Counted over 40 errors in this book

I have never run across a technical book with more serious errors than this one. Its unreal that this book was, apparently, not proof read at all before publication; because you cannot trust *any* information in "Communications Licensing and Certification Examinations: The Complete TAB Reference" due to the *huge* number of major errors. At the minimum an errata should be sent with each book, even though the errors are so pervasive that a re-publication or second edition should have been performed to clear these mistakes up.

This video is an ok recruiting tool to help teenagers want to learn to drive a forklift. However, it does not teach how to use a forklift. Also, it's less than 15 minutes long.

Bad examples and definitions that are too long. Would only recommend as a door stop. Why would someone make definitions the centerpiece of their work? Seriously, people need to learn THEOREMS~! Theorems are the condensed work of hundreds of bright individuals throughout the ages, while definitions are one mans attempt to define a concept. Attempt being the key word. And they are different from person to person. Don't buy a book that emphasizes definitions.

The book is 142 pages, and 80+ pages are blanks to fill in schedules, or have one quote, or are really blank. The rest of it is even more useless than that. If I could have given it minus stars I would have.

I just took the NY State Civil Service Exam for Public Information Specialist today. Not a single question from the book was on the exam, in case you're wondering. I didn't expect a lot of the same questions anyway, although one or two would have been nice. My problems with this book are the following:

Most, if not all, of the pages have noticeable spelling and grammatical errors. That's fine, but it makes one wonder how many of those errors are in the answer keys. One noteworthy example: the "correct" answer to "Which one of the following statement does not contain any spelling, grammatical, or diction errors?" contains the word "passanger."

This book was a hastily assembled collection of photocopied sections, most of which were clearly very old. Many of the questions involve "current" events from the 1950's (What countries comprise the Central Treaty Organization?) and 1960s (What was the subject of the bestseller The Fire Next Time?) The grammar is noticeably not gender neutral. Because of these and many other similar anachronisms, I had absolutely no frame of reference for questions such as "What has the national unemployment rate been for the past several years?" (answer: 9%). I guess that's okay, since the real exam didn't ask that.

I estimate that the most recent questions in this book were written in the early 1990's (one question referred to the Prisoner's Dilemma as originating 40 years ago) Most of the sections used courier font or the electric typerwriter font with the pseudo-cursive characters (I don't know the name of it) popular in the 70's. Accordingly, there were absolutely no mentions of the internet in the book, even though there were several questions about web design on the exam I took today.

When the Public Information Specialist exam was announced, the online prices for used editions of this book spiked considerably. Because I'm not foolish enough to pay $75 for a study guide, I called NLC directly and ordered it over the phone (which turned out to be pretty foolish anyway, but who knew?). To their credit, it arrived very quickly. To my credit, I have learned never to waste my money on these books again.

As of this writing, one seller has this book listed for $65. I paid $27 +$8 shipping, and I overpaid by about $35 or so. Don't do it.

I was disappointed in this book. It is a collection of artificial situations with equally stilted responses. There's nothing in it you can't come up with on your own.

The book was a waste of time and money. I'd give it a zero but there isn't one.

I purchased Mr. Weagant's "COMMAND FCC license course" which included this book.
In perusing through this book I found a number of incorrect calculations on simple resistor circuits. I emailed Mr.Weagant and fully explained with both words and diagrams why his calculations were incorrect.

He just blew me off in his response and said just do as it is in the book. I then checked with several Electronic engineers. We all had the same answers. I again emailed Mr.Weagant. He never responded.

The book has a number of incorrect answers. Purchasing this book will not help you pass the FCC exam.
