Bill Henderson's book is a solid, comprehensive work of information for curing your cancer. It should give real hope, not false hope, to anyone diagnosed with cancer who doesn't know which way to turn for help, or whom to believe, trust or rely on. It is objective, exhaustively researched, and presented in a format that is not only reader friendly but imbues a feeling of confidence and optimism.

I must say that Bill has really done his research and has written a book that is a definite wealth of information for the cancer patient and family. This information will not be shared by your run of the mill oncologist! Bill's book will direct you to some of the finest websites that offer alternatives to cure your cancer. Also you will be able to locate Dr's who are willing to work with you when you choose not to go with the cut, burn and poison treatments if you have cancer. The book tells you about lifestyle changes, being healthy eating, exercise and what supplements to take to help cure your cancer. If you are looking for this kind of information and feel lost out there in cyberspace, then you need this VERY helpful guide book of Bills! Thank you Bill for helping so many people! Lynn Miller P.S. Bill also made this book very easy to understand.

This is a fantastic book! It is written extremely positive and will be a "Bible" throughout a cancer ordeal. It is a ray of hope and friend for the lost soul on a solo Cancer journey. It is very well organized and easy to read. It is up-to-date and has many online links that work on the web. It will provide a positive and structured environment to help you make intelligent decisions in healing yourself with or without a doctor's aid. This book taught me more about Cancer than a visit to the Oncologist only after 10 minutes of browsing it.

Cutting Edge!!!

OK, sorry for the pun, but it's true. Bill Henderson has found a way to provide the best researched PROVEN treatments and CURES for cancers of all shapes and sizes in an easy to read and understand format. While waiting for my doctors to schedule, execute and analyse a biopsy of my neck (prior tests have made them suspect some kind of lymphoma), I started doing some research of my own and stumbled across Bill's fabulous book. I immediately started upping my dosages of some of the supplements I was already taking, and added some others recommended by several of the doctors and scientists mentioned in the book. I also modified my diet somewhat. Within 3 days of starting, the seering and throbbing pain I was experiencing DISAPPEARED! The mass in my neck, what ever it is (still haven't got the results back from the biopsy) softened and shrunk by 20-30%. Within a week, I can now see the shape of my face again (mass now smaller by over 50%!!), and I feel like I am winning my fight already! I am still fine-tuning my protocol based on many of the recommendations in Bill's book, have several supplements on order through discount nutrient providers (all found in the book), and have been constantly reading new material through many of the links provided within the book. It may only seem like 200 pages or so, but with the links to other invaluable sites as well as the newsletter archives on Bill's website, you too can become an "expert" on cancer and alternative treatments in a very short time. And you can keep learning new proven techniques because Bill is contstantly researching and updating his site with the latest and greatest. This book could literally save your life or the life of someone you love. Even if no one you know has cancer, you can learn how to insure that you and your family never get it by reading this book and learning EXACTLY what causes cancer (turns out it's pretty simple!) and how you can make yourself virtually cancer-proof. I only wish I knew this information 3 years ago when my Dad was battling leukemia. Chemo did not save him. Read this book. You won't regret it.

Had I known then what I know now...

I wish I had known about this book much sooner. I began reading this after my dad was hospitalized on 4/10/07, I purchased the MGN-3, protocel and graviola mentioned in the book with the hopes of being able to administer it to him for the reccurence of cholangiocarcinoma, but he passed away in the hospital on 4/30/07. Even in my bereavement, I have pointed several people in the direction of this book because I know that's what my daddy would want me to do. My mom is a 13 year breast cancer survivor so she, my sister and I will still arm ourselves with the powerful information inside this book and share it with anyone who even mentions the word cancer. Chemotherapy and radiation are not the only options available! I only wish the medical doctors would have been more concerned with saving my father by trying the alternative therapies rather than being tied to helping the pharmaceutical companies make a profit with the help of the FDA. You will NOT be disappointed in this book.

