I found this book well written and exciting to read. The plot was well thought out and presented. At times it became so intense that I had to put the book away for awhile before I could continue to read, but then I would have to get back to it to find out what was going to happen next. I thought it was a great read and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys murder mysteries.

Book of Shadows with Dianic Goddess Cover Design
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-24
This is a quality hardbound blank book with ivory pages. This is one of various cover designs that publishers Abyss Distribution produced, beginning about 2000. The book is primarily intended for recording personal rituals, spellwork, and other magical workings that an individual or "coven" might want to document. The quality is archival and suitable for presentation.

The cover art is hot embossed gold, this volume being one of the Goddess Diana, probably a favorite for Dianic and Dianic Feminist traditions. Cover art is the kneeling Goddess drawing her bow- wolf at her side, encircled, partly within stretched wings of an owl or wren (sacred symbol). The iconic image spans more than half of the cover. There is a small similar stamp on the spine.

I obtained copies of this book as well as the various wiccan and egyptian versions because I believe the quality ensures a lasting record, when using the best quality archival inks. I particularly like the egyptian cover art: Goddess Maat, God Thoth, the Eye of Ra, and the Ankh. There are also covers with a Triple Moon symbol, a Triquetra, or a Pentacle, all well done and repeated on the spine.

Because this book is solidly bound blank pages, it requires some pre-planning before beginning to record your information. You will get the best use out of this book if you take time to divide it initially by topics you plan to write about or record. I recommend taking time to insert loose pages to section the book, as best you can to give it some index for the eventual content. Basic indexing will make your project easier to reference when filled, and more appreciated by others who may someday peruse your Book of Shadows.

I recommend these books, though they are increasingly very difficult to obtain, and none have been reprinted to date.

The cover art is hot embossed gold, this volume being one of the Egyptian Goddess Maat. This is my favorite of all designs, Maat with the "Feather of Truth" kneeling with her outstretched wings. The artwork symbolisn is true to the subject, very well executed. It is a beautiful volume with an abundance of reflective gold in a crisp and clean rendering. The iconic image spans nearly 2/3 of the cover. There is a small similar stamp on the spine.

The cover art is hot embossed gold, this volume being one of the Gold Pentacle design, a magical symbol in use for centuries in practice of christian and pagan beliefs. It has many associations with the Tarot. There are various documented meanings and uses, but in the current era the symbolism is commonly associated with magical evocation. References include Solomon the King; Ceremonical Magic; Hermeticisim; Wiccan and Neopagan groups, the Golden Dawn and Masonic Rituals. The iconic image spans more than 1/3 of the cover.
