If you like puzzles, you will love this book! Just when you think you have a pattern solved, there is another possible solution! It exercises my brain! LOVE IT!

Starts out challenging, becomes 22 times more so!

The book trains your brain to think logically. The same puzzles appear to show up in each chapter, but there is a new twist every time. And logic you've learned to apply to one type of puzzle can suddenly solve something completely different. You are encouraged not to look at the solutions when you are stuck, but rather to return to that puzzle later and look at it from a different point of view. Can you follow that rule? Sometimes I just have to peek at the answer!
These puzzles are fun, and some are truly amazing!

What is ... quizzical

This book has plenty of quizzes which I call quizzicals and tests, which I call ... tests. It is like the TV show, only without that annoying host. Thumbs up from me, eh.

Great Fun

This quiz book has a total of 12 complete Jeopardy games, complete with Final Jeopardy questions. As in the television show, topics are all over the board (pun intended), including things like "John Cusack Movies," "Crustaceans," "Boo!" (in which each answer contains the letters b-o-o). Each topic has five answers with space to write the question, and the correct question is on the back of the page, so there's no having to flip back to an index or anything like that.

While there may be better ways to prepare yourself for Jeopardy competition (reading reference books and atlases comes to mind), this is a wonderful entertainment and a great way to pass time while on the phone, in the doctor's office, or just before bed.

For the avid, or even the average, sports fan, this book is a must. It's not for the statistic-driven techie; it puts sports in the context in which it belongs: as a very important part of the total American experience. I found it more fun than watching most Super Bowls. In short, I recommend it whole-heartedly

This wild and wacky paperback book is chocked full of the wildest stories about all sorts of sports we have ever read. We like to use Charles Reichblum's other book, Knowledge In A Nutshell, for all types of trivia, this Nutshell is specifcally for we sports nuts!

Almost 200 pages of laugh out loud stories and the true facts behind them. Some are almost unbeliveable. But, we defer to "Dr. Knowledge", the author, who has collected and researched these outlandish sports anecdotes for over 50 years now. We enjoy his straight forward writing style and sense of whimsy.

Read about when Harry Karry actually played baseball at Wrigley! Or, about the pseudo-football team some bored stock brokers made up in 1941 and called in their every game winning scores to the press. One of our favs, which Amazon mentions is how Gaylord Perry hit his 1st major league homerun on the same day the 1st man walked on the moon! And that manager Alvin Dark had predicted it 7 years earlier by referring to Perry's lack of power during batting practice by saying, "A man will walk on the moon before Perry hits a home run in the big leagues." Do you know how did the "hatrick" came into play during a Stanley Cup playoff game? Who hit 3 homeruns into 3 states in the same game? What did Gary Player do to Tony Lema at Pebblecreek on the 18th green? Hoaxes, jokes, unreal oddities, this book has it all.

A great gift to yourself or anyone into sports with a sense of humor and wanting to know more than just the stats. Ya could win yourself some bucks at a Sports Pub!

As an American journalist who has worked in Australia and the author of travel, language, and history books about Australia, I find this gem to be a wonderful resource. It has been updated several times, with my most recent copy dated 1995, purchased in Australia. Margaret Nicholson has filled a niche with a well-designed, easy-to-use concise guide to everything Australian. It is helpful for reasearchers, travelers, and ex-pats trying to keep up with info from home. Much easier to read than an almanac. Bright and cheery enough for school kids to find helpful as well. I hope Ms. Nicholson is planning another update prior to 2000.

No need many words! The book is simply fantastic! I love the shape, the size and I'm very surprise with the informations' quantity. Thanks to the citation to our homepage in the book and for the joke saying "Don't worry - it's in English:..." However I must to say that you make a mistake with our url to Lost In Space Brazil. It's not so important now. Really is that the book is so good that I buied another to give to my brother. Sucess and Best Wishes to the authors.

This is probably the best LIS book ever put together (not saying much since there is a lot of junk out there. The trivia questions and background tidbits are fascinating. Written by fans, for fans. Photos are so-so. But if, like me, you can recite whole sections of dialoge from the show by heart, and you love all aspects of the show--the sci fi, the comedy, the bloopers, everything, this is the must-buy book. Buy the bigger, more expensive one, it just looks cooler. : >

Impressive, enjoyable, and educational, Dingle's fine book sits front and center on my crowded reference bookshelf. The quotations are arranged alphabetically, by author, so browsing provides insight into the authors quoted, more so than do quotation books that are organized by theme. I heartily recommend this superb reference and enjoyable read. Also recommended: Memorable Quotations: American Women Writers of the Past.

One of the best rock trivia books I have ever read!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-03
Boy, was this book a great find! I was very pleased with this new book from former Monkee Micky Dolenz. After flipping through just the first few pages, I was delighted to discover the range of questions and the interesting answers included. Micky has done a great job of capturing everything about rock music that has made it so much fun over the years.

The game layout in the book is both useful and clever. It allows the reader to only see any given question at one time while each successive answer is on the following page. There's a "How to Play the Games" section in the front of the book that explains game format very well - once I was done reading it, playing the games was a snap.

There's also more in this book besides trivia questions. Micky tells classic stories about meeting The Beatles and gives a poignant remembrance of his friend, singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson, that alone is worth the price of the book.

As a big-time Monkees fan, I was pleasantly surprised to find this book in the 40th Anniversary year of The Monkees. Micky's still one of the greatest, and this is probably one of the best rock trivia books I've ever read. If you like rock 'n roll trivia, you will be SO happy that you bought this book!

I recently acquired a copy of Monkee Micky's Rock and Rollin' trivia book. When I picked it up, I figured it'd be mostly about the Monkees and such, but no.... Micky's done his homework and is putting us through our pop culture paces over a period of four decades. I own 1000+ CDs and I did NOT know that Paul McCartney is the guy saying "Quite rightly" during Donovan's Mellow Yellow. :) This book is a blast, and will often send you scurrying back to your CD player, if not your old turntable, to check it all out.

I highly recommend it to my fellow baby boomers, as well as to our offspring who find earlier rock and roll music to be history of interest.

One for Snowy Days
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2000-10-06
I enjoy Minnesota Trivia and am glad I bought it. It's not one of those parody books that poke fun at Minnesotans, but rather a bushel basket full of facts about Minnesota life. The six chapters are Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts and Literature, Sports and Leisure, and Science and Nature. My kids and their kids take it off the shelf to see if I can answer the questions (1,296 of them) about Kettle Falls, Prince, Red River ox carts, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Bronko Nagurski, or Sister Elizabeth Kenny. I'm glad it's on my shelf for snowy days. As a matter of fact, I have two, one for my own notes and one for the kids to use to ask the questions.