The CWAP book covers concepts on wireless analysis for physical and MAC layers, IDS solutions, etc. This book should be referred to by all wireless professionals who want to troubleshoot any wireless problem or just understand the different frames being transmitted and received. Additionally this book helped me pass the CWAP exam :)

A must have for wireless professionals

A great reference book from Devin and his team at Planet3. Well written with many examples and diagrams; they make a tough subject easier to understand. Includes everything you wanted to know about those bits flying thru the air. Worked for over 3 years in the wireless security area - wished I had this book (and the others in the Certified Wireless series) early on.

Excellent and detailed book about the 802.11 technology

Regardless if you plan on taking the CWAP exam, if you're in the WLAN industry, you should at least have it in your bookshelf.
It goes over every field in the 802.11 packets, packet types, etc.
Now, if you're studying for the CWAP exam, you should read it twice and make sure you understand all that is explained in the book.
I used this book on my CWAP exam preparation, and I passed it.

I was in the beta CWAP class last year in Atlanta, enjoyed it - and found it to be very helpfull in understanding Wireless, down to the very roots it is built on. I never conduct anything to do with wireless - without this book by my side to refer to.

I have not come across anything related to wireless analysis that I needed to implement that was not discussed or referenced in this book.

The knowledge in this book should be added to your wireless toolkit, even if you are not going to be taking the test.

Great book!

If this is your first foray into wireless protocol analysis then this book is very very helpful and easy to read but the flow of some of the topics needs to be corrected. For example in several of the first few chapters the authors throw around terms such as mmpdu, bsa, msdu, etc. before they are defined to the reader. The reader does not get the full definition of such words until chapter 5 and 6 and this can make things confusing for the first time reader. Since I had read the Cisco press 802.11 book before, those terms were not strange to me but their placement or use before the clarity could confuse some readers. Also, the Key Terms on page 127 for the chapter #4 of "configuration options and protections mechanisms" looks like the key terms from one of the earlier chapters.

My other issue is that the authors state that PCF is not wildly used and will only be covered in a summary fashion yet there is a lot of detail about PCF.

I disagree with the other reviewers about trace screens there should be more, see the Cisco press 802.11 book.

The layout of the frames and operation are very good and the book does make learning this topic a little easier. I did learn a few new things that I didn't get from the Cisco press book. I used the book mostly for the CWAP went through 4 reads plus 4 read of the Cisco press. I labbed a lot of the protocol traces to learn. The book is very good and does make it easier to learn and grasp. But, there is a lot to cover in this text for the exam. I was able to pass on the first attempt with a decent score.

The book, although very good for a first edition, does have a lot of errors and the errata is growing.

I and others have posted many of the errors to be included in the errata on the CWNP forum.

Overall it is an excellent book but these inconsistencies should be corrected in the second edition. It has the potential to be one of those all time great guides and professional reference once the errors are corrected.

Worth every penny and worth taking the CWAP. I learned a lot from this book....

This book was recommended to me by many people--professors in my master's degree program and English teachers. I borrowed a copy and I knew right away I had to have my own. This book has it all--sound theory and excellent examples of practical techniques in action. It even discusses how to get a job. The portions on class room instruction were especially interesting to me because I see discussion as the most important thing that happens in an English class. This book is The Book to get if you're going to teach English (especially high school English). I have enjoyed all of Burke's books and I hope there are more to come.

This is a really good book with lots of great information and good ideas for teachers both new and experienced. However, you'll have to get by his "look at me" pompousness and the many errors. It looks like Mr. Burke decided to edit the book himself, as he's so good at what he does. While I'm sure he is a really great teacher, all writers need a really great editor. The deficiencies can be overlooked because of the variety of quality information. Putting his picture on both the front and back of the book was a bit overdone, though...

