Funny, but possibly too irrevent

I wasn't sure about this book when I first picked it up. Was it going to be blasphemous about our Lord's life and works? I found the book to be a funny look at how silly, and stupid being "politically correct" is. It is somewhat irrevent about sacred things of God, but I think unless you are a extreme Christian Fundamentalist you will find the book well within the boundaries of not taking sacred things too lightly.

Just the sort of book to give to someone who is annoyed with all things "politically correct" (whatever that means).

Parables is fun for old and young. Walker's incisive witmakes parables a quick read. I found it impossible toput down. The remake of historical parables in today'slanguage is apropos to the state of the world we live in.I heartily recommend this book to anyone looking to lighten the drudgery of daily existence

While reading this little book, I can't count the number of times I wanted to yell, "THAT'S ME!" The book brings humor on an "ordeal" - and oh, yes it's an ordeal! But it also lets you know that it is only life - learn to live with it -- but with a smile.

Lighten up on a "hot" and "heavy" subject!"

This book is a scream! I giggled all the way through it and then shared it with my friends of a certain age! In exchange my boss gave me a bumper sticker that said " I'm out of estrogen and I have a gun." Look out world there are more of us everyday!

Evans and Shakeshaft leave no stone unturned in their witty presentation of menopause. These are two mamas who have obviously been there and live to poke fun about aspects of menopause you never thought of. WARNING: Those who read this book while recovering from a hysterectomy may be in great danger of splitting their stitches!

I happen to work with a talking cock and all to often have great trouble understanding what the hell Phil is talking about. When I saw this book I thought to myself "great an aide memoir in Philism's and Phil'o'babble" so snapped it up without reading a page first. However buy in haste and repent at leisure I did not. It's actually quite good, a balanced look at the myths, social standings, science and humour surrounding the penis, an honest look at a sensitive subject. Although a book to help understand Phil would be great, I am happy to read this whilst waiting for the nice folks at Linguaphone to publish a set of books and tapes in Philistani.

I have never felt better about owning a penis before!

I suspect that it was mere whim that drew my eye to the spine of this book in a local bookseller's shop, but once I had seen it, I had to buy it. I'm certain I startled more than I few people as I began to read it in the Ikea cafeteria, laughing out loud often and uproariously as I did.
Mr Herring has done the world a great service in this book. As he has noted, it is far too easy for others to merely note the differences between men and women, but Mr Herring not only notes our differences, he goes on to convince the reader that all people, men and women, gay and straight, should start caring less about the size and other particulars of a favorite organ, and more about what we share in common. Men and women need not stand on separate sides of a wall erected by penises. We can exult in one another and in so doing, make the world a better place for us all!

Amusingly massages a bone of contention

This is not the first response to the Vagina Monologues that I have heard or read, but it is an obviously appealing counterpoint (note the O in the spelling. The book has more staying power than the stand-up comedy routine, but it takes some hard effort. Still the author is more than game in his enthusiastic thrusts and for the most part hits the mark. He scores with lots of obvious puns and double entendres (usually noted as such) and a mostly amusing selection of responses from his internet call for research. Not so earnest as the VM, Talking Cock still contains a small vein of seriousness throbbing beneath the "lung of desire" (his term). If the medium (as well as the minuscule and the extreme) is the message, Romanovsky and Phillips made it famous in their song, "Don't use your penis (for a brain)" Herring is at pains to assure doubtful women that not all men do.

I enjoyed "X-Presidents" so much I thought I'd try "Titans of Finance," thinking it would be in the same vein. While inspired, "Titans" is just not in the same league. If you're in finance and enjoy seeing some fine skewerings (most of them deserved), then give this book a whirl. Otherwise, spend a few more dollars and go for the "X-Presidents."

Josh Neufeld is known for his work on autobiographical comics featured in Keyhole (with Dean Haspiel) and in his newer comic "The Vagabonds." He's also worked on Harvey Pekar's landmark comic "American Splendor," which is now a major motion picture.

Titans Of Finance is also a comic book, albeit an unusual one. It's a departure for Neufeld- I think it was conceived as a one-shot, but who knows, hopefully there will be more. The cover gives readers a good idea of what to expect. Walker and Neufeld lambaste their greedy subjects, but treat them as human as well. This doesn't make us like them any better, but it does make these stories ring with truth.

If you are interested in biographical comics, or in finance, this book is for you. I truly hope they are reading it on Wall Street.

