I AM A THIRD YEAR M.E.T. ( MANUFACTURING ENGINERRING TECHNOLOGY) STUDENT AT NIU(NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY). LAST SEMSTER I WAS ENROLLED IN A CLASS KNOWN AS TECHNOLOGY-294 IT WAS A CLASS ABOUT HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED AND INFULENCED OUR SOCIETY. AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER INSTEAD OF A FINAL EXAM WE WERE REQUIRED TO WRITE PAPERS AND GIVE PRESENTATIONS. I CHOSE TO DO MINE ON THE HISTORY OF THE AUTOMOBILE. I LOOKED AT MANY BOOKS, AT AMAZON AND MY CAMPUS LIBRARY, THAT WOULD GIVE ME THE TYPE OF INFORMATION I WAS LOOKING FOR."THE AUTOMOBILE" BY CLAY McSHANE WAS A GOD-SEND! IT HAD EVERY SINGLE STATISTIC, HISTORICAL HAPPENING, AND PIECE OF INFORMATION EVEN REMOETLY RELATED TO THE HISTORY OF THE AUTOMOBILE. EVER WONDER WHAT AUTO MAKER MISSED THE CHANCE TO HIRE ENZO FERRARI? OR MAYBE YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT AUTO MAKER IS BELEIVED TO HAVE STARTED THE HORSEPOWER REVOLUTION WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE FIRST PUSHROD ENGINE. THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL! I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS A BIT EXPENSIVE BUT ONCE I READ ALL OF THE FACTS AND FIGURES, IT'S PRICE WAS CLEARLY JUSTIFIED. OVERALL THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK!

We are recommending this book to the visitors of the designzine.com Web site, the online newsstand for design. While many of the voracious readers of design book have become familiar with some few auto designs by Le Corbusier, Gropius, and others, there was no intelligent study before this contribution by Ivan Margolius, an architect himself, that so fully documents the subject. Happily, the literate text is not infused with the kind of macho techno-speak found in most standard car books. We like that the book was made easy to read by the non-intrusive graphic design of Alun Evans and Katy Hepburn (not the movie star).

I used this when getting into the automotive field and it was a great introduction book and reference guide. Interesting enough that the average reader would find the info really in-depth. Recommended.

This is a great book if your a beginer with cars. It really talks alot about the way the engine works and how to service and fix your car. I am a car mechanic and this book even tought me some. It is really interesting.

I have not read the book completely. But it contains lot of useful "must have" informtions for any interior design engineers. I have been looking for this book for many months "it is out of print". Please let me know if you find any other book with similar contents.

My uncle started his own auto service business this year but did not have much clue about how to and what to. Then I searched for books but found only few of them useful. This is one of the helpful books I read, in addition to Robert Weber's Opportunities in Automotive Service Careers, ISBN 0071381953. However, this one being reviewe is much more specific and has step by step guides which is plain and simple. Highly recommended.

This is a text book and is written for working automotive technicians. It covers everything from what basic tools you need to the functions of the component parts of every common steering and suspension design. I've learned a lot from it. The book is well written, layed out and edited.

If you are looking for a book on building race car suspensions, raising or lowering your vehicle - you might want to look somewhere else. If you are studying for an automotive certification this is the best book I've found. It has quizzes at the end of each chapter. It's full of tips, real world examples and diagnostic tricks. There are lots of pictures and illustrations. Included with the book is a coupon for an online ASE practice certification exam. I don't know what's on the CD.

This book througly explains the working of an automotive suspension and gives good tips on how to diagnose problems on any vehicle.

The ubiquitous North American B-25 Mitchell medium bomber saw service on all war fronts in World War II, serving with various American and Allied units. Steve Pace kicks off a four-volume set on the B-25 from Osprey Publishing with this volume on B-25 ops in the Mediterranean Theater.

Five bomb groups utilized the B-25 in the MTO, being assigned to the 9th and 12th Air Forces. Whether carrying out high-altitude bombing missions or low-level strafing runs, these five groups - the 12th, 310th, 319th, 321st and 340th - compiled an enviable combat record from August 1942 to war's end.

Pace devotes single chapters to each group along with a shorter section on the 58th BW. Each chapter is chock-full of combat accounts by B-25 pilots and crewmen along with many fine photos of aircraft, aircrew, in-flight combat scenes, crashes, etc. The book has over 90 black & white and 11 color photos along with 12 pages of color sideviews by Jim Laurier. MTO B-25s carried a great variety of paint schemes which are nicely illustrated by Laurier including two pages of marvelous nose art views.

B-25 MITCHELL UNITS OF THE MTO is a nicely done overview of those five bomb groups, an entertaining mix of exciting combat accounts, interesting photos and first-rate artwork. Here's hoping the next three volumes are as equally well done as this one.

....you must have this book in your collection...also if you are a FAN of the "vertical" flight or just curious of the history of this amazing all "doing an landing" jet. Many nice pictures and all history and cronology of the jets ever produced.