I found this to be one of the best books on the market. If you are looking for a comprehensive guide to get around the city this book is a must. I do quite a lot of traveling in Europe and always pick up a "Eyewitness Travel Guide" since they have more in depth history, plenty of pictures, and take you on guided walks throughout the city. You are provided with lists to the museums, restaurants to suit all tastes, and hotels ranging for tight budgets to high class. I would recommend this book to everyone. Have a great trip!

Great Travel Guide, Beautiful Coffee Table Book!

.
Summary:
Every Dorling Kindersley Guide has been a great and interesting book... and delightful to have and use, even if you are not traveling to that location, but are only interested in learning more!

The Guides are well organized in a logical and easy to follow manner. They are beautifully illustrated, well developed with accurate information (it is unusual for hotel and restaurant information to be that accurate), have enough history to help the reader understand the people and cultural background, and have a lot of useful travel information and useable maps in the appendixes.

The really great attraction to this book is several fold; it is:
............Very complete
............Easy to read
............Beautifully and artistically completed
............Good shopping, safety and other tips
............Gorgeous photographs too numerous to list.

Specifics:

The guides are organized as follows:

How to use this guide
Introduction to Historical and Geographical information
............Introducing Amsterdam
........................Amsterdam on the Map
........................History of Amsterdam
........................Amsterdam at a Glance
........................Through the Year (events, holidays)
............Amsterdam Area by Area, each section includes:
........................Introduction to street by street area
........................Detailed pictorials of area buildings
........................Architectural drawings, pictures, cut-aways of buildings
........................Specific stops, historical monuments, churches, buildings, etc.

Travelers Needs - includes full list with rankings and notes
............Hotels
............Restaurants, bars, cafes
............Shops / Markets
............Entertainment

Survival Information
............Practical
........................Tourist info., Etiquete, Personal Security and Health
........................Currencies, Telephones, misc info.

............Travel Information
........................Planes, trains and automobiles, signs
............Street Maps
............General Index
............Phrase Book

Discussion:
The book begins with "Introducing Amsterdam", including a complete map, a review, the city's history, and Amsterdam through the Year - including events, etc.

For the specific areas it provides an "At a glance" overview, then has subsections of specific blocks, or sections, then specific locations, churches, historical monuments, bridges, galleries, etc.

Architectural reviews include various views, and cutaways; given greater understanding and better perspective. They are all attractive, if not works of art - honestly.

The travelers' Info. offers good and valid info. on prices, currencies, customs, important words, etc. I used the reviews on hotel's restaurants and nightclubs, etc. and found they were useful and accurate, and helpful with my touring and site decisions

The books are so well thought-out that it has multiple maps, with various lookup tables, and the book's flaps are designed to be used as bookmarks for map pages.

Conclusion:
Each book in this series is a great help, and beautiful collectible resource. As the President, CEO of an International Meeting Planning Corporation we have many resources and techniques to learn about places we have meetings / groups at as well as the cities and sights. But, as a traveler, this book really is top notch and I would recommend it to anyone going on a personal trip, or wanting to learn about a city, or location. We have used some of these books to augment our research to investigate cities for our groups.

Excellent Book!

After reading some reviews, I bought two guides (just in case), since DK Eyewitness Guide was labled as "expensive". But I wound up using only DK Guide. It has everything you need. The information is easily accessible. The maps are great. Just perfect for a quick reference. You'll find yourself refering to it again and again while walking the streets of Amsterdam (I just couldn't deal with reading long pages of information (probably very useful) in Frommer's Guide).

The selection of restaurans was great. Every restaurant rated in this book that we went to was a hit.

I read the reviews before buying this and thought it would be great. My 3 yr old is overweight and I needed some ideas to eat more healthy. If you already know much about eating healthy, a lot of the things in this book you will already know. I really bought it for the menu items to cook things she would enjoy eating. There really weren't very receipes. If you are buying it as a cookbook, I would think twice. It did have some good tips, but it isn't a book I'll be using every day to help think of dinner ideas.

