A beautiful book full of the life and magic of faries. If you believe, you have to have this book and if you don't buy it so that you'll know what you are missing. This was a gift for our five year old who has spotted more than her fair share of faries, but I have spent just as much time reading it myself.

Ahhh the magical hours that pass outside looking for fairies!

My 5 year old daughter can't get enough of this book. She spends so much time looking for the fairies. She loves to smell the lavender in the garden...because that is who washes the flower fairy clothes. don't miss out on this book!! BUY IT! You won't be sorry. IT does so much for your child's imagination.

First of all, I am thrilled these books and drawings are still available. My sister and I recieved three of the books as gifts when were children and have fought over possession of them ever since. Thank goodness my sister managed to keep the three we had all these years (I am 35 now). I always thought they were just gorgeous little books someone had stumbled upon and we'd never be able to complete our set. I remember staring at the rich and vibrant colors and the charming little fairies for hours as a child. Upon a recent viewing of the books you could even see where I had dog-eared my favorite drawings and poems. I still can't effectively put into words what drew me so deeply to these books, but I can say that even as an adult, they hold every bit as much charm.
God bless the internet as I was able to finally track down the rest of the books. I am also thrilled that all the books are now available in one volume so that my sister and I no longer have to fight over rights to these precious volumes. I have even bought the remaining volumes for her children so that "our" collection will be complete and continue to mesmerize my niece and nephew as they did their mother and auntie sooooo many years ago!

I highly recommend this entire book of essays on the impact of Jesus Christ on day to day living. The language is clear and precise and understandable. It can become a lifetime companion for guidance.

This book is incredible! I have never encountered a book that both engaged my spiritual development and growth as I read it, and was academically this solid. Casey is an exceptional writer and I have hung on nearly every word. This is where the rubber of spirituality meets the road of human existence.

I was concerned when I saw the word "Christology" in the title of this book that it would focus on the theological, rather than having Michael Casey's usual pragmatic spirituality. There was no need for concern, this book is consistent with Casey's usual style. Being a monk seems to have sharpened his understanding of the human condition.

The book chapters are:

1. Divine humanity 2. The recalcitrant body 3. Jesus baptized in the Jordan 4. Ourselves and others 5. Jesus tempted 6. Contrary imaginations 7. Jesus exorcises 8. Detoxification 9. Jesus the sower 10. Trust in providence 11. Jesus stills a storm 12. A quiet mind 13. Jesus the learner 14. An open heart 15. Jesus moves around 16. Ambiguity 17. Jesus transfigured 18. Meta-experience 19. Jesus the prophet 20. Confession 21. Gethsemane 22. Crisis 23. Desolation 24. Nakedness 25. Eternity

From the back cover:

"In eloquent prose, Michael Casey offers a Marcan-based gospel exploration of the humanity and divinity of Jesus. Chapters on the dynamics of Jesus life on earth as portrayed in Mark alternate with chapters that turn our attention back to our own human condition. Thus, we grow in an understanding of our own humanity as the means by which we participate in the precious gift of divine life in and through Christ."

It is definitely worth reading.

This is destined to become a classic! The Gold Miner's Daughter, as you might note from the cover art, is set up as an old-time picture show or theater production that is cross between an old time blustery tall tale and the Dudley-Do-Right/Dastardly Bank Manager saga (sans Dudley of course, this tough little lady doesn't need any many to rescue her from the dastardly banker - yea that's right I said it...he's DASTARDLY)!! This plucky hybrid goes even further with the amusement and nostalgia in giving a nod to several of the "biggies" in fairy tale stardom (Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, Rumplestiltskin, Rapunzel, Jack and the Bean Stalk, and Sleeping Beauty).

We start out with the typical slick banker going to foreclose on Gracie and Pa's mine...but he'll give them till sundown or else he's taking the mine AND Gracie as his bride...and she wants absolutely nothing to do with that, so she sets out on a march through town to try to find someone who can help her find the gold they need before sunset. This story builds to a nice climax and while Gracie doesn't wind up tied up on the train tracks, you might be surprised who does! Will Gracie find the gold in time? Will she be forced to marry the dastardly banker? You'll have to read to find out...and I don' think you'll be disappointed!

This is quite fun for parents and children...it's got the charm of a tall tale (complete with amazing exaggeration)...this is especially apparent in the illustrations, they are magnificent; the drama of the Dudley-Do-Right saga; the charm of a fairy tale; and best of all...audience participation. Yep, that's right, this book comes with a sequence of 4 symbols that are cues for the listeners (for this could only work as a read-aloud with an audience) to chime in (my favorite is the banker's oily handlebar mustache - boo, hiss).

Simply put...this book is a storyteller's dream...your kids will love this!! A+

This book fits in with the 6th grade Ohio Social Studies curriculum, and every school library needs it. Not only are there a lot of projects that are quite easy to do (no supplies that would be hard to get, no special expertise needed) there is a lot of well-researched information about each of the projects. Vocabulary in listed, as well as little known facts. Useful and fun to read as well!

This book is a winner! I have 3 kids, ages 6, 10, and 12, and there's something in there for all of them. The projects are fun to do, and just the right level of difficulty. My kids have learned a lot about Egypt by building the projects as well as reading all of the intriguing information tucked into the book. I highly recommend this book!

As a home educator, I'm always looking for books that will draw my kids in. Great Ancient Egypt Projects You Can Build Yourself does just this. The main text is full of information that kids will find interesting, and peppered throughout are sidebars offering further detail. Best of all are the numerous activities. This book includes more than 25 hands-on activities, including creating a game of senet, building a shaduf, making kohl, blending perfume, and even transforming a garage sale chair into a throne. Very cool!

