I used this book for my church group girls ages 8-12. They loved trying out the different types of lettering for the cards they send to shut ins. The stencils were great for the younger ones, but the older ones wanted to try it all on their own and came up with some really unique looking cards. I was able to run copies of the pages and pass them around as there are 30 of them. Letters were also able to traced. This would also make a great gift for girls in that age group.

I can't imagine any kid or adult that wouldn' enjoy having this educational tool on hand. It's sturdily put together with a spiral binding, making it easy to handle while creating your masterpieces. It also includes a set of colored pencils -- quite a bargain! There are 5 pages of stencils, but I believe that you will soon progress beyond using them.

You will love this book!

As soon as I got this, I was off and running! This is all you need to create great lettering for anything you want to put headings, titles or labels on.

The letters you make with the five sheets of stencils will be about an inch, an inch and a half tall, so whatever you letter with those is going to be very big. But these are really nice stencils, with rulers on two of them, and special edges on the others, and fun shapes as well as letters, so these are going to be useful even after you finish the book.

There are tips in the book to make these big letters very artistic, so it's customizable. There are also ideas, instructions, and examples of ways you can do neat alphabets freehand.

And you also get four markers, eight double sided colored pencils (which were not that good, really, making this more of a four and a half star rating than a true five), an eraser, a mechanical pencil, and a pencil sharpener, two sheets of sticker paper, and a pack of practice paper.

This is a book good for beginner has step by step guide how to make the individual items. IT is a value for money book for beginner.

My son used his sister's copy of this book and loved it. He asked for it for Christmas and I bought it and received it so quickly, I was impressed. I can't wait to give it to him. It looks very impressive to me, also.

I made myself a miniature drugstore since I am a pharmacist and I had trouble finding things like mortars and cylinders. Thanks to this book I managed to make the most beautiful look-alike mortars with pestles and all, also a little turn-of-the-century (last century, of course) telephone. The directions are precise and you can really get what you are looking for (and I had never touched polymer clay in my life!)

This book is so full of good ideas for creating items in perfect scale for a dollhouse that I don't know where to start.

How to make your own tools and formers, making dishes and pots that are more realistically thin-walled than the commercially-available items, mimicking china, a ladies' vanity set, a desk set, baskets, metal, wood, flatware, foods, fireplace tools - even the kitchen sink! Way too many different items to name them all. If I was to be forced to give up all my dollhouse books but one, this would be the one I'd keep.

Excellent intro to using the clays - basic information. Trouble-shooting tips along the way.

And her videos are fabulous, too. :-)

The variety of projects in this book and the step-by-step explanations, make it a great resource for beginners and experienced miniature makers.
I would recommend this book to anyone who's interested in making their own dollhouse miniatures!

When my son was three, he made me read this book to him so many times that even now, 22 years later, I know the entire thing by heart.

Kids love this book. Parents do, too, at least the first 10 or 12 thousand times they read it to the kids!

I adored this book as a kid (I'm in my 30s now). I haven't gotten my new copy yet, but I think there is a lesson about temperance at the end, but that's not what I recall: I just remember the sheer joy of more, more, more. With books that use so few and such simple words, it's often hard for an adult to distinguish the adequate from the great. Speaking for my very young self, I can tell you that this book is great.

This is my favorite children's book - it is especially fun to read out loud. It has a cute level of humor and I've even had a class of 3-year-olds laughing at it. A good learn to read book - but also a good story in general.

I love reading this book to my daughter (2 1/2). I got it when i was a small child and have held onto it as one of my favorites. It is quickly becoming her favorite as well...the story flows so well its really fun to read...my daughter likes to see how fast I can read it without messing up.

I love this book. It lends itself to many activities with monkeys or spaghetti.

It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a great adventure story such as this! With this book, I recaptured the same experience I had when I first read the "Hobbit". I sincerely hope Paul Kidd,if possible, would consider a second book! Kudos to the others reviewers who have been more eloquent than I!