I found this book while looking for some healthy recipes that my kids (2 & 4) would eat. It turned out to be much more than just recipes- it has changed the way our family eats- for the better! It has an easy to follow six-week plan, which I think is brilliant, because you can gradually add in healthy items and the kids don't even notice that they're eating healthier. The plan is also very flexible- you do what works for your family. I don't want to completely ban treats, but I know that for the most part we are eating healthy, so I don't mind us having some special treats now and then. It has some great recipes in it, too. I just think it is a great book for any parent to have and I highly recommend it! My family is well on it's way to a healthier diet and the kids enjoy the food, too.

An asset to any family and every kitchen

This book is an absolute asset to any family and of course to every kitchen! This is the book to get for all those who are bogged down in the never ending cycle of work, home, extra murals, not knowing even what to shop for half the time, tired and bored with food and no new ideas on getting your family back on track and eating the way you should be eating. I have two kids, I work, I run a business, my schedule is never ending and I'm totally out of food ideas. This book has been so refreshing in its non-judgemental and realistic approach to improving your lifestyle and eating habits and getting into a routine and situation that just works! What I would suggest is that if you're looking for recipes as well, to also go ahead and buy a couple of practical kid friendly cook books to draw inspiration from. Go for something that is easy and doesn't require any drawn out preparations - just something to grab and go and cook up in less than an hour. There are some really great recipes in Feeding the Kids, however I feel that more is more and only serve to add to the variety, making life even easier! Meal planning although it can take some time initially is also something to really go for! Buy yourself a journal and spend some time - even over the period of a week or so, preparing a month or even two weeks worth of menus. This way you can photocopy and paste recipes into the journal and have everything you need on hand when you go shopping and are ready to cook. With two weeks worth of recipes and meals you just recycle when you get to the end of it and probably go several months that way too! I found books like sneaky chef and deceptively delicious to be a waste of time and energy - get your kids into the real deal! Quite honestly I think they probably gain more from V8 or fresh smoothies made from real fresh fruit that hasn't been cooked up to hell and gone, pureed and then recooked - probably leaving all the nutrients behind anyway!

Fantastic book!

The recipes are easy and the menus offer great ideas for pulling together balanced and nutritious meals and snacks. In addition, the nutrition information is presented in a logical, easy to understand way! This book has really turned my family's poor eating habits around!

I have read dozens of books covering this topic, but this is one of the most comprehensive guides on the market today.
There is no fluff here - Penny Sansevieri delivers nothing but non-stop tips from front to back. The sheer volume of suggested websites alone is worth the price of the book! I found myself constantly highlighting passages and web addresses and will spend hours on the Internet researching all of the leads.
This is a must for any author - because in this day and age, you WILL have to do most of the marketing yourself!

This is the most helpful and comprehensive book on how to market a book. I learned so much from Penny and recommend her book to all my writing students who are seeking publication. These days the author is responsible for marketing her book and it is worthwhile to know what you are doing in order to get the most from your publicity dollars.

I've marked, highlighted and dog-earred this book and I continually come back to it as a reference manual as I am publicizing my book RIGHT TO RECOVER: Winning the Political and Religious Wars Over Stem Cell Research in America. With the advice in this book I was able to put together a marketing plan for pre-publication that my publisher is very pleased with.

From Book to Bestseller by Penny Sansevieri is the book you need if you intend to self publish and also if you are published by a major publisher. The author, who has seven other titles to her credit, is an expert in how to promote yourself and your book on Television, radio, book signings and other ways. She discusses the secrets of writing books that sell, creating unique marketing campaigns, budgeting, and more. This is THE book that authors need! Excellent!

