This has to be the best book ever for anyone who is shy either in or out of the bedroom. Don't think that this book is only for partnered people, there are plenty of exercises on being an exhibitionist for your own private fun. And believe me when I say that when you have showed off for yourself you won't be able to wait to show off to others.
This book also gave me greater appreciation for my own body. Flaws and all. Never does she say that you have to be this great beauty to be a show off.
So if you are a "good girl" like me with a "bad girl" fantasy this book is the key to unlocking it.

I have owned several copies of this book, specifically to GIVE to people who I feel would enjoy it.
No matter how shy or "vanilla" you are, you can certainly spice up your sex life, and probably your self-esteem, by heeding the simple for-beginners suggestions found inside.
Towards the end, the book does delve into some pretty "advanced" topics such as play parties and being a stripper. But there's much to learn here even if you don't want to take it that far. It's not about being all-out kinky and wild and crazy - although if you want to be, this book could be a great start.
But the focus here is really about finding your own personal comfort zones, determining your own fantasies, and feeling sexy YOUR way. No pressure here, just encouragement and support.

Don't pass this book up...

This is the BEST book I have read on Exhibitionism-if you're shy. This is a terrific book and Carol did a great job with it!! I was really impressed! It has changed how I think-I think my shyness was tied in with my closed-mindedness? Well give this book I try either way!! :)

Carol Queen is now a famous sex educator who describes herself as a recovering shy person. In 13 chapters and 3 appendices she helps us understand what holds us back from exploring and fully enjoying our sexuality and offers exercises we can use to move into a more fulfilling passionate life with ourselves and with others. This book will not teach you how to strip or how to seduce someone until you feel comfortable with yourself first. An excellent book that offered me some advice I have tried to put into practice in my own life. I'm getting a little less shy every day and it feels good.

"Coming of Age" for the Shy

This was my first read by Carol Queen, and I'll definitely be looking for more. Her down-to-earth attitude and very sincere, nonjudgmental, and open-minded approach to writing, sex, and a potentially touchy subject is very impressive.

She's covered nearly every aspect of shyness pertaining to self-image, sexual exploration, and body image; this book isn't just about dressing up and showing cleavage. And let's clarify that it's not just geared toward a female audience either. Queen talks directly, soothingly, to all those wishing to expand their sexual and self-confidence horizons.

I was only amazed to find how far along the spectrum I am myself coming from such shy and conservative beginnings. I was expecting practical steps and creative ideas for "coming out" on my own only to realize just how much of an exhibitionist I already am. And that also credits how Queen begins with exibitionism in private and for oneself, establishing a comfort zone for the individual where it should be begun.

I wish the book included more advanced exhibitionism techniques, or maybe more modern ones. Queen could've ventured into the realm of exhibitionism acted out online in all the various forms, how to begin, safe places for exercising your turn-ons, etc. Still, Queen covers the full spectrum of self-growth and comfort with exhibitionism so comprehensively that there are definitely creative ideas and issues addressed even for the more advanced. Enjoy!

I have worked in media for over 25 years and Jacquie even taught me things! She takes you from wanting to promote your idea to becoming a "guestpert" that television producers want to call back...over and over again. She gives you the lay of the land and who all the players are in the field...easily and simply. It's a great resource for those who want to be in the "biz" or need the "biz" to promote their product or services.

Works on Multiple Levels

Review Date: 2006-02-27
OK. I admit it. When I agreed to review "Get on TV" by Jacquie Jordan it was for my own selfish reasons. My new novel had just been released, and I was looking for a way to get on TV for added exposure. So naturally, I chose the book with the perfect title, and man am I glad I did.

In "Get on TV" veteran TV producer and insider Jacquie Jordan (who has worked with folks like Donny Osmond and Maury Povich) reveals valuable information on what it takes to get on television. The books gives detailed information on topics such as how to assemble a press kit, how to speak the language of TV producers and how to set realistic expectations on appearing on your favorite (and not so favorite) news and talk shows.

"Get on TV" works on multiple levels, mainly because the reader can feel the author's genuine authenticity when reading between the lines. It's not one of those books that was written solely to promote the author's business. In fact, Jordan even shares ways to circumvent the need to hire an agency like hers. You gotta love and respect that.

Though the book is packed with outstanding information, including a sample release form, contact information for all of the major networks and Jordan's insider info, some of the material (like definitions and learning the lingo) seemed to be overkill. But don't let this minor distraction fool you. Jacquie Jordan knows her stuff, and if you follow the advice in this book it wouldn't surprise me at all if I saw you on TV soon after. Buy this book and follow the advice given and I know I'll see you on the small screen.