Mus is one of my favorite books, so I thought I'd share it with a teacher at my school; little did I know it would take a lot of effort to find a new copy of my own. This book is one of the best examples of fantasy I can think of, and I just adore it. It's on my top 5, and that's saying a lot. Let's get it back into print! It deserves it a lot more that most books out there now.

I have already left a message here, but I feel that something else is necessary. After I left a review here, the author was kind enough the email me and thank me. I was too shy to email back and thank him. But I would just like to say that I love this book and that I hope it returns to print. It should,it really should. Even after a couple of years, It is stil my favorite book, and I have read many books. The other people here have reiterated their wonder in the quality of this novel so I will not be redundent. But, let me say that I find the book a sort of sanctuary where I can return to after I grow weary or depressed. Not that I am obsessed or anything. I only read it about 6 times :0)

When I first saw the cover, I thought it was Reepicheep from the Dawn Treader, the talking mouse of Narnia. It had a feather on its head, a needle of a sword and it stood on its hindlegs. This book deserved better attention, unlike blood and gore and cynical world weariness which seemed to pervade most fantasy books today.

Mus of Kerbridge is almost like one of Grimm's or Han Christian Anderson's fairy tales - of knights and castles, ladies and love, magic abound and courage renowned.

In a magical world which was not named, centaurs, humans, satyrs and harpies dwelt together within the same kingdoms. A political intrigue led to an accident which created another sentient race - the mouse of which Mus was the first. Mus was forced to infiltrate the chamber of Miriam, a centaur lady. Turning against his tormentor, and swore to protect his lady.

As war threatened the kingdom, Mus became the source of inspiration to battle-weary soldiers to rally against the invaders.

This book is very much written to relate to children, but cynical adults could learn a lot from it, if only to open themselves to the possibility of beauty and kindness.
Paul Kidd managed to re-create the fantasy feeling of childhood days in an expanded puss-in-boots fantasy.

Those of us who have taken immense pleasure from reading and re-reading "Mus of Kerbridge" will be glad to see a second printing hit the shelves. Notice the quote says "may include" - it would be helpful if Mus fans wrote to Mr. Kidd via TSR and to Streamline to help facilitate this reprinting!

Perhaps it was the cute and rather silly picture on the cover, but "Mus of Kerbridge" didn't sell nearly as well as the story inside the cutesy cover deserved. I bought it when it first came out, in spite of the cover... and loved it! The story is as enjoyable for adults as it is for children; it has been a well-received and well-read gift many times. It has certainly kept my attention throughout the years and I still enjoy it quite as much as I did the first time!

The dialogue is occasionally a bit overdone in my opinion, but can not detract from the overall charm of this well-told tale. The plot is well-woven and the characters have substantial personalities and emotions. They are admirable people, even the enemy queen, showing strength of spirit and courage and a great lesson in appreciation for life.

My kids love game-boy, my kids love pokemon, if you have kids who love pokemon, they will love this book, it is hard-cover and had great info and illustrations about all the pokemon, KIDS WHO LOVE POKEMON WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

My son is in absolute heaven with this book. He can read it over and over, each time discovering something new. Thanks!

This is a terrific source of information for anyone interested in Pokemon.

This is pretty useful for checking out movelists for the various Pokémon. However, the information they give on stats is shaky, and sometimes actually incorrect when you do careful comparison between base stats for each creature. In general, the information is still in the ballpark, but the system they use can sometimes make it difficult to get an accurate comparison between two creatures without actually going in the game and leveling them up.

Also, the book really needs a list of the various Natures and their effects.

Overall, it's a nice purchase, though, and the hardcover is a great plus.

I bought this book for my 8 year old nephew who loves Pokemon. He reads this book religiously and often carries it around with him wherever he goes. He has memorized an incredible amount of information that he has learned from this book. At the very minimum, it is highly entertaining. At its best, it is good exercise for his mind.

