Kudos to chris paice for this outstanding book, which had me enthralled from start to finish. I found the parts about the Information Retrieval Colloquium particularly exciting. Chris Paice is incredibly perceptive and his theories about array retrival methods in the 4th dimension are particularly mind-spazzing.

Our company database was updated with all the latest data within one hour of receiving the CD. Now the CD is permanently available on the network as a reference. Underpriced, but let's not tell them...

The best book out in the market for AS400 programmers trying to figure out how to connect to the AS400 from their PC. I like all of the different ways explained in the book.

Alan Simon has written a concise planning guide for developing a data mart using the RAD principles for which Cambridge Technology Partners is well known. Alan also is quick to point out for which other kinds of databases this approach is not applicable. The book provides a good check list for the obvious and not-so-obvious tasks and events that occur in data mart development.

This book is a little gem! I'm using this book for a class I'm taking on algebraic specification of data types.
The author uses Guttag's manner of specifying abstract data types, using signatures/functors. Works through validation and verifications, demonstrating how you can garantee that your code is mathematically sound. SML is almost perfect for that.
The powers for abstraction that SML supports shines through the book, showing how this language can be used, at the very least, for rapid, accurate prototyping, if not outright deployment. Nowdays, claiming SML (or its OO variant - OCaml) is "slow"is very much nonsense.
This is a great complement to your SML programming, functional programming skills, or even a nice set of skills to have for general programming, even if you don't deploy functional languages but want to be able to quickly and correctly specify abstract data types.

This Book was truly one of those books that I just hung on to. It was precise to the point, and had a good approach to the problems and issues. The Solutions were short and efficient and made me re examine my own code at times. Chris is a good technical writer and knows exactly what developers really want/need!

Access 2000 Essential Course is a good book to learn Access, first it starts off with some basics of Access like file managing, and it gets into more deeper into more advance with buttons and tables. It breaks everything down so even a novice can understand Access, and it does not confuse you in any way possible. Access is a good program (and a plus) to have for work, and this book gives you the needs and skills to configure a lot of data into tables. A good book, and defintely worth getting for your Office training.

As with the Basics book, interesting examples, lots of stuff to help you along, plus neat tips and pitfalls. Good CD for practice. Builds on what's covered in the first book. You get the feeling that you are really becoming good at a very difficult program! Can't wait to get the 3rd book, which wasn't out when I got the first two.

Este libro es excelente para tener al lado de la computadora mientras se trabaja en una base de datos. Principalmente tuve la necesidad de hacer una tabla con varias consultas y el libro me guio entre las varias herramientas que se pueden aplicar, para facilitar una busqueda. Pude guiarme en Access sin necesidad de recurrir a la ayuda del programa.

The Dummies series lives on and this small desktop companion is a handy reference. If you're a Dummies series fan, you may benefit more by spending a little extra on this book's big brother "Access 2002 for Dummies" because it goes into more depth than the brief introductions in the "Quick Reference" version.
