"I Don't Like Mosquitoes!" by Michael Ambrosio is the children's picture book story of Poochiegrass, an energetic golden retriever puppy who has a run in with some very aggressive and nasty mosquitoes! Poochiegrass must use his cleverness and quick thinking to outwit the swarm, by devising a glue trap with a decoy. The vibrant illustrations by Bob Langan feature extremely bold color and entertainingly shapes, and enhance this enthusiastically told and highly recommended tale.

If one author has really made an impression on my 3 yr old son it is Jerry Palotta. His books are informative, funny, easily digestible and most have fantastic illustrations. He also has a great way of including hidden numbers or words on many of the pages. You will enjoy these books as much as your kids!!

Ida is a cute little spider, who wears eight red shoes, a spiffy blue hat, and is searching for a suitable place to build her house. The queen Bee tells her she needs to see Mr. Mouse. On her journey she encounters a colony of red ants, all wearing bright blue pants. She next comes across a family of flees, jogging on a dog. Six lady bugs are having a party, all eating hearty. No one seems to have time to give her information as to where to find Mr. Mouse.
She perseveres even though she is tired and thirsty and has eight sore feet. Finally she comes upon a little brown church. Looking inside she sees twelve mice, raising their voices in song. Three blind mice are playing their flutes, all led by Mr. Mouse. Mr. Mouse welcomes Ida and leads her to a raspberry field, where soft breezes blow. Ida immediately sets to work and in just six minutes her web is finished. She enjoys her new home as she sips raspberry tea.
Ida's New Home is colorfully illustrated by Shawn Hart, a 2005 high school graduate. Your child will enjoy this talented, young man's charming drawings. Ida's New Home is written in rhyme, it's colorful and funny, a delight to read. It will become one of your child's favorite stories.

This book depicts the ultimate game of hide and seek. If your children love the world of wildlife they will find this simple story of mother Tawny Frogmouth (a type of Nightjar) searching for food for her young absolutely enthralling.
This incredible bird can make herself almost invisible when perched on a tree thanks to her marvellous powers of camouflage. As she swoops through the forest in search of insects, frogs and moths she discovers that her fellow creatures have also very cunning ways of disappearing from predators. It's all to do with the skill of blending into the surroundings.
Children will love searching through each picture trying to locate the creature that was clearly visible just on the previous page. Stick insects, beetles and spiders are all lurking in the forest. It takes a keen eye to spot them.
At the back of the book there is a set of key drawings locating all the hidden creatures. There are also 2 pages describing the science of Crypsis: the trickery of camouflage and disguise. This book will appeal to all ages from young children discovering nature through to college students studying zoology and ecology
This book won the 1998 "Picture Book of the Year " awarded by the "The Children's Book Council of Australia". Read this book and you will understand why.