Primarily about marketing through personal appearances
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-14
I admit, most of the contents of _From Book to Bestseller_ were not new to me because I've already read other books on marketing for self-publishers, which contained much of the same advice. I found this book to be rather breezy and fluffy in comparison. I also admit that I'm an editor as well as an author, and this book is in need of editorial work. To get my pet peeves out of the way, it's time for the copyeditor and layout artist to discover:

* Curved quotation marks
* That reviewers will not respect a publisher who calls an ARC an " advanced" reading copy (it should be "advance")
* A better use of white space in the layout--especially, using less of it
* And, that certain tips don't have to be repeated in multiple chapters, because this is a book, not a series of independently published reports

Having gotten all that off my chest: _From Book to Bestseller_ consists of a series of very short, bite-sized chapters, like little reports. Its real strength is its advice on radio and TV appearances, rather than on some other and often very successful marketing methods. There is little information on mailings to consumers, bookstores, and libraries; on the mechanics of writing catalog copy, ad copy, and press releases; or on the use of wholesalers and distributors.

This book makes little attempt to discuss the comparative values of different marketing methods, or on how to analyze whether a given method is working for your particular book. Because an infinite amount of time and money can be spent on marketing, but much of it will not bring results for a given book, this is a significant weakness. _From Book to Bestseller_ sometimes implies that just "getting exposure" automatically sells books. That is not in fact the case.

For example, there is an upbeat chapter on starting a syndicated column. A syndicated column can be a useful revenue stream for a professional journalist. But since it takes substantial time and effort to not only get syndication, but to write column after column after column, it's an exceedingly time-consuming way to just publicize a book. An author can hardly mention his or her book in every column. It is much easier, and just as effective, to do a one-time press release mailing to journalists already writing columns.

I would recommend _From Book to Bestseller_ only to authors and self-publishers who want to market their books primarily through TV, radio, and personal appearances--and who have already done research to determine whether these very time-consuming methods are likely to market their particular book well.

From Book to Bestseller is the full meal, from appetizer to dessert, on the art of marketing a book. Penny Sansevieri has written the definitive guide to the process of self promotion. If she does not cover it, you don't need to know it.

With so many books being published every day (statistic used in the book is 195,000 a year) it is up to the author to find a way to make his book standout from the rest. It is especially true for authors that so not have paid media specialists working for them. This resource guide gives both debut and experienced authors the tools and information to be able to get the word out about their books. The lay out of the book is conducive to easily accessing and processing the information. Large type lets the reader focus on understanding the suggestions, well thought out, complete chapters and sections form a logical progression through all the different stages of promotion. It is extremely thorough in addressing the many facets of book marketing from creating a successful media and press kits, It includes the addresses and contact names for many for radio stations, associated press, reviewers, and tv (even Oprah). Web addresses that cover a wide assortment of needs are also listed throughout the book and under Helpful Web Sites.

Her hints include such interesting information as the best time of year to pitch an idea, the best time of the week to have your book arrive at the reviewer's office and why mass emails are not a good idea. it is the strength of the book that it does cover such ideas that most authors will not have considered. It is truly specialized knowledge. For the simple cost of a book authors receive in depth information they can only get from a professional in the business of marketing and self promotion. Not a bad deal at all.

Although this book was written with authors as the target audience it could also be helpful for anyone beginning to market a new product or or even a new business. Sansevieri has an insiders knowledge about the business of promotion that can be translated into PR for authors or entrepreneurs.

(It is ironic that, with all her expertise, Ms Sanseviei would get her book to a review site she does not include in her book. Oh well- we can assume she will rectify that and add Front Street Reviews in future editions.)

Christine Mockler Casper begins with a clear working definition of emotional intelligence. She then goes on to illustrate the steps leading to the resulting benefits of developing personal emotional intelligence.

The book is filled with inspiring and motivational quotations that set the pace for each chapter. I especially liked the succinct chapter summaries.

Each chapter includes thought provoking exercises in the form of a Personal Emotional Intelligence Journal, Self Motivational Assessments, and Inter Personal Assignments. These exercises are stimulating and an important part in the process of applying the principles of self actualization and becoming an authentic individual.

