyes of laughter and love...
Erma Bombeck - IS - the best writer of this century, and all her books [and especially this one] simply ARE the best stories and articles you will ever read! And all her work should be considered as classics...
VERY Sincerely - Kathyrn L.M. Reynolds

By Far, the BEST Bodybuilding BookReview Date: 2008-02-20
This book ALSO addresses fat loss WithOUT losing (and still GAINING) muscle while getting ripped...and it's NOT another Adkins/ketogenic diet!
This is one of the most researched and LOGICAL programs out there. The program is based on the Bulgarian Burst Strength Training system (Big Beyond Belief), but this book meticulously addresses diet, as the BBB book doesn't do it completely.
If you're a natural bodybuilder, this is the book for you.

Since it is by and for the U.S. Navy it is not trying to sell you the latest supplement or training video, so you might be left wondering what the catch is--there is no catch.
Large text, many tables of reference information, clearly written in a commonsense way make this indispensable for body builders or athletes, not just military personnel. I can't recommend this manual highly enough.

I ESPECIALLY recommend this book for military personnel who don't have the time in the field for the insane calculations found in other books, but who find it absolutely vital to stay in shape (their lives may depend on it!). Hopefully that was helpful and good luck in your searches for good health!

Clear and concise nutrition information for high perfomanceReview Date: 1999-08-10
Written in a workbook format, it provides tables and work-through examples to let you easily determine your own diatery needs. The book also covers the contents and nutritional value of the different military rations (MRE, LRRP etc.) and their usefullness for various missions and climatic conditions. A chapter on healthy eating in (fast food)restaurants and on eating for post-mission recovery adds to it's usefullness outside of field missions.
This is really a one-stop source for the military community. A very easy read and highly recommended!

Bathroom, rapido!Review Date: 2005-07-27
This picture book will be a marvelous addition to the bi-lingual classroom. Children who speak or read Spanish will be able to explain greetings, colors and familiar buildings to their English speaking classmates. English speaking children will learn some Spanish and empathy for their ESL friends. The watercolor pictures in the book feature the parents in the front seat and the small girl in the back seat. There are single and double-page spreads, pictures of the girl bordered in flowers and colors. The street scene with buildings labeled in Spanish paints their red car angularly, in the middle of the street, to indicate it does not know which way to go. The double paged line at the bathroom appears interminable with strollers, grandmothers, infants, teens and women of color and diversity. Cut ending!
