Signs Books

This is an excellent book on secret signs and secret symbols.It is not an academic book,by any means.Yet,it's loaded with the mystical symbols of the world,from the past and still used in the present.If you ever wondered about the meaning behind a particular symbol element ,this book gives a good interpretation of the sign.I think in the years to follow,this encyclopedia will gain in popularity among wiccans,pagans and magickians.My only wish is that more of the definitions were longer.But,the book is already at 700 pages long.It covers most,if not all, of the ancient symbols from around the world.If you're an occultist,how could you not be satisfied after slowly disgesting this book? I have to say ,that i really enjoyed investigating this exciting and charming book.

I've never heard of this author, but I'm so glad I tried out his book anyway. I love Elisha, and Greg Haslam brings out some really thought-provoking and always inspirational teachings on his life. The book is a practical look at how Christians should minister to the world, and his writing style is so lively, vivid and quotable. Definitely not dry anaylsis but passionate lessons for living the faith. I highly recommend it and plan on re-reading it over and over and keeping it on my special shelf of my favorite spiritual books.

This is a great book for the aspiring medical student. I found myself hooked and had the ability to quiz myself.

This book is one fat mother. It is 3700 pages long, and it is chock full of stories and poems and illustrations and aphorisms that can be sprinkled liberally in sermons. They organized by themes, and the themes are in alphabetical order. For example, under B you have Bible, Bible (study of), birth, boredom, books, buy and sell, etc.

I can almost always find something in this book to season a speech or a sermon. Some books emphasize corny jokes or catchy slogans, but this book has more consistently useful material than any other book of its kind, and that includes similar collections assembled by Nelson Publishing and Chuck Swindoll. Buy this, and get it on CD-Rom if you can, because this book will give you a hernia!

I have had a copy of this book for several years, and I thought Mr. Tan had a published a new and larger version; but, alas, apparently not. I would encourage any preacher to try to get hold of this book, even a used one if possible. It makes for great reading all on its own, and covers almost every area of life you can think of. All I can say is that it is incredible.

I was ready to teach sign language to my daughter but I didn't know where to begin so I bought three different books including this one. All of the books taught me some things but I think this book was the easiest to use. It has a lot of signs and tells you when to introduce them to your baby and it has photos of the signs plus a DVD to show you how each one is done. That was really helpful. The only sign my daughter has done yet is milk but I know she'll be doing more soon.

Sarah Bartlett has outdone herself this time! Her insights into the art and science of seduction are sublime, unsurpassed. Uberstunning. Ubergiggles. Uberlovely.

I am writing my MA thesis on the connection between the visual arts and theatre and found Esslin to be highly engaging. I was very impressed with his approachability. There was never a moment when I felt like I didn't understand what he was talking about. Time after time, Esslin provides an idea and then supplies numerous examples to give evidence to why he thinks that way. I strongly recommend this book for anyone studying drama and how language, movement, lighting, and even silence develop meaning on the stage.

I've spent so much time trying to find a book like this. Finding Signs is about the potential for adventure in life. Set in the 70s, it is similar in style to On The Road, but Finding Signs, written by a woman, delves far deeper into the philosophy behind the archetypal wanderer. This book is truly a masterpiece and I am crushed that Sharlene Baker has not written anything else.

I THINK THIS BOOK IS EXCELLENT FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO LEARN TO SIGN. ITS GREAT FOR BEGINNERS, BUT ALSO ADVANCED USERS. I FOUND IT VERY CHALLENGING TO LEARN HOW TO SIGN BUT THIS BOOK WAS VERY HELPFUL, AND I RECOMMEND IT TO PEOPLE OFALL AGES WHO WISH TO LEARN TO SIGN. I NOW HAVE MANY DEAF FRIENDS, BECAUSE AFTER I USED THIS BOOK, I VISITED MANY DEAF PEOPLE AND BECAME FRIENDS WITH THEM. IT IS A GREAT BOOK AND HAS HELPED ME FOUND GREAT FRIENDSHIPS.