The Song of the Sea Trilogy is by far one of my most favourite stories. Harmony is the beginning to the trilogy and is a very powerful and moving story. This story is so detailed and emotional, you may well end up crying as you reach the end. The pictures are detailed nicely, and weave you into the world the story tells of. The fact that this is just the beginning makes you want to read the next chapter and its well worth the money for all three books.

I have searched for contless years to find such a book as this. I have never found another totake its place on my shelf. When I first took this book with me to school in 5th grade I could not put it down. When I first finished the trilogy I was hopeing to see a movie about it, however none has occured. I have take the time to reread it over and over again, this tale can never grow old. I am now in 10th grade and am once again reading these wonderful books suitable for both adults and children.

...I have been reading this with/to my grandson. He absolutely loves the intricacy and details shown and drawn... Frankly, I have NOT followed the "interactive formula" but just let him choose his favorite pages... EVERY time we read it together (usually just before bed)he and I find something we have not seen before. There is so much there that this is one of the rare books that has staying power over the years... I am fairly sure he will be looking a this when he is 18, and again when he has children of his own. It is magnificent! I will purchase anything this author chooses to draw in a similar vein.

Every time we walk into our neighborhood bookstore, my son runs over to find "Haunted Castle." I guess it started when the book originally caught my eye, and so I picked it up. I'm an artist, and the drawings are so detailed and intruiging that it drew me in immediately. To top it off, there's a game to be played throughout the book that both my son and I found extremely innovative. In it, Johnny and Jodie have to find their Uncle Barnaby, and so the journey takes you through the many twists, characters, and wonderful drawings where in the end you really don't know if you're going to actually find him. Because my son is not at the reading level the book displays, it's a great way to spend some quality time together without the TV on! I would reccomend "Haunted Castle" to you if you're one to appreciate tallented illustration, great ideas in writing, and enjoy sharing story time with your children.

Haunted Castle is a book that lets you choose your own path through a terrifying castle. Every time you read the book, the story changes because of the decicions you make. The richly detailed illustrations will keep you entertained for hours and every time you look at an illustration you notice something new. Some of the first rate drawings include a graveyard full of restless spirits, a mad scientist's laboratory, a sunken pirate ship, and a dungeon. Once you finaly find your way out of the castle, there is a surprise that explains the whole mystery!

This book is wonderful. My mother lives far away and my 22 month old daughter loves this book about Grand Mamoon (Grandma Moon). The other day my husband and I were walking together in the evening - date night - and we saw the face of Grand Mamoon! It was so obvious. I love that my daughter will always know that her Nannie is watching over her. Even long after she is gone... This book is a treasure. A MUST have!

I *love* this book. Not only is the story touching and heartwarming, but the illustrations capture the magic and imagination of inspired by the moon. The girl begins the book by being unable to see her grandmother in the moon, but by the end, she has a whole new way of looking at things because she remembered the stories her grandmother used to tell her about the way ancient people viewed the moon. By the end of the book, they are having a sort of rooftop full moon celebration, drums and didgeridoos and all! Fabulous story -- I want to see more from this author and illustrator.

Hello Grand Mamoon! is a charming chilrden's picturebook, about a young girl who is very sad about the death of her grandmother. Her grandmother taught her a special way of looking at the moon - a magical way that reveals a shining, loving face. When the young girl sees the moon and shares her experience, she still feels sad that her grandmother is gone, but she also feels joy because she knows she is always being watched over. The stylized, bold art of Tamara Guion bring the beauty of the night sky to life in this delightful storybook, perfect for bedtime. Photographs of the moon on the last page reveal how anyone can see the beaming face of Grand Mamoon.

Definitely the future of entertainment

Review Date: 2004-04-24
While I rigorously maintain my status as a rider on the leading wave of software technologies, I am way behind the curve when it comes to entertainment. Before I read this book, I had only a glancing understanding of the latest technologies in capturing and replaying television broadcasts and other interactive entertainment devices (IED). Even though the information is now dated, I found the book well worth reading.
Like everything else, the advance of technology in this area is amazing, it seems that the only thing that can slow it down is legal action. Each of the descriptions starts at the most elementary of levels, yet is thorough enough so that when I was finished, I understood the advantages and disadvantages of each enhancement. Kovsky is also very diligent in pointing out the costs and explaining some of the difficulties that can be encountered when setting up and interfacing the various types of IED's. Pointers to some of the best improvements that you can do to enhance your experience are also included.
If you are new to the arena of high technology entertainment, then this is an excellent place to begin your education. Be warned however, you will be tempted to purchase some of the equipment that is described.

This book was given to me as a gift. For someone who likes the latest gadgets but is too busy to keep up with all the product offerings, this is the perfect book. Written in clear english with a touch of personality, it is very informative and helpful. I would think that anyone who doesn't have time to shop the personal electronic stores full of people who have no idea of what they are trying to sell would love this book.

Everything you've always wanted to know about TV high tech tools and how to get the most out of your viewing experience is presented in this book. The straight forward, concise and to the point style leaves no room for misunderstanding. Kovsky, who has been a tech journalist for many years obviously knows what he's writing about and explains things like TiVo, game consoles, and video convergence devices with an insiders expertise. I found High-Tech Toys For Your TV very readable and extremely informative. It's a good read but an even better resource for all us TV hounds.

I bought this to help with ideas for my sons fifth birthday. It had lots of great crafts, decoration ideas, food, games, etc. It even came with a little paper hat, a paper gold earring, a paper eyepatch, and paper pieces for a game that was included in the back. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the food and the only thing I've made the kids was the Grog. The rest of the stuff was sugar filled junk that the kids would adore but would make the parents shudder. All in all, a great little book that I was proud to add to my library.
