Kenneth Varga's Ulwin: How To Be, Do And Have Anything In Life You Want And How To Get It addresses the contemporary crisis affecting and afflicting all too many boys and young men today. Cultural disorganization, social unrest, flawed parenting, easy access to addictive substances, violence in popular entertainments, and a sense of isolation all contribute to the phenomena of gangs, drive-by shootings, and kids killing kids. A highly recommended addition to school, community center, and public library collections, Ulwin offers such youth an effective and practical guide laid out in clear twelve lessons for overcoming everything from dysfunctional families and schools to peer pressure and poverty -- in short, how to be anything, do anything, or have anything in life that they truly desire.

Finally there is a well-tested method for investing in commodity futures with reduced risk, based on the logic of fundamental factors rather than the fancy footwork of technical predictions. This book is well-written and clear, and brings us the straight-forward trading system successfully developed by Robert Weist in the 1970's.

i recommend this book highly to anyone who has an interest in vampires. not only does it contain stories from classic gothic styling to present, the side bars provide very interesting information about vampires in general and the background of the stories and authors. this is like getting a well resarched "the vampire book" and a compilation of the greatest vampire stories ever written. aslo contains complete listing of vampire literature and cinema with author, year of publish or cinematic release. get this book. for the size and quality of the contents, the under $30 pricetag is well worth it.

This author is intelligent and provocative! Based on ancient text as well as geological and historical evidence, he skillfully and convincingly reveals the location of Eden and shows you how to find it my name on a map! He covers such eternally important subjects as how the continents split from one central land mass called "Pangaea" ... creation ... Noah's flood ... the race of giants ... Atlantis/Plato ... the Pillars of Hercules ... Poseidon's Temple Island ... how the speed of light is slowing down resulting in an increasing rate of radioactive decay causing 6,000 million years of nuclear decay to have occurred within the limits of some 8,000 years of orbital transits of the Earth around the Sun ... catastrophic shifts of the earth's axis ... gravitic, electric, & magnetic phenomena behind UFO travel ... after death ... out of body experiences ... UFO's & the "Majestic Twelve" & "Majority Twelve" documents ... earth & sun changes ... pyramids ... Biblical prophecy ... Babylon ... The Cosmic Conspiracy ... the New Nimrod ... the 7 churches of God ... and yes, all from a man who loves God and considers the Messiah the light of the world! Highly recommended!

Oyama was a heroic figure and arguably one of the lesser-known legends of 20th century martial arts. He personifies the classic style of Japanese karate that is hard to see in books or film today. I bought this book with my allowance money and it still maintains a prominent place on my bookshelf more than thirty years later. The photographs are excellent and convey the explosive strength of his style; he stopped many charging bulls with his bare hands. It is a slim book, but stands the test of time and my children love looking at it. If you seek to understand what karate is about, you will find Vital Karate indispensible. ...

Wide Ruins: Memories from a Navajo Trading Post
Published in Paperback by University of New Mexico Press (1997-09-01)
Author: Sallie Wagner

BEST book on Navajo Traders
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-15
"Wide Ruins" is a wonderful reading experience on an interesting topic. Sallie Wagner weaves a personal tale of her experiences as the trader at Wide Ruins, Arizona, in the 1940's. Her story progresses quickly and she seems to provide enough detail of her experiences without lingering too long on any one topic. She vividly describes the role of the trading post and of the traders. The trading post was a general store, a pawn shop, and a safety deposit box. The traders were resourceful businessmen who could conduct business without any actual money trading hands. They were esteemed residents who helped the Navajo people survive a difficult time in America's history.

This memoir is a significant piece of literature because it was written by one who actually lived in a world that few non-Navajos ever get to see. She decribes the Navajo people and the Navajo culture in a way that makes their time and place real. It is not an academic study by a distant scholar of the culture. It is a personal account of a world that no longer exists, and as such, it is a treasure. I would also recommend "Navajo Trader" by Cladwell Richardson in addition to "Wide Ruins".
