Great Bible for any adventure!Review Date: 2007-07-19
If you are a mountaineer, Christian or otherwise, you know that if you get stuck in a snowstorm or take a day for acclimatization then a good book is nice to have to keep you occupied in your tent. For you climbers or backpackers that are extremely weight conscious, you can bring one volume and it only weighs 2 or 3 ounces, and you can jam it anywhere so it takes up virtually no space. I highly recommend the Outdoor Bible for any adventurer.
A waterproof trail map to God!Review Date: 2006-02-05
No matter if it's snowing, raining, sunny, foggy, or whatever the elements may be (it's all God created anyway), The Outdoor Bible allows me to take the entire NASB New Testament with me.
Great idea. It's so cool to see God work through people like Michael. If you know anyone that has a camp or an outdoor program, I would encourage you to incorporate this fun way to learn the Word into your programs.
Gratefully,
Rob Lohman, author of The Momentum Journey : Breakdown at Exit 63.
Unique and useful!Review Date: 2005-12-21
Being an outdoor-loving person, I can see many uses for this innovative Bible: picnicking, devotions on the trail, camping, church outings, family day at the park, home schooling safaris, Vacation Bible School, and beach and backyard Bible clubs. You can even drop this Bible out of the boat and retrieve it as good as new. Each book is printed on separate sheets making it handy for carrying just the Scripture you want to use for the particular occasion. This makes the individual sheets of The Outdoor Bible also useful indoors - at the office, on the bus, in the doctor's office, or for nursing home ministry. The type is fairly small so you'll want to carry a flashlight or lantern for dim light use. Being in the New American Standard version, the wording is understandable even to younger readers.
Unique and useful, The Outdoor Bible will be a welcome adjunct to many groups, including church and personal libraries, active Bible study groups, families, and church camps. It will also make a distinctive and appreciated gift. - Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com

Exactly what I needed!!!Review Date: 2005-01-17
I found a very good introduction in each chapter in the book. Each theoretical section is followed by examples that makes the subject more understandable.
I highly recommend this book.
Excellent, pioneer book!!!Review Date: 2004-09-17
I highly recommend this book for readers that are looking into understanding design and implementation issues, existing solutions, and also some of the open research topics. This is indeed the first book that explains network recovery in such detail and it will be very helpful whether you are researching the topic, teaching, or planning on deploying a solution.

The best networking book I ever readReview Date: 2008-02-11
Years ago I studied networks basics but I really didn't grasp the subject.
Now I read this book and I found clear explanations that led me to better understanding what's going on in LANs and WANs.
There are only two chapters that I found hard to follow, because they are heavily focused on the IEEE specifications (that sure are important but also very complex and full of confusing achronyms), but that apart, now I can say that my knowledge about LANs, NICs, MAC, LLC, Hub, Switches, Routers, ecc.. ecc.. is really clear.
It's well written and very useful if you works in IT fields or even if you are curious to understand the fundamentals of networking, that is a very complex subject.
Good StuffReview Date: 2007-05-14
Yes, it covers the fundamentals, but that's what it is for. I would recommend watching the interactive lessons, first. You get a quick dose of information, some of which you might already know. That will probably help speed up the browsing process.
For the intro level material, I'll probably still keep it on my bookshelf at work.
The Standard Text for the Cisco CourseReview Date: 2006-04-11
This is the first book in the series and begins with 'What's a Network.' From there it goes step by step to the last chapter which is on TCP/IP Transport and Application Layers. The book is written like a text, and when the course of study is finished it should be kept as a reference book. It also contains numerous questions as a way to check your understanding of the material and your readiness to pass the certification exam.
The CD-ROM that is included with the book contains additional information, interactive media that visually demonstrate key topics, and other learning tools.

Many of the Psalms are prayers that arose out author's own struggles. They are praises of worship to God, cries for deliverance from trouble, and petitions for forgiveness. There are Messianic Psalms that fortold of Christ and His sufferings. The stuggles of the authors of this book, most of the Psalms were written by David, are there for us to read. God called David, "A man after My own heart." Yet, God allows David's humanity to shine through giving us encouragement. God does not "sugarcoat" His heros. He does not just tell us of their mountaintop experiences. He also reveals their humanity. David is a model for us. We need to rely on God and trust Him, not just in good times but also in bad.
The Book of Proverbs is full of practical maxims for everyday life. The vast majority of them were written by Solomon, David's son. Heed this advice and you will do well. The Bible is not just great literature. It is God's Word.

