My 5 year old brought this book home from his school's library and we've read it every day. He and his 3 year old brother love dinosaurs and even I learned a lot about the prehistoric creatures.
It's time to give the book back to the library so we're buying one for ourselves to keep.

Solid wood (SW) is important to the const'n., mfg., & shipping segments of the U.S. economy. In 1998, 19.6 billion cubic feet, roundwood equivalent, of all timber products were consumed in the U.S. About 87 percent of this was for industrial products, & 13 percent for fuelwood. SW products & pulpwood products each account for about half of the industrial roundwood consumed. This report examines SW timber products consumption in the U.S. over the past 40-45 years, relates changes in consumption to economic, social, & institutional factors during the period, & presents estimates of consumption in major end-use markets. Trends in timber products production, foreign trade, & domestic consumption over the past half century also are examined. Illus

"Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies" demystifies the Chinese Five Element Theory and other Eastern energy medicine basics in a readable format. As a practitioner of one of the Oriental modalities, I'm finding my understanding and teaching enhanced, as I enjoy Leon Hammer's expressive style.

My children love these books. The art lessons are very simple. I wish I could send you a copy the horse my 6 year old son drew. I've never drawn a horse so well! This from my son who cries " I don't know how to draw, mom!" You won't be sorry you bought this book. The format is very clear and simple and It shows how good penmanship is an art form. Pages are not cluttered. Extra Ideas spark a young artists creativity. These books are great for reference "Now how did I draw that boat?" Worth every dime.

Anyone who has ever picked up this series knows how great it is for kids! My son was so proud of himself last week when he was able to learn how to draw an elephant for the first time!! He didn't think the rest of the family would believe he had been the artist of the picture now hanging on our fridge. Of course the handwriting review is great, but I use these books as my art curriculum. I appreciate the way they break drawing down into steps (lines and curves) that make sense.
I love these books, and all three of my kids have loved them too. Enjoy!

A 'must' for any collection

The Cold War and subsequent years saw governments staking claims in the Arctic through the establishment of isolated 'drift stations' on ice floes, which conducted key scientific research. While such stations were military in nature, they've evolved to become key outposts of scientific research, offering up studies in meteorology, oceanography, and other disciplines with results moving beyond the political and military interests of the superpowers and the Arctic nations. DRIFT STATION details history from early explorers to modern times and is a 'must' for any collection strong in either military or scientific history.

Robb's passion for teaching shines in this book as she describes her teaching adventures. As found on page 66 of the book, Robb writes, as a student connects to the lesson, "Wow! I thought to myself and mentally waltzed around the room. Yes, these students got it!" This inspirational writing generates excitement for all teachers and creates the desire to go into the classroom and try it out for themselves so they too may "waltz" through their classrooms engaging each and every one of their students!
