An informative read...Review Date: 2006-01-18
The cd-rom consists of video and audio segments or snippets as they are quite short on the average; it includes voice commentaries, installation videos, teleprompters, and practice media for you to develop your skills.
The book is and entertaining read with chapters on the history of broadcasting, the various types of broadcasting( radio dj, television, cable etc), the great broacasters, interviews, the biology of the human voice mechanism, techniques and the like.
Overall this book is definitely helpful in guiding towards the broadcasting industry and could be useful for students of mass communication and media studies.

Buffy tries to have a happy birthday and everything changesReview Date: 2003-11-01
"Surprise," written by Marti Noxon, begins with Buffy having nightmares about Angel getting dusted and ends with her celebrating her birthday in a way that gives her vampire with a soul boyfriend a moment of true happiness that has horrible consequences. We discover these in "Innocence," written by Whedon, where Angeleus takes over the attempt to raise the Judge from Spike and Dru. "Phases," written by Rob DesHotel and Dean Batali, takes time out from the Angelus threat for Oz to discover that he has been transformed into a werewolf after being bit by his nephew. Then there is the comic relief of Marti Noxon's "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered," in which Cordelia breaks up with Xander--on Valentine's Day no less--and he responds by getting Amy the witch to work a love spell, with results pretty much the complete opposite of what he intended.
That distraction only heightens the pathos of "Passion," written by Ty King, in which Angelus kills Jenny Calendar and finally succeeds in convincing Buffy that the vampire she loves has to die. The conclusion of the Angelus story arc and Season 2 of "BtVS" turns out to be even more painful as the show becomes absolutely operatic.

More cut dialogue, inside jokes, and "BtVS" shooting scriptsReview Date: 2003-07-15
The sources of enjoyment are twofold. First, these teleplays represent the original shooting scripts for the first six episodes from the third season. That means you get not only typos and misattributions, but dialogue and even full scenes that were not included in the final broadcast version of the show because they were cut due to length (but if you read along while you watch the episodes on DVD you will notice that sometimes there are additional establishing shots, a sure sign that the episode was running short instead of long). Second, there are stage directions and if there is anybody on the face of the earth whose stage directions you would want to read in a television script those would be those that escape from the fertile mind of Joss Whedon. True, he only writes one of the episodes of the half-dozen collected here, but it is well known that he is involved in editing the rest of the scripts.
Included in this volume are the scripts for: "Anne" by Joss Whedon, "Dead Man's party" by Marti Noxon, "Faith, Hope & Trick" by David Greenwalt, "Beauty and the Beasts" by Marti Noxon, "Homecoming" by David Grenwalt, and "Band Candy" by Jane Espenson. If you do not know that these are the episodes where Buffy comes back from her adventures in Los Angeles where she fled after killing Angel, that she receives a less than warm welcome from the Scoobies, and that Faith arrives in Sunnydale, then the final question is why are you looking at this volume? These shooting scripts are meant to be enjoy by those who have these episodes memorized, not newbies.