These people scare me...

I'm sure that Mr. Walker and Mr. Neufeld will be able to spend the rest of their lives on this brilliant (and disturbingly funny) title -- there seems to be an endless supply of stories about nasty, nasty people doing nasty, nasty things in the corporate world. So, when do they tackle the big fellas in our current regime who're sleeping with big money? Guess it's not a good time to rock the boat these days -- might end up in front of a court run by rabid kangaroos...

Often humorous, but entirely useful, this book sets out to codify the "Rules" of social engagements between men and women in these modern times. It should be required reading for anyone in their 20s and 30s who's on the dating scene.

This book is a masterpiece of concision and scholarly expertise. I cannot think of a single resource more valuable both for the modern single person out on the "dating scene" and for the serious relationship professional who wants to keep abreast of the current psychosexual mores in our culture. At the clinic where I work we stock the "Green Book" in our supply cabinet. One small quibble: I feel that the use of humor in this book, while it undeniably succeeds in creating a symphony of mirth that I literally could not put down, somewhat detracts from the sense of urgency that properly attaches to the American Dating Association's mission.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I've now decided to adhere to all the regulations of the "Green Book." It really lays out a blueprint for how a REAL relationship should work. And I won't waste time with men who can't be bothered to follow these simple rules. After all, if they can't follow a set of regulations listed point by point in a book, how can I expect them to understand something as complicated as a woman?

You know how they have the Scary Movie's where they make fun of the other movies. This book made me think of that as the author pokes fun at every thing and every one under the sun. Truly up there with one of the funniest books I have ever read. It is a fun and easy read. Highly recommended.

As one who detests such drivel as "The Secret", I read this with wary anticipation, being favorably disposed towards the practicality of "Who moved my cheese" and hoped that it would be spared the Author`s literary wrath.Actually, I was relieved after realizing that the Author`s disdain was confined to the former work only. This is written in a breezy style, yet with a careful blend of understatement and farcicality it avoids falling into the miry pit of silliness. In fact, some of the metaphors are such that one needs a post graduate degree to fully digest them.It is quite humorous and performs a thorough autopsy of the " mysterious force-field" known as the "Secret". Indeed, this was a worthwhile read.

Brilliant Satire of New Age "Philosophy"

Jim Gerard has something unique going on. His writing is simultaneously old-fashioned and as up-to-date as today's "Times." He's old-fashioned in the best sense of the word. He respects traditional humor writing, and he is adding his not inconsiderable talent to that tradition. His references to lowbrow trash as well as high art are evidence of an immense if somewhat bizarre cultural education. In fact, you better have a strong background in everything from the Three Stooges to Kierkegaard if you want to catch all the jokes in "Who Moved My Secret?"

And Gerard has more jokes per page in this book than any other writer publishing today. He is just flat-out funny. I don't know about you, but that's my rather simple comic litmus test. Jim Gerard gets a 100.

This cassette is so funny that I almost cried. I loaned it to a friend who listened to it while driving and had to pull over to laugh uncontrolably. It is very, very funny in that Al Franken/Stuart Smalley way. I would reccommend this for all those Stuart fans who need a fix. It is worth owning.

Franken's "Stuart Smalley" is probably his most brilliant character, and the short bits on SNL are absolute classics. But somehow it falls flat on tape without the visuals and Francken's mugging.

Perhaps those who are more intimately familiar with the self-help culture will find it funnier. For me, it seemed somewhat lifeless.

Being a member of a 12-Step Program and having endured many well meaning attempts at guided meditation, I thought I would "bust a gut" the first time I started listening to this tape. For all that I laughed, the ending is truly Adult Child work, and it moves me to tears every time I listen. In fact it is one of those "non conference approved" aids that I recommend to those I sponsor.

I believe this book to be for any woman that has been dumped by a man they loved. It can really pick your spirits up and give you that deserved burst of laughter. I have already given it to two girlfriends in the last month as "Sorry you got Dumped", gifts. They loved it. So I highly recommend it to any woman for that much deserved laughter.

Baby Fix My Car (Baby Be of Use)It is a little smaller than most board books, but nice and bright. I am sure it will be used to read to baby, and includes pictures of the necessary implements for each process. I am sure baby will be happy pointing to the car, and the wheel, and the hose, and so forth - nice every day items. I showed it to the older kids, and they really thought it was funny, but laughed at different things than the adults will, so this one should be a success for the whole family.