I really think they are stretching to come up with more "Essential" books for Star Wars, but nonetheless, this is still a good book full of all the information you knew, know, wanted and didn't want to know about the lovable robotic droids of the Star Wars movies and books. Star Wars fans won't be disappointed, however there is not much here for the non-Star Wars fan, as they probably won't even know what their reading about (or if they did, they wouldn't care). I recommend this to all Star Wars fans.

In the immortal words of Darth Vader..."Impressive. Most impressive." I found this book to be not only an excellent resource but also a great read. It touches on every major detail of the droids that it mentions...which is quite a bit. You can read about anything from C-3P0's internal computer to the technical details of the medical droid. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to scratch the surface of Star Wars and dig a little deeper.

I have all of the Essential Guides and have been pleased with all of them to one degree or another. The Essential Guide to Droids, however, is one of the better ones. The author and artists have done their homework in researching the novels, but for all their work-there are some really silly designs in here, usually written into novels or whatever, because the author thought it would be cute, but only comes across as annoying or dumb (the C2-R4 comes to mind). Other designs have not been well thought out-the M38 Explorer droid is too tall, it seems logical that if you want an automated robot for planetary surveys, then something with a lower center of gravity would be a much better design. I would recommend that everyone ignore the fact that Anakin made C-3PO and keep his manufacturer as Cybot Galactica, since that is a little more believable. As always The Essential Guide to Droids would make an ideal addition to the Star Wars role playing table as well, and it has a good spread of robots from domestic, industrial to combat and medical droids. A solid effort with great art work and well written.

This is where I go to get information on Droids. You never seem to get really good description of the droids so this is where reccomend that you go and if you can't find out what you need to know the I would reccomend th Star Wars Encyclopedia.

The Essential Guide to Droids is better than the rest of the EG series thus far. It has good pictures and relatively informative schematic drawings of each of the droids, with better art than has been seen yet in a Guide. It also has the obligatory listing and brief description of all the major droid manufacturors in known. Another helpful feature is that it lists the droids according to their function, rather than in the standard alphabetical order, a la EG to Weapons. But the author goes beyond simply describing each droid and its function. He created background lore about the droids, and their developers. He doesn't make each droid individual, but rather trases entire product lines, for example, he goes from the R1 to the end of the R- series, creating the whole product line development, etc... What he doesn't do is spend the entire allotted text space for each droid simply relating the adventures it has had. This is a very helpful, informative, and readable SW book, and I'm glad I bought it.

I thought I was getting the tarot deck and a book of its history, but this is only a paperback about the history and traditions of Russia and this tarot style in specific. Informative and well-written, though.

Ever since my eyes fell on this deck I was drawn to it. I am of Eastern European heriatage and it appeals to me. The artwork is beautiful and makes for great readings. I am one who interprets the cards and the artwork, as well as the meaning, when reading the cards, and this deck is wonderful for doing just that. I also love the feeling I get when I'm reading these cards. I can't quite describe it, but it is special. Perhaps it is reconnecting with my family heriatage.

This deck has delightful illustrations and is a joy to read. I find this to be a pleasant change of pace from my Universal Dali tarot deck. If you want to learn tarot, but the Rider Waite deck is not your thing, I suggest you take a peek into this one. The size of the cards are pleasant.

I have a number of tarot decks that I actively work with,
more for spell work than reading the future, but this particular
tarot deck, the Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg, is without
doubt the most beautiful tarot set I have ever seen. Each card
is elegantly painted by the very talented Yury Shakov and
really captures the spirit and images of old Russia. But, more
importantly, at least to me it seems that Yury Shakov must have
also been a talented magician, because each card is filled with
mystical and occult symbols that are truly amazing. A wonderful,
beautiful tarot deck, regardless if you wish to read the future,
create spells or simply gaze upon them as artistic masterpieces.

Russian artist Yuri Shakov's miniature art work (he painted them at normal card size) is a crystaline cathedral of 78 stained-glass plates. Mr. Shakov incorporated historical icons where symbolically referential. Example: The rotting skull on the Death card may be that of Ivan The Terrible, and as has been mentioned, Stalin is the Devil. The Two of Clubs is a Russian 'Boyer', an influential man, akin to a 'Burger', to which the word is probably related anyway. The Fool is a rag-tagged 'scomorhoki'. Mr. Shakov passed away during his illustration of The Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg, and so not all of the cards were actually painted by Yuri Shakov.