Best New American Standard Bible SoftwareReview Date: 2007-05-14
Excellent Electronic Bible!Review Date: 2002-07-26
1. The Bible version itself: This one includes the new updated NASB version. If you've seen comparisons of the various Bible versions, the NASB was generally described as the most literal version (word-for-word accuracy) of the Bible that sometimes suffered in terms of readability for that very reason. I believe the reputation has been largely undeserved. But, with this version they have gone back over sentence structure, vocabulary, etc. with a view toward improving the readability and flow of the language. They have also removed archaic words like Thee and Thou. I believe they have succeeded in improving readability without compromising the accuracy of the translation. We now have a literal, word-for-word translation that reads with the best of the modern versions. (I initially liked the NIV, but eventually got to the point where I realized that without an accurate word-for-word translation close by, I would never really know what the Bible was saying.)
2. The addition of the full Amplified Bible. The previous version had only the Amplified NT. I would never consider the Amplified Bible as a primary Bible, but it's great for comparison study and bringing out nuances in the text.
3. The Libronix Digital Library System. This is the underlying technology used to view and work with the Bible texts and reference materials. It has a browser-like feel to it, so most people will be very comfortable with it in a short period of time. You can do things like hover over references embedded in the Bible text and get a pop-up window of the full text of the verse. A trip to the Hebrew-Greek dictionary from a word in the text is as simple as a right-click and menu selection.
There are many Bible study tools as well. My favorite is the Passage Guide. You simply select it from wherever you are in the Bible text and it will generate a page of everything related to this passage from all the reference works available. You can then follow hyper-links to all the resources. What a time-saver for Bible study! Also, simple things like being able to view passages in a variety of versions are wonderful as well.
I am very enthusiastic about this electronic Bible version. Highly recommended!
New Bible Software is Best in Class - Fond Farewell to DOSReview Date: 2003-04-21
Since then I have owned a number of PC Bibles. So far, the NAS Electronic Bible Library 2.0 is the "best in class". It does utilize the 1995 update to the NAS, my personal favorite. What makes the NAS EBL 2.0 the best in class in my opinion?
1) Software-based Reference Features - the software itself has the point and click functions one expects from professional grade software: click to copy, hover to read hidden text, click on note icons to read commentary, click on reference icons to read reference passages, click to see Greek and Hebrew definitions of the precise word selected, and so on.
2) Advanced Search Functions - Ability to see verse fragments in a scrollable list, ability to find search text in the Bible or any other reference materials included in the package, full featured Boolean operators. In fact, the search function is so "intelligent" that just typing in a single word (e.g. satisfy) will cause the package to search for that word and all English variants (satisfaction, satisfied, satisfies).
3) Multiple Texts Included - the package contains the NAS along with the Amplified, the KJV, the ASV, Hebrew and Greek dictionaries, Easton's Bible Dictionary, Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary, along with some assorted histories.
Of course there are some weaknesses in the package. The package tends to load and run slow on my machine (Windows 98, Pentium 2, 128meg RAM). Search functions do take some perceptible time to conclude. Searches resulting in hundreds or thousands of verses can take minutes to complete.
Finally, the feature-packed software is frankly difficult to navigate. The multiple screens/windows that pop up for every activated feature can take some time and patience to learn and to manage. However, as the expression goes, "no pain - no gain". Without the features, this would be just another Bible search program.
For any serious student of the Bible, especially of the NAS, this is a full-featured professional software package; an excellent aid for in-depth Bible study. The package is even expandable, additional versions of the Bible (beyond those included in the package) can be purchased and loaded onto the same user interface engine.
As much as I hate to leave my DOS-Bible behind, this is clearly the future of electronic Bible study. In this case, progress is good.

A "Must Have" Addition to Any Network Analysis LibraryReview Date: 2000-09-13
I've had the book only three days, and have already used it to solve a couple of network analysis problems. The content is most useful.
The book is well thought out, and well organized. I particularly appreciate the packet by packet explanations and real world troubleshooting examples. The extensive appendixes are a wonderful addition.
If you could only buy one book for TCP/IP network analysis, I'd get this one.
Excellent bookReview Date: 2000-08-22
First, forget any thoughts about a Novell/Netware focus, this is a book about TCP/IP, and it includes some chapters about Microsoft's and Novell's implementations of TCP/IP. Excellent.
The book does an outstanding job of covering the subject at the intermediate to advanced level. It is not for newbies, and it is not for geeks. IMO, "serious" students/end users/LAN administrators will find it very useful.

What its about, in the authors words...Review Date: 2007-03-04
"Why is it so hard to comprehend, when it is so simple? You cannot expect a flow of oil or increase of meal until you begin to use; you cannot pour water from a pitcher until you take the pitcher in hand and begin to pour. Herein is one of the mighty occult truths I promised to give when you had complied with my terms. I do not need your money, but I do need your faith in me"

Christian Perfection and John WesleyReview Date: 2000-05-17
The essence of Christian Perfection, for Wesley, was clearly defined by Christ when an expert in the law asked him, "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "`You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 23.36-40 NRSV)
Here one sees that, for Wesley, the main point of Christian Perfection is "perfect love." "Perfect love" thus defines our relationship to God and others.
This book is essential for those in the Wesleyan tradition and a worthwhile read for those from other Christian perspectives that wish to understand what Wesley thinks Christian Perfection is and is not.