Cherie Bennett is my favorite author and I am going to read other books by her as well. I highly recommend this book. Especially for teenagers because I really think that people could relate to it. I also recommend other books by Cherie Bennett.

I really liked this book. It has a lot of adventure in it and the ending is certainly surprising! (I thought Lisha loved Sky, not Alan!) I think that what Lisha did, ignoring Harley, was very stupid, although it came out okay, so I guess what she did was okay. This was very well-written with lots of suspense. I reccommend it to everyone

this book rocked. anyone who can read should read this series. the next 3 books are #4 Dirty Big Secrets from Nicks point of view about Chealsea and Jazz and stuff, #5 The Evil Twin about Karma and her twin and #6 Truth or Scare where Lisha has to choose between 2 guys, supposedly the most romantic book of trash yet. I'm not sure if you can buy them yet though and i cant wait!

Karel is a very entertaining host and I respect the fact he says what he thinks-- which too many people today haven't the guts to do. Nevertheless, I have at least one caveat-- if you have any training in economics, cover your ears when he starts going off on such issues. Here he is quite clueless, simply follows the typical liberal line and displays a fundamental ignorance of the basic principles of the subject.

Karel has a lot to say.

Laugh (out loud), cry, think, talk. This book says it all. It will make you laugh. Crisp dialog and quick wit on every page. This book will make you cry. Read about about Karel's bond with his mother. This book will make you think. Karel writes about everyday topics, news, and cultural happenings from a gay man's prespective. But don't think of it as a "gay" book or you'll miss the boat. Because you'll often find yourself in that "ah-ha" moment when you realize that you agree with his point of view; that it all makes sense. But most of all "You Can't Say That" will make you want to talk. To talk about society, fitting in, loving and leaving, life and death. So read it. Share it with your friends. Then get ready for the dialog to begin. Karel has a lot to say, indeed.

Great book from cover to cover. The author definitely has a unique but completely appealing sense of humor.

The characters and situations are well thought out. You don't have to be a golfer or have a political vein to enjoy this. It takes you on the improbable roller coaster ride of a prospective pro-golfer as he falls head first onto the American political scene. You'll never look at the (rat)race for the White House the same way again.

I couldn't put this one down. Absolutely a MUST READ!!!

Review Date: 2004-02-16
"My father was a mass murderer"--so begins another collaborative series between wife and husband team, Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld. The narrator is Chelsea Jenning, an 18-year-old Tennessean chosen for a summer intern job in New York City at Trash, one of the nation's sleaziest, hip new talk shows. Chelsea and two other female interns--Karma Kushner and Alyssa "Lisha" Bishop (an old best friend of Chelsea's from grade school)--are put in a great loft, just across the hall from three other great-looking guy interns: Nick Shaw (the guy Chelsea falls for, even though Jazz Stewart, the hostess of Trash, deems him her boy toy), Alan Van Kleef, and Sky Addison. (Note: Everybody in this book looks/sounds like some celebrity: Chelsea looks like Alicia Silverstone; Karma sounds like Fran Drescher; Lisha looks like Demi Moore; Sky looks like Keanu Reeves, etc.--hence nobody is ugly, which gives this book/series a rather superficial feel.)

Once on the job, Chelsea barely uses her brain or talent and has serious doubts about staying, especially when her past is threatened to be revealed on national TV: of her father going mental one day and shooting a restaurant full of people, then trying to kill her and her mother.

The title of this book/series does give a hint of what to expect, e.g., a hostess that almost bares it all on live TV, talk show topics like "Transvestite Teen Girls versus Real Teen Girls--who's sexier?" So, it's basically a tamer version of the Jerry Springer show for teens. The writing will appeal to young teens; it's humorous, light, and fluffy with some romance and drama thrown in for good measure. Certainly recommended to Cherie Bennett fans.

I was planning our vacation to Los Angeles when my husband suggested we attend a taping of a TV show. I didn't know where to start looking for information so I went to the main library and asked if they had any books on attending TV shows in LA. I was surprised when they showed me "Appearing on TV Shows for Fun, Fame & Fortune" by Lee Ellis. It is a terrific resource. It lists over two hundred shows to be in the audience or as a contestant. We choose to the game show "The Price is Right." The book gives the ticket info and the way contestants are choosen. We got our tickets by e-mail and we were off to LA. When we got to the studio everything went smoothly and we were interviewed to be contestants. But,our luck was not to be, we did not hear our names announced to "come on down" as contestants. Even though we didn't get to be contestants it was a great experience. If any of you want to be on a game show or any TV taping, I sugguest you get this book. It helped me alot.

