I was having a dramaticalism day when I received this wonderful book as a gift. It helped me to cool out and disencouraged me to be darksighted.

After I read the book, I went on to have a terrifical day and didn't want to kick anybody in the batouche anymore. I realized I was being foolishment!!

A delightful fun-for-all-ages illustrated book by the author of Fears of Your Life includes some laugh out loud words like "Batouche" as in "I'm gonna kick you in the batouche" as well as sweet words like "You-ness" as in "You-ness is what makes you special and unique" and sad words like "Forcement" as in "When someone makes you go somewhere or do something against your will." The drawings are cute and loopy - highly recommended!

No Sophomore Slump Here

Review Date: 2006-12-19
You wonder when you read these kinds of books if the second one could be as good as the first one, but this one really is. It shows that everyday life is a sitcom in and of itself, but it also brings us experiences that we can learn from, both spiritually and in day-to-day life. It really causes you to think about the small things in life...like this author's amount of hair.

Unlike his college career and dating life, there is no sophomore slump in book publishing for Martin.

Five Star Rating for a book as-yet-unread!

Is it "fair" to rate an as-yet-unread book?! YES! Because the rating is based on enjoying Babb's previous book ("When Did Caesar become a Salad..."). Along with this "review" is my order for 10 copies of "It's a Dog Eat Dog World..."

Give this book to your renegade 10-year-old. The book is funny, smart, absurd, surreal, and doesn't talk down to the reader. I gave it to a ten-year-old son of a gal pal and the kid laughed for days. Steve Kille's illustrations alone are worth the price (the Amazon Search Inside feature doesn't do them justice). I guess there's an animation series to go along with the 10-book Rumpleville series. Here's one video I found for the forthcoming "Boris the Dog" Rumpleville Chronicle:

This was the real book "W"was reading the morning of 9/11!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-12-27
No, I ain't saying this book caused 9/11 -- but it sure explains why "W" was so hideously traumatized and that it took him 20 minutes to recover, exactly when our country most needed his leadership.

Forget the goat story -- that was a convenient stew cooked up by the limp wristed lefties hoping no one would read this highly controversial, right wing parable of our times. Think of it as the parable Jesus meant for us all to hear.

I have read chapters of this book outloud to friends over and over and over. It's drop dead, laugh out loud funny. With lines like "Contrary to popular opinion, the Fruite Brute was not Gay" and chapters analyzing the evolution of Cookie Monster's decades of Odes to Chococate Chip obsession, how can you go wrong?

Funny, Funny, Funny-Perfect for traveling or the beach

This book is an indepth look at junk food and its culture. It brings up philosophy dispensed by The Cookie Monster. Everything you ever wanted to know about gum, chocolate, cookies, candy and cereal. Celebrity quotes on their favorite junk foods. It is interesting as well as one of the funniest books I've ever read. It is perfect for the beach or commuting on public transportation. This is a book that will be passed from person to person and re-read many times. I can't recommend it more highly. It's perfect for what it is aiming to be. An amusing exploration of our nations real favorite past time.

Corporate Drones are People, too!

If you think that Dilbert is funny but doesn't go quite far enough, then you'll like this book. If you've ever skulked back to your cubicle after being dressed down by a boss who is only half as smart as you are, then you'll love this book. It does a very good job of lampooning many of the parts of corporate America that seem perfectly serious when you're at work -- and perfectly ridiculous after a couple of beers. Whether you need the Pontius Pilate Finger Bowl or the Organic Seat Saver (my personal favorite), this is the right catalog for you. There aren't many books that give me belly laughs, but this is one of them. It would be a perfect gift for your favorite back-stabbing colleague.

This book is hilarious. Each page contains a scene of famous 90s personalities, from Bill and Monica to Dan Quayle and the potato incident. My favorite is Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding, though Marion Barry behind bars and Hugh Grant's mug shot after arrest for soliciting prostitution are pretty good too. This book would make a great gag gift.