The book is a guidebook for discovering self assessment techniques, understanding in relationships, and new skills in managing others. The work is scholarly, well researched, and well documented, with extensive appendices. The bibliography provides a complete and helpful resource list.

I highly recommend this book for the professional business leader, or the lay person interested in strengthening and broadening of social, family, and parental relationships. The book can be used as a classroom text, a small group study guide, or for individuals seeking encouragement.

The layout of the book is unique. The clean cover design and appealing page and chapter set up make this an excellent gift for any serious motivational student.

Christine Mockler Casper has shared a full body of knowledge about EQ (emotional intelligence) in a very palatable, well-written format. As an education and development professional I have collected a lot of anecdotal evidence over the years about the importance of emotional intelligence in the workplace, but Ms. Casper has infused research throughout the book to back up the EQ anecdotes in a very user-friendly prose.

From Now On With Passion provides an excellent synthesis of the theory of Emotional Intelligence combined with extensive practical application for personal and professional growth. Christine Mockler Casper begins with a review of the literature in the field and offers simple, practicle explanations of the significance of EQ. In the second part of the text, she parallels Goleman's structure to offer advice on improving EQ. In the final section, she offers some higher level application of the materials. Throughout the work, her exercises and assessment tools make the work personal and applicable. An excellent read with substantial payoffs.

I just finished reading this book and I can't stop thinking about it, it is wonderful! It's beautifully written and reads like a novel. The only thing that I felt it was missing was some sort of follow up on the secondary characters. Since Burma is still struggling, I wasn't expecting a totally happy ending but I was curious if he knew what became of some of his friends. Other than that, this is a fantastic, beauuuutiful book!

If you enjoy the pleasure of reading a fascinating autobiography written by someone with consummate skills in composition as well as an incredible story to tell- GET IT! This is one of the best reads of 2006 for me. Or, for that matter, of any other year.

Enjoyable and very informative

I read this book while traveling in Burma late 2006. It's a powerful and informative book. I recommend it to anyone. In a remarkably enjoyable story, Mr. Thwe explains what it's like to live and struggle for survival under Burma's military dictatorship.

I liked this book immensely on several levels. As an anthropologist, I found it very interesting to get a Padaung's eye view, written in literate English, of his own background, his childhood in the remote, forested mountains of eastern Burma. The author tells of everything---from the strictures of Roman Catholic missionaries in far parts of Asia, to eating dogs, baby wasps, and snakes (with relish), his grandmother's stories, guardian spirits, a Padaung funeral. The Burmese political climate of the 1960s and `70s merely lurks in the background until the author drops out of a seminary and heads to Mandalay to attend university. While information about various remote peoples is not uncommon, it is usually processed by foreign writers who have visited them. FLGG gives it to you from the horse's mouth.

On a second level I admired Pascal Khoo Thwe because I'm an American, grandson of immigrants who left traditional villages in Russia for a new life, a freer life, in America. Odysseys like Khoo Thwe's form the essence of the American experience, but perhaps few are so dramatic---from university student, to jungle fighter to student at Cambridge University to published author. I can easily see the difficulties of becoming a new man (my family took the last name "Newman", but the real story is long) in a new country. I recalled Sir Albert Maori Kiki, a Papua New Guinean born into a Stone Age village, but who became a pathologist and high ranking Minister in his newly-independent country. I once had read his book, "Kiki: Ten Thousand Years in a Lifetime" and had been inspired by it.

This leads me to admire the book on a third level. We who live in modern countries, whether East or West, tend to denigrate those who live in poorer, less fortunate nations often suffering under tyrannical regimes. We feel that they may not have the sensibilities that we pride ourselves on. FLGG is a book that will shatter any such belief. The human spirit flies into the heavens from every corner of the globe, in all epochs. We--as Man---are universally capable of the greatest transformations and adjustments, able to surmount suffering. Pascal Khoo Thwe's thoughts and feelings, as expressed in his book, are eloquent proof of this. From a brutal regime which suppressed all independent thought, from a jungle war with no mercy, emerged a thinking, feeling man. I felt proud to be a human being when I finished. I admit that his book even moved me to tears.

