Exceptional, Very Useful "Do-It-Yourself" Book !!!! I found the book easy to follow and understand with organized projects, making video taking of family and vacations easier than it has been in the past. The book chapters are an easy read and made me want to expand my video project capability. The book is filled with easy step-by-step "key points" with photos to help along. Most of all, the book was extremely practical for the whole family, whether to shoot great vacation footage or a birth announcement. Some of the other great features of the book was how to stream video to your computer and my favorite was how to archive your videos, for long standing memories. Being that I love shooting video on vacation and of my family, this book is an amazing and well put together, asset to the CNET Do-It-Yourself books. Easy for amateurs and professionals, as well !!

I was lucky enough to have Ms. Gieri as my Italian cinema teacher last year at the University of Toronto and have her book as one of the classes' texts. This book covers so much ground yet manages to remain focused and insightful. Gieri is truly passionate about her work and research and it shows.

This is a great "how to" book for people involved in the production side of the film/TV industry. Ms Rowlands explains the job of continuity and script supervision very well, and a person who studies her book can perform the basics of the job without having gone to a class. I've done a bit of the most basic script supervision on short films and I review her book every time I find myself taking those very important notes. The notes the script supervision takes helps speed along the director and editor's job in post production.

If you would enjoy reading candid interviews with some of the greatest directors the world has known -- Capra, Wilder, Fellini, to name a few -- then you must buy this book. Gathered together from over thirty years of the life of the Literature/Film Quarterly, most of these pieces are available for the first time to the general readership, providing a wealth of new, fascinating insights into the minds of these cinematic icons. I loved the book.

As an adult I love the cramp twins series on tv, this is the first book I bought about them and it's just as fun as the show. Wendy and Tony are your hosts and they make things so much more enjoyable seeing things through their eyes.
I highly recommend the book if you like the Cramp Twins.
(btw, Lucien is one of my favourite fictional characters!)

This impressive volume features images from Matthew Barney's 1995 video work Cremaster 1. In this installment of the five part Cremaster series Barney turns a Boise, Idaho football stadium, with gorgeous blue astro-turf, into a surreal performance space featuring elaborately choreographed Chorus girls and a pair of Good Year blimps. These lush video stills seem taken from a dream. They at once seem impossibly foreign and oddly familiar. They are presented in an attractively bound book which is sure to be one of the essential documents of 1990s art.

(Please excuse my bad English: I'm a normally French Writer) As Historian writing a thesis about the Historical meaning of several peoples in the all World, I was very excited by the reading of interviews and documents concerning so much essential filmmakers from US, from EUROPE, from Asia, etc... It's very important for a searcher on movies historical interpretation to find so powerfull texts about directors and other filmmakers - out of the Studio era and influence. I will write more after having read the entire book I received by mail just today. But I confirm just now it's a capital contribution for my future University Thesis. I'm shure You will find here a basical documents anthology. Please tell me what You will think about. Claude-René DE WINTER Belgian Historian

Cieszynski, begins by examining the peculiar behavior of high-frequency signals when they are passed along various types of cables. In addition, the author looks at the aspects of light and lighting that appertain to CCTV system design and operation. The author then looks at the principle of operation of optical lenses before moving on to discuss the lenses employed in the CCTV industry. Next, he discusses the makeup of the television picture and the signals required to produce the picture. Then, he covers how the camera converts light energy into electronic signals relating to the luma and chroma content. The author continues by looking at methods of converting electronic signals back into light energy, creating the illusion of moving colored pictures. In addition, he examines the principles of video recording, concentrating on disk-based recording. The author also looks at ways of communicating information to the various cameras in the system.
Finally, he deals with those components in a CCTV system which, although at times may appear mundane, nevertheless play an essential role.
This most excellent book includes much new material on subjects such as the most recent video compression techniques, flat panel display technologies and structured cable principles. Perhaps more importantly, this book will help engineers grasp the principles of modern networks and therefore will help them have a better understanding of how to specify, set up and troubleshoot network CCTV systems!