The accompanying book by Cynthia Giles is not at all childish, but rather sophisticated and scholarly. Some very interesting Russian history is presented, which sets the stage for some of the characters on which the cards are modelled. Especially useful are the "keys", or one-word meaning of the card, written underneath the card name. The court cards and the major arcana do not use these keys, however. Be mindful about nuances of meaning that vary from those traditionally given for the Ryder-Waite deck. The Death card, for instance, can in fact indicate physical death. But these things are always subject to context. The arrangement of the court cards together, breaking them out of the more orthodox habit of listing cards One through King, is a bit difficult, and impedes the ease of looking up cards. For example, if you want to look up the Page of Clubs, you don't start with the One of Clubs and flip through to the Ten of Clubs and then Page of Clubs; oh no, this would be too easy. You have to find the section marked "The Court: Card By Card".

The cards are startlingly beautiful, and capture an essence of psychic experience not unlike that revealed by hallucinogenic mushrooms, where a dark "outer space" background frames illuminated colors and strictly define textures. Mood is precisely captured. In some ways, these cards are cold, dark, isolated and lonely, in contrast to the Ryder-Waite, which can be warm, sunny, and in the company of friends or family. I've imagined that this is what existence may look like if our spirits roamed randomly throughout the spirit world, like the Vietnamese girl in the film Hair, who, after becoming a war casualty, was shown floating through space, aware and melancholy.

The integrity of the elemental significance is not well preserved, I think. Clubs and wands are traditionally assigned to the element of fire, but the clubs of the Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg are simply war maces, as opposed to green staves (Ryder-Waite) or torches. Ryder-Waite uses plenty of hints to indicate the suit of wands as belonging to fire: red-haired knights, kings and pages; green buds issuing from staves (inner flame or life force). Still, each and every card has depth and character. Nothing about this deck is dreary, including rendered meanings.

I rarely open the box, and when I do it is mostly to admire the artwork, rather than conduct a metaphysical assay. Imagine the gilt leaded crystal in your fine china cabinet--that glass set you take out on maybe one dinner party a year, and you will have an idea of what I'm talking about. The backs of the cards are gilt bordered, with fine floral scrolling. You will not be disappointed.

Hands down, the best book I have on big game rifles and ammunition. Maybe I could be a bit more objective if it didn't literally save my sanity when I was delayed for over two hours in a traffic jam. Book in hand I never moved from my seat or glanced at the stalled traffic or my watch. In my opinion, this is the purest measure of quality. Does the book entertain, educate, engage and involve the reader? Is the information based on the author's own experience and research rather than armchair theory? In Safari Rifles the answers are clear and I find them increasingly rare as the years go by. This is a comprehensive guide for new and old enthusiasts on the practical use of hunting rifles in Africa ranging from the smallest caliber's working up to recently introduced seven hundred Nitro Express. Boddington also takes the time to give us the historical roots of the more popular rifles and offers sensible advice on their modern day applications. As a way of reminding the reader that he is a hunter first and gun-nut second, he interjects a good measure of his own field experience giving his observations extra credibility, not that they need it. I would recommend this title to anyone who uses a rifle. The information offered is current, accurate and thoroughly entertaining

this has to be the best book to have on any bedside tale for anyone with an interest in big game hunting and rifles, it is very informative and will go a long way in helping you to choose your next rifle should you be planning a hunt. I have decided on a 416 rigby bolt action rifle which gets more than its fair share of good reviews and hope this book will help in the planning of your next safari.

The best look at modern rifles and today's African scene there is.

I could not put it down, and read it cover to cover in one night. After that it became a reference. The endless detail on calibers, cartridges and loads may put off some but it helped me choose a gun, gave me cartridge selection ideas and got me involved in a South African safari. It is a reference book that reads like a novel.