A fourth reason why I liked FLGG is that it provides echoes of the same topic found in "Reading Lolita in Tehran" and "Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress"---the transformative power of literature and its ability to change human nature. As a student of English Literature, no matter how constricted, Khoo Thwe could respond to different ideas, imagine a different world. The theme is not the dominant one as it is in the above named works, but it is there. But now, Pascal Khoo Thwe, a Padaung, has produced a work to stand in company of the works of mankind. Read it.

This book has quite deservedly collected very favorable reviews and I will not belabor the point. I would like to add that I read this book shortly before a visit to Burma nearly 2 years ago. The insights gained, both political and cultural, were extremely helpful to me during the visit.

One of our guides, herself a Shan, was well educated but unaware of this book and expressed a great interest in reading it but I had not carried it with me. Any of you planning to visit might consider taking this along - less obvious than writings of Sang An Su Qui - and leaving it as a gift. I believe many in Burma would appreciate access to this book.

I love this book, it has helped me post on a trot. (Seemed impossible at first :)

It gives lots of good tips from basics to jumping. Learn how to keep yourself safe. Learn good technique. If you're taking riding lessons, this is a definite must-read.

A well-titled book!

Riding lessons are expensive, so it's important to get the most bang for the buck. This book will help. Mike Smith explains the basics of riding clearly, and offers some classic "what to do if...?" scenarios one is certain to encounter while interacting with horses. In addition, the photographs are very helpful in illustrating topics like posting the trot and dismounting properly and safely. I have found that this book helps me review specific material covered in an actual lesson, and also gives me ideas for further discussion with my teacher. Mike Smith's writing style is straightforward and enthusiastic. Highly recommended for beginning riders of all ages, and one of the best books I've seen for a riding student. This book covers English riding only.

I love this book, I have been taking lessons for about a year and a half, and I bought this book after about 6months of lessons. It clearly explains so many things, I constantly refer to it. I think that all new riders should read this book before even going to their first lesson, to give a clear explaination of horse lingo, positions and care. I think this has been the most constant resource that I have used to explain things that my instructor and I are having trouble with.

Mike taught me to ride as an adult student at Woodland Horse Center in Maryland back in the 1980's. I'll never forget his patience, humor, and innate "horse sense." I've since moved to Wellington, Florida (a major equestrian and polo center), for reasons I thought were mostly unrelated to horses. I haven't ridden in many years. So there I was in a store looking for a book to help my son Will Tedesco, who at [...] and maybe 40 pounds is just beginning to ride. Imagine my surprise to come across this book, which I hadn't known existed! At 50, I'm once again feeling that old tug to get back on a horse, and I'm sure Mike's sensible advice will again stand me in good stead. Unlike most of his readers, however, I'll be able to hear his voice inside my head reminding me to "steer!"

Not very helpful for the Western rider

I realize many techniques of English riding are transferable to Western, but, as a Western rider trying to improve my seat and aids, I found this book frustrating and unhelpful.

This is simply the best GROL study guide on the market. It covers every question in the pool with a brief explanation of each answer. It is perfect for a person with electronics knowledge wanting to get a GROL

I did read one review complaining that only taught the questions. This book is NOT designed to teach you electronics. The FCC GROL exam is a very difficult test that covers a wide range of subjects in the electronics field. Many experienced and educated professionals take, AND FAIL the GROL exam.

This book allows the experienced technician to learn where to focus the knowledge in order to pass the exam. The brief answers provide just enough understanding to jog your memory and bring out what you already learned.

This book rather than teaching the principles, teaches the question pool. It goes through question by question, just giving the answer and an extremely brief explanation, if any explanation at all. All of the material is covered, however, the book seems best suited for someone with previous radio and/or electronics experience.

If you want to pass the FCC test, study this cover to cover!
