I bought this for a Plants unit for my homeschooled children (K and 2nd). It really worked well for us, bringing interesting experiments, high-interest information, and easy-to-follow directions (a must for the busy homeschooling mom!) The children get to see first-hand what the inside of a seed looks like, the parts of plants, and many other things.
I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of turning this book into a science unit for our homeschool as well as the interesting activities within. Too many "made-for-school" lesson plans seem to be watered down, boring, or difficult to pull of in your kitchen or living room with multi-aged children. This one, however, meets with my approval, and I am looking forward to using other books in this series.

This is a must-have poetry book for teachers. There are poems for holidays and special occasions, and even thematic poetry. Maria Fleming has done a great job of adding activities for each poem. The layout is great-- ready to read or make a transperancy for a class read along.

Each of the 35 sheets in this book begins with a non-fiction paragraph and then is followed by comprehesion questions based on either facts and opinion or the point of view in that paragraph.

Stay within the recommended age group: 4-8th, but is effective for students in high school needing the remdial help. For special populations, limit to those who are capable of doing 4th-8th grade level work, but most students can find themselves actually doing the work with minimal help.

I am amazed to find this listed on Amazon.com!! This is my Master's "professional paper" of approximately 237 pages+ on the excessing of the property belonging to the Sand Point Naval Air Station in Lake Washington, Seattle. As a graduate student at UW's College of Forest Resources, I interviewed many of the players who all desired this promontory extending into this prominent urban lake, and it was an interesting process in 1973-74. All had valid reasons for needing this landscape, and were in great contention for the federally released property. I presented each of their views fairly, and they all commented I had represented their cases well. After successfully obtaining my Master's degree, I went back to the various offices, and Xeroxed the bulky document for their keeping. It remains in an unbound condition. I do appreciate its continued existence, and also the eventual condition of Sand Point for all to enjoy in its present form. What an ecological contest to cover!!

This is a wonderful unit that helps young minds understand just where popcorn comes from. It teaches them through math, writing, science, and reading. I love this unit. I use it every year in my classroom and we end the unit with a popcorn party.

I knew that this little book was an overview. I purchased it for my kids to help with their Boy Scout 'Radio' merit badge. They have read it at least 3 times each. They were very happy with the book and the information was easy for them (4th and 6th grade) to understand. I even understood all the parts since I am just learning about the subject.

With this, they are starting up a very very low power station for broadcasting. All, without any help from the "Grumps".

It also provided resources and links which helped out more.

If your expecting the everything in one inexpensive book, this is not it. It is a very good beginner book.

Excellent book for control engineers, post grade students,power engineers or any professional related with the ElectricityControl Centers. The Book began with an explanation of why need to control the electric power systems. Then describe the power control systems elements, which give to the reader tools for his development in the field and tools for the Control Center design as well. Finally, some real examples for some Control Centers are treated. The book is already used by the post grade courses in the Industrial Control System Department of the Royal Technology Institute (KTH) Sweden.

Dr. Tleis adopts a refreshing approach in this much-needed reference book. The subject matter is very clearly and logically presented, and the treatment is laudably comprehensive, with no stone left unturned in his analysis. A large number of helpful explanatory diagrams are also included within the text and many practical solved examples, and a full list of references and suggestions for further reading provided at the end of each chapter. In short, this extremely thoroughly-written book will doubtless become a standard text of enduring use to both academics and industry practitioners. At this price (particularly for a hardback edition) the book represents very good value for money, and as such will be readily accessible to students, academics and practising engineers alike.
