I purchased this book as a gift for a friend. He absolutely loved it. He called me to say he had actually been to a couple of the "stops" listed in the book. I just briefly thumbed thru it, before wrapping it, and it had great pictures and was not to wordy. Just enough information to keep you interested without becoming bored and laying the book down. Would recommend this book to any one interested in the Pony Express!

I met the author. He knows what he is talking about! We need more of this stuff. He should be teaching.

The book teaches you to design a test process for power supplies without direct labor for diagnostic purposes. I found this book invaluable because it enabled me to drastically reduce the costs of the products we build. There really isn't any other book like it available on the market

This book is truly a classic in the power engineering field. I consider this book good for the following reasons:

a) The book covers the "bread and butter" issues that every power systems engineer would need. An outstanding example of this is the fact that the book covers protective relaying.

b)The book uses straightforward examples.

I consider this book on par with Stevenson's Power Systems Analysis book in that it is not cluttered with mathematical manipulation.

While no one can argue that computers play a bigger role in power systems computation today than they did even 10 years ago, many of the other books on my book shelf collect dust because Gross's book takes the time to go into why we are doing calculations and what they mean. It is relatively unimportant how you make calculations than what they mean and how to use them.

I have heard Dr. Charlie Gross lecture in continuing education courses at Auburn and I can attest to his skill in explaining things to students.

Nobody's reviewed this yet? What's going on here? I've had this for many years, and I probably learned most of what I know about power systems from it. If you've tried many highly technical books, you'll REALLY understand when I say that it's just a plain, old, decent book -- does what it's supposed to do without any of it botched. He covers both equipment and connections and, e.g., positive/negative/zero sequence analytical stuff. If you're not eating beans and rice 3 times a day due to low income, this is an investment for you! By the way, Gross has long been the Square D Professor at Auburn U.

This book contains a very detailed theory and analysis of the power system grounding. The approaches presented for transmission and distribution grounding are very useful. I strongly recommand this book for all power system engineers.

This book is one of the most authoritative treatises on electrical grounding. The presentation of Carson's formulas are excellent. The student will come away with a full appreciation of models of electrical grounds at any frequency. It is a must for a power systems library.

To my opinion gives this book a clear and understandable overview of variable drives and emphasises the things which are important. After red this book one get not only a good overview of variable drives, but also one is able to give the drives the wright place belong other drive issues

I am a mines and SCR rig electrician. I have actually attended Malcolms seminar related to the subject matter and, in fact, i have 3 copies of the book; that's how often i use it.
The information will open up the modern world of AC drives for the novice. For those applying the technology in the field such as, in mines, i thoroughly recommend it.
There are useful appendices in areas that compliment the knowledge required in heavy industry (the Gray scale in rotary encoders) areas of expertise that we must know and i can assure you that i have not been able to find that information anywhere else, or so tactfully presented.
I have assisted electrical engineers to understand the subject through the knowledge that this manual provides the technician.
Malcolm is definitely "the man" and his book is an absolute essential item - the bible - for heavy industrial electricians.

Sit and congitate on where you might be if you werent sitting where you were. There are some great and not so great inspirational places to expurge your toxins.

while the majority of the WC shown here were created with a substantial budget, Public Toilet Design demonstrates a wide variety of styles and settings that can be inspiring (if you can imagine a public toilet being inspiring) for anyone in the design profession.

This beautifully illustrated book is a fantastic introduction to the history of Qi Gong, understanding different types of Qi Gong, benefits of Qi Gong, and how it fits into Traditional Chinese Medicine. It serves as great background, but this thin volume provides only minimal information on how to practice Qi Gong. If you're interested in more in-depth, practical information, I can recommend: Qigong Empowerment (Liang & Wu) which has a wealth of Qigong exercises including for specific conditions, and The Way of Qigong (Cohen), which provides quite a bit of background as well as a number of exercises. Qigong is awesome -- give it a try!

Master Tzu Kuo Shih has put together a very good book for anyone who is new to qi gong. The book does not demonstrate any physical techniques, rather it lays the foundation for why qi gong works the way it does. This book is a must for any one who is interested in the origins of qigong in regards to traditional chinese medicine. Book is more TCM based than martial art based.

Nice book. A good way to introduce spring to your students if using this book for teaching purposes.

This is an excellent book to show children the excitement of the start of spring. The rabbit goes on a journey because he thinks someone is calling him, and then realizes what all the activity means...Spring. Children from 3-6 will love this book, and there are many extention activities teachers could do with this happy srpring book.

For the thousands of shortwave listeners and hams who were introduced to the wonder of radio - this is a book that will re-kindle the wonder. For collectors of vintage TV's, BC table radios and military radios, no other reference details these rare products.

Radios by Hallicrafters is logically divided into product prefixes. Most products have one or more pictures, with brief descriptions, production dates and orginal price. A useful index of market values is provided, as well as a history of the company and other Hallicrafters information.

Chuck's love for Hallicrafters products is evident, and his book is well dog-eared by serious Hallicrafters collectors.

My first shortwave receiver, as a 12 year old, was a Hallicafters S-38. I thought it was a really impressive looking radio then and have always loved the hallicrafters looks and the performance of their top end receivers. Chuck Dachis has clearly wrote the most complete reference for all the products made by Hallicrafters. As a collector and restorer of tube type radios the book has been an invaluable reference. The only down side is I found more models and accessories that I would like to add to my collection. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves old radios.

This is a beautiful rendition of the Musee d'Orsday. Not too difficult but does require some time and patience. The quality of detail, including that of the acetate windows and central arch, make for a great display piece.

I've made this and several other l'Instant Durable paper models. They're wonderful projects (if you like this sort of thing) and I've enjoyed having them on display hanging from my bedroom ceiling. I highly recommend!