The premise for this book is articulated beautifully via words borrowed from Isaac Newton: 'If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.' Finally, there is a resource for the business community that will help us all to see ourselves, and our real business dilemmas/solutions more clearly. Jim Dickie and Barry Trailer have done a masterful job, distilling information and presenting the golden nuggets of wisdom gained through our collective experience. A immediate must-read and resource to have on hand!

If your industry is haunted by excess capacity, slack demand, and disruptive technological advances, this book is a must read.

Dickie and Trailer's ability to find, extract, and assemble entrepreneurial innovation in sales and marketing helped me identify why some players, both big and small, have achieved sales growth in a difficult environment.

A great book to take on the road.

This book contains refreshing, real-life experiences from some top industry pros. The subjective, first-person testimonials are ultra-effective at driving some of the theory around sales management and CRM home for both the novice and experienced reader. Jim Dickie and Barry Trailer highlight these experiences without being heavy-handed. A must for your sales and marketing library!

This book is "simply" a collection of 39 interviews of executives with an introduction by the authors (they are also interviewees #38 and #39). There is little in the way of analysis or even commentary. But the firsthand perspectives from these accomplished executives make it a fascinating read.

I was disappointed by the light coverage of marketing-specific topics--most of the content deals with sales and CRM. Also, the authors did not provide an index which is annoying--particularly given the nature of the content.

I keep dipping into this book - it's a brilliant, eclectic collection of the thoughts and ideas of a bunch of sales and marketing people who are at the cutting edge of selling today - doing it now,wrestling with the problems of selling in a downturn. The format's unusual - direct reporting of what these people think is important - in no particular topic order. The authors don't claim to present "universal truth" but everyone should find some good ideas thatthey can use and if you are looking for a an answer to a specific problem you can browse the index for a synopsis of each contribution. The authors want us to come away with a dozen ideas to explore in our business. Jim Dickie's and Barry Trailer's own contributions are packed with insight; these two pieces alone are worth the price of the book.

When you finish this book, you will discover additional questions about yourself and others.. but besides the questions you will have answers ,on the why you or your friends or significant other acts the way they do. very thoughtful is this book. besides once you have been cube'd you can cube others!

This is a wonderful book. It is extremely accurate. I highly recommend it. Once you cube someone, you are given an inside look at who they are, and why they act the way they do. It is also a wonderful look inside yourself. I highly recommend this book.

I have benefited greatly from "Secret of the Cube"- I like to cube new friends, it really helps me to communicate and understand people better- very helpful! This book is also good for understanding youself too, and personal improvement.

This game is so much fun! You learn things about people that you never knew... heck, you learn things maybe *they* didn't even know. My friend introduced me to it and ever since then, I've "Cubed" everyone I know. It's lots of fun to do with new friends as well.

I have read and collected quite a library of psychology and esoterical books on many subjects and approaches involving personal/spiritual development and exploration. This book is one of the few that I've encountered that is extremely accurate, no matter who you use it with. It contains great insight, in a straight-forward way, into yourself, life and relationships. It is very thorough in it's approach, yet still leaves room for personal interpretation - a must in my own book. For though another may help guide us, we ourselves always contain the true keys. And this book even contains references and examples of others who have played the game, including named celebrities, and impressions of interpretations from others. Very helpful for referencing the games you will encounter yourself after reading this book.

Every person I've ever used this book with has absolutely loved the game and has found it immeasurably helpful. We've even had disucssion groups and all-night philosophical pursuits after playing the game. It's hard to tire of it. And it still leaves room for continued exploration into the world of visualization, personal reflection and development; an ancient art - that is yet still very alive and meaningful.

I have seen this book listed and recommended even by spiritualists, though it is marketed as a psychology book and has also been listed on recommended lists from a more scientific approach.

I personally recommend this book for anyone. Rare would be the personality who would not enjoy this book, as the game and its exploration is so intriguing. I first purchased this book on a whim, not entirely knowing what it was about - and have NEVER ever regretted it.