Lee Ellis' Appearing On Tv Shows For Fun, Fame & Fortune: A Guide For Audiences, Contestants & Guests is a very practical guide to entering game shows such as Family Feud and The Price is Right; talk shows such as The Jerry Springer Show or Politically Incorrect; PBS shows such as The Antiques Roadshow; Court TV such as Judge Judy or Reality TV Shows such as Big Brother and Survivor; or being in the audience of popular sitcoms such as Titus and King of Queens. Each of the many individual shows presented has about a two-page writeup, with ticket information, studio information, and clear instructions for becoming part of the show. Highly recommended for anyone with a serious interest in joining a television show audience, especially if the purpose is becoming a contestant!

Talk Radio Continues to Kill

Shauna J. Bogart is running just a little late for her afternoon talk show that day. She was stuck in traffic returning late from a semi-business lunch. Fortunately, her intern/producer Josh was able to stall the first caller so no one knows.

That first caller is a bit of a mystery. Refusing to give his real name, he makes comments about Shauna's past that only one other person knows. The trouble is, that one person is in jail.

The big news of the day comes in the final hour of Shauna's show, however. That's when the radio station's news reporter, Glory Lou, announces there's been a murder. The victim is Travis Ikeda-Nyland. Not only is he the son of one of the station's biggest sponsors, he was also Shauna's intern a year and a half ago. The police do have a suspect in the case, the young man who jumped off the American River Bridge after tying up traffic and is now in a coma.

The suspect's grandma can't believe her grandson did it, and comes to Shauna for help. Ironically enough, Travis' mom isn't buying it either, and promises the station there will be no loss of revenue if Shauna continues to investigate.

The trail soon leads to Travis' efforts to recover from alcohol. He's been through treatment twice. The police are convinced that the murder was a drug deal gone bad, but everyone who knows Travis says he was clean. Had he fallen off the wagon?

Meanwhile, Shauna is facing a career crisis as well. She's been offered a job as a DJ for an oldies network. The pay would be wonderful and boyfriend Pete doesn't seem to mind the move. Plus station owner T.R. O'Brien has sold the last half hour of Shauna's show three days a week to a psychic, frustrating Shauna and making the offer even more tempting. So why can't she tell her boss she's leaving?

Joyce Krieg continues to entertain in the third talk radio mystery. Her plots are always top notch, and this one is no exception. It twists several different directions before reaching the logical conclusion. Plus the clues usually don't make sense initially.

The secondary series characters take a bit of a back seat this go around and we really don't get to know them better although they are still quite likable and very well developed. Even if their appearances were smaller then I would have liked, they are still destinct people. Shauna herself has taken up flying this go around, a hobby I hope continues through to the next book.

The beginning seemed a bit rough with several short scenes and abrupt scene changes. Once the story gets going, the scenes become longer and the plot and sub-plots begin to weave together better.

This series has served up three entertaining mysteries in a row Here's hoping the ratings match the strong plots for a long series.

Crazed callers and wacky co-workers can make Talk Radio murder on a normal day! This time, talk show host Shauna J. Bogart launches her own unique investigation into a homicide, and is drawn into a disturbing new world of electronic surveillance and so-called security.

Julia Spencer-Fleming, one of my very favorite mystery authors, says Krieg's amped up plot and crystal-clear prose merit national syndication. I could not agree more. Do pick up a copy!

Joyce Krieg's Murder Off Mike won the Malice Domestic Contest for best first traditional mystery, and was nominated for an Agatha Award. And the series just keeps getting better!

Like A Confederacy of Dunces to which it alludes, this book contains much New Orleans local interest and detail. I enjoyed this book very much, and look forward to Steve Herman's next novel.

Sherlock H. meets Bourbon Str.: Murder, zest & romance
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-01-10
This slender little roman a clef has everything you want in a mystery: a lost treasure; a murder; a dead man with the answers; a mysterious beauty with a secret; and of course, the reluctant and often naive narrator who finds himself in too deep with this unsavory lot.

Fans of Sherlock Holmes will recognize this late 20th-century version of the all-but-forgotten Sign of Four. This time the setting is the heat and sweat of New Orleans circa 1995, and faithful Dr. Watson has become a lonely, over-articulate innocent who hosts a local talk show.

The novel, with its wisps of old-world romanticism, revolves around the beautiful and mysterious woman trying to reclaim bits of her past as well as her father's lost riches. There's a pegleg, an eccentric stone-cold dead behind his desk, a Howard Stern sympathy homily and even an angry dwarf (yes, Stern and an angry dwarf!).

The storyline is puncuated at odd times by the narrator's on-air rants about society, economic issues and other injustices. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. In contrast are the delightful forays into New Orleans everyday life. At one point, the narrator talks about a restaurant or cafe and remembers what it USED to be called. Forget Fodder's: You can use Sign of Four as your map through the city.
