who keep a journal and to those who don't, to those
who are fascinated with insects and to those who feel
insects are repugnant. This book is an eye-opener,
a thought-provoker, a consciousness-expander.

The story is about a bug whose father is a garbage man and he is ashamed. Great story about being proud of whatever job you choose to do and not worrying about what others think. Excellent line from the story "...because what I do, doesn't make me any better or any worse that I already am..." As a grown up, I like it because it encourages children to be whatever that want to be when they grow up and accept others.

This is our 5th David Carter "BUGS" pop-up book. My son loves these pop-up books since he was 6 months old (now 15 months) and wants them all the time. They are evan better than "The Wheels on the Bus" book, but more compact. Not only are these books alot of fun for both parent and child but educational as well. We have this particular one for our travel bag and they are always a special treat, especially because our son can hold it in his little hands. They are nicely put together and brightly colored. You will not be disappointed I guarantee!

The ideas in the book are creative and original. It is hard to decide which craft to do first. My kids really enjoy these books and I have lots of other craft books but we always end up picking something out of the "wild about" series.

This is a very captivating book for young readers. It has lovely sparkles and the words are rhythmic. It is engaging and a fun experience to read this with a kid. My parrot Snoopy Phoenix Mulberry loves to read this book along with me and he has most of it memorised!

I've never been a big fan of historical fiction in the past. My mind has been changed after reading Crazy Spider. It was a fascinating account of a Russian royal family and the revolution chaos prior to Communism in Russia. I found the book to be thoroughly captivating and a quick read.

This book was great for my young preschoolers. The true photos were fantastic, and the simple vocabulary was still very informational. The book was too long to read to my 4 year olds in one sitting. However, it is divided into sections that are easily read two or three at a time. This book has many true close up pictures of insects in all stages of its life cycle.

This is a very informative, simple to read book. It is perfect for grades k-5.

I thought that the pictures give all the information about these creatures a whole new meaning. I think photographs, especially the real thing makes it so much more interesting and intriguing to young children. Theory often is not as catching as the visual and sensory aspect of science and nature learning

A fantastic book very much along the lines of Sigurd Olson's brilliant nature prose and yet not far from Aldo Leopold's writings. A must if you like or have any interest in sound or insects. You'll never listen to the world outside the same way again!!