The Stalingrad Move
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-21
Whenever we play this game under the Trumpington Variation rule, my playing partners always insists on making the Stalingrad move. Thus rendering my next move a passive-attacking strategy play of offering 'Pimblico', which always results in the next vocalization of 'Mornington Crescent'. Little did I know, until reading this book, that my move of 'Pimblico' should not be utilised because that station does have staffing level of more than six on any weekday, other than the 3rd Tuesday after Whitsun-the abreached rule is the 24th Andrews Rule, which also allows the player to play out of bounds as long as the ball is square to the center of the station he/she is trying to traverse. I now stand enlightingly corrected and counter my playing partners call of 'Stalingrad' with the counter aggressive call of 'Baker Street'(see the Pollinger 3rd Movement). Which totally floors all my playing partners with its unachieveable brilliance-I can only think of two or three greater plays in the history of the game (Spitak v Tromlins 1925-of course was the true defining moment in the games history, as long as I live I will never forget the day Spitak called out 'Hillingdon' to Tromlins call of 'Aldgate'. Tromlins expression said it all and it was little surprise he was never the same player after that moment).

The only Mornington Crescent Guide you'll ever need! Or get.
Helpful Votes: 16 out of 16 total.
Review Date: 2000-12-15
Well, I'll start out the game with a bold, unorthodox move: Lancaster Gate. Your turn, and please remember that choosing alternate Sunday-only stations are not valid in the Amazon.com championship versions of the game, that Aldwych Station, though closed, is still a valid choice when backed into one of Mr. Garden's patented cross-hatch ploys, and of course I shouldn't need to remind you that choosing Jubilee Line Extension stations is still regarded as hopelessly amateur; should you choose to counter with Canada Water, you will be met with derisive giggles. Your move.

If the above doesn't mean anything to you, you're not a fan of the bewildering game of Mornington Crescent, and this is not the book for you. Go pick up a Bill Oddie birding book instead. On the other hand, if the above inspired you to snap out "Gants Hill" with authority and a smirk, then sprint, don't crawl, to pick up the only *authorized* Mornington Crescent companion (all others are mere shadows).

Seriously (and at the risk of ruining the joke) this is a humor book based on the popular BBC radio quiz show "I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue." British quiz shows like these, far from being a challenge to ordinary citizens to answer tough trivia, are more frequently a showcase for celebrities to show off their comic skills (think "Whose Line is It Anyway" rather than "Who Want to Be a Millionaire"). By far the most cheer-eliciting segment of ISIHAC is "Mornington Crescent," a round-table game in which the panelists must name London Underground stations, and the first to name Mornington Crescent is the winner. Sound simple? Well, it would be...if there were truly any rules other than to be funny while doing so...

If you're a fan of BBC radio comedy and you're in on the joke, this book is a must have, with Mornington Crescent history, Q&As, recipes, profiles, short stories (Charles Dickens versus Lewis Carroll in an especially ruthless and deadly game of MC)--everything a serious player of the game needs to know.

Except the rules.

Well, you can't expect them to give away *all* the answers, can you?

The only possible rating that you can give this book is 5 of 5... not many people know of it, or would care to. If you believe and follow God you will be absolutely scared of this book. This is about Ethics that hell uses. All I can say is it is a must read only if you can truely forgive humankind for being what they really are.

SAD, AWEFUL, GREAT BOOK

If you like college humor

Review Date: 2008-06-05
There is a particular freewheeling range in college humor that is different from the kind produced by older people. This collection highlights that variety: from idiocy to sublimity. You also get a good feeling for the decades it covers, and it's amazing how the jokes--especially the political stuff--still stand up today.

Still funny after all these years

Review Date: 2008-03-11
I grew up reading MAD, Cracked and National Lampoon. I learned how to interact with others not from Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People," but from the classic paperback series "Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions." ('Got a flat tire?' 'Nah, the other three just up and inflated on me.') Heck, I'll admit it: I even prefer Weird Al's versions of songs to the originals. So it goes without saying, I LOVE this book.

I remember relishing the Lunatic back in the early to mid to sort of late 80s while I took the long and winding road to graduating from Cornell. And I'll admit it, I was afraid the Reagan, Bush and Bush years might have jaded me to the point where I wouldn't be quite as tickled by the articles and artwork that kept me in stitches all those years ago. But I was wrong. This stuff STILL cracks me up. In fact, I was in tears reliving such classics as Breakdancing Rules for White People.

This is everything college humor should be: bust-a-gut funny, wet-your-pants funny, slap-your-knee-right-out-of-the-socket funny. Trust me, you'll laugh your a** off.
