This is an amazing account of the way God blesses his children who dare to spend time seeking Him with their whole heart. The miracles of gold dustings and healings are prevalent and very real. The experiences encountered make one hungry for more of God's manifest presence. God longs to bless His people and this book is a testimony to that fact. God is making his presence known in ways that cannot be explained away by skeptics.

The signs were well done. I have a Daycare in my home and the kids would sign with me until their arms would get tired and they would lay down and watch and listen and start up again when their arms felt better. With a story like this that the kids are familar it makes then want to learn to sign more and more of it. My kids will sign parts of it to their father is knows very little about sign, but is learning happily. It was an excellent purchase for us.

A must read for students of medieval jurisprudence and for all those with an interest in either the history of law or of heraldry. The edition of Bartolo's text is fastidious and the translation is fluid, nuanced, and nearly flawless. The introductory material makes a good case for Bartolo's not knowing Hebrew nor having been given the right to bear his arms by the emperor. And after all these years, the hilarious letter by Valla is more an indictment of Valla's arrogance, predilection for invective, and ahistorical viewpoint than of Bartolo's "bad" Latin.

The Great Cavern of the Winds is an engaging set of tales that is an absolute delight. Each of the 15 imaginatively illustrated chapters tells the story of a different make-believe character who plays a singular part in the magical unfolding story of Backbone Mountain. Each short chapter is a complete story in itself, so when bedtime comes, mom or dad can repeat at the end of a chapter the words of The Great Cavern of the Wind's storyteller, Esseldorf: "It will have to wait until another time..."
I found myself moved by the obvious love the author has of the mountain on which she lives, the sheer poetry she uses when she speaks of the wind, the starry sky and all the wild beings that surround her, even the music of the trees as they move. I felt it most in the closing lines of a chapter when the Indians tell their much later version of the same story and speak of the "millions of colored stars (that) rose up from the mountain top and uncovered the sun." Such moments are sprinkled throughout the book and contribute to a read that is heart-stoppingly beautiful and more than a set of charming tales - it is a love song with life that both children and adults will enjoy together.

A scholarly study of the connections between hearing and deafness in theater

Hearing Difference: The Third Ear In Experimental, Deaf, And Multicultural Theater by Kanta Kochhar-Lindgren (Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Program at the University Of Washington) is a scholarly study of the connections between hearing and deafness in theater that pushes the boundaries of experimentation, as well as deaf and multicultural theater. Applying the model of the "third ear" to cross-sensory listening through sound, silence, and moving body performance, Hearing Difference deconstructs works of playwright Robert Wilson, the National Theatre of the Deaf, and Asian American director Ping Chong, as well as tracing the evolution of theatre of the third ear from the mid-1800s to the 1960s. An intensely scholarly close study of the systems that permeate theater, especially those that most strongly distinguish and transcend it from the audio-focused realm of the radio play, Hearing Difference is especially recommended for college library and Drama Department reference shelves.

I got this book early from Southern New Hampshire University's book store, as I am a student there. Dr. Gunzelmann was one of my professors and is currently my advisor. I used to be an education major, but recently switched to psychology. While reading this book, my first thoughts were about how some of the chapters in her book related to me when I was in high school and middle school. I also remembered other people I knew in school that had some of the problems Dr. Gunzelmann addressed.
In this book,Hidden Dangers: Subtle Signs of Failing Schools, Dr. Gunzelmann addresses many issue that are happening in our schools, some of which people would never have thought of. Dr. Gunzelmann even offers simple ideas to help the children, parents, teachers, just about everyone to change the schools for the better.
The book is straight forward, yet polite, and will make you want to re-read it just to get the information you might have missed, as it made the wheels turn in my head after every single word I read.
Definitly a must read for anyone who has a child, wants a child, and/or is involved in schools in any way, shape, or form.
