This is an amazing story of encouragement and I strongly recommend that everyone read it. As a Family Assistance Crisis Team member for S.A.P.D., I saw this type of abuse that many women suffer on a daily basis. The author helps illustrate what a victim's world is like and reaches into the character's soul. I feel this piece is a great contribution to raising awareness of domestic & family violence.

I just read Jacqueline's short story and just had to write a review. If you know someone who suffers domestic violence, works with domestic violence victims, is sensitive to domestic violence issues or are a victim yourself, it's a "must read". Ms. Mendez offers victims advice, without being preachy. She seeks to empower victims to take control of their lives to end the cycle of abuse.

I congratulate Jaqueline Mendez on this excellent story about physical and emotional abuse towards women. This was a topic that was taboo for too long and so many individuals suffered defenseless because they felt that was their destiny. So many others have died at the hands of a merciless person without ever having the chance to seek help. Many will relate with the author's story and celebrate the fact that things are changing and women and children now stand a better chance to get help and
save themselves towards a better future and having the freedom to find their "shadows to call their own". The author's story tells only part of her devotion to bring this topic to our attention. Her continuous efforts to continue helping those who may be in such crises is evident in all her
current activities.

Erin Collins has written an epic story about generations of strong women - and their men- carrying us into the depths of evil: the devil and his vile kingdom. At Tanas Global Lab in the desert of New Mexico, terrible experiments are carried on, that if known by the general public, they would be horrified.
Lucifer himself is seeking the perfect body of a young lady to mate with and bear him a son who will rule this world, become its "God".
Somehow, SIR- as he likes to be called- begins to sense that the perfect hybrid is already `out there' and the frantic search begins. The mother and babe must evade the clutches of the detestable pursuer at all costs.
It's a wonderful, exciting story with shades of The Omen and Rosemary's Baby, but Ms. Collins has made it all her own. Highly recommended by this reader!

This novel has one of the most chillingly evil protagonists I've come across. He raises "goose bumps" when I think of him. Plenty of heroes and heroines to give hope for a triumphant outcome, but still one does wonder.
While it is an "End Times" novel it is definitly not in the usual stereotypical style.
As a child coming of age during World War II, the portrayal of events of that era are very well researched, from clothing style to victory gardens.
The romance between Ethan and Danielle captured my emotions. Their heartbreaking struggle against evil is a page turner. Other characters are as finely drawn as these two, keeping the suspense alive until the last page and beyond.

In today's world, fiction and reality appear to be merging toward an uncertain future. So it is with Shadow walk: The Gathering, the first of a trilogy based upon an insidious past and present with the terror of ominous days ahead. This book takes the reader back through decades ago, where the seeds of evil germinate and simmer in a cauldron of biblical prophesy, and intrigue as deceptive as `The DaVinci Code'. Some of the lab experiments written about in this fast-paced novel are already being whispered about and covered up by scientists, government and power mongers. Will humanity look the other way as horrors and the things nightmares are made of come to fruition? Erin Collins addresses the eternal question. Can evil, at long last, overcome good, while the world complacently ignores the many signs and evidence of a terrifying new world? With a touch of the sinister movie, `Rosemary's Baby,' Collins will shock readers with her compelling tale--while leaving them impatient for . . . the rest of the story. A must read.

Well, I at first was dissapointed that this wasnt a Jason Johnson book. SO with a little hesitation i started reading and just couldnt put it down!!! I read it in one sitting!!! Once again Michael Salazar has proven himself. From the first book i read Lucifer Light(which he gave my mother to give to me when they meet before i went into the Army) to Drop Zone(gift as well from M.S.) and War Angel, Michael Salazar is one of the best military authors, in the same league as Clancy and Griffin.

Don't pass up this one!

Odd Banana was prompt in their service, much quicker than Amazon has been on an item I ordered at the same time. The product was well packaged and was in great condition. Their description of the product matched exactly what was sent.
I would definitely consider doing business with them again in the future.

The Shadow is one of the most fondly remembered shows from the golden age of radio. Even many who are not radio buffs recognize the name and what it stood for. And what it stood for was entertainment the likes of which will never be heard again. It was a theatre of the imagination. For years families would gather around the radio and be caught up in the adventures of Lamont Cranston and Margo. This great collection makes a nice addition to any radio buff's home.

There are 20 shows in all, and it is available in both cassette and cd format. Orson Welles is represented on 4 shows, Brett Morrison on 7, John Archer on 1, and Bill Johnstone, my personal favorite, on 8. I have owned this and listened to every show on more than one occasion. While it is not quite as encompassing as the larger boxed collection I have reviewed, it is still a must have for fans of radio's greatest show.

This great collection comes with a stunningly researched booklet by Anthony Tollin, who uses a number of sources, including John Dunning's fine book, to give a far-reaching look at the history of radio's greatest man of mystery as he appeared in print, on radio, and in film. There are marvelous program notes on each episode included in the booklet and photos of many of the key players. Those key players included the many voices of Margo Lane.

Over the years, Lamont's constant companion, Margot Lane, would be portrayed by Agnes Moorehead, Margot Stevenson, Marjorie Anderson, Judith Allen, Lesley Woods, and Grace Matthews. Margot Stephenson was the beautiful Broadway actress who had actually inspired the character of Margot Lane.

There are many outstanding shows in this attractively packaged set, and while I would have to rate the sound quality on a couple of these shows a B or B-, that is still excellent considering their age. A few minor adjustments to your stereo will allow you to enjoy every minute of every show. The overall quality of the 20 shows is quite good, and the entertainment value is priceless.

This greatest of mediums has sadly passed from popularity, but for those who either remember it, or have just begun to discover it, this Shadow collection is essential.

Well, I thought I was a fan of The Shadow radio shows from the 1930's. I've heard a bunch, and own a bunch, and in this box set here's only two I've heard before--"Prelude to Terror," about a loony who concocts exploding light bulbs and plants them in strategic buildings. [..] then there's "Reflection of Death," about a mirror from Inferno itself--or is it now? Many of these feature Bill Johnstone as the Shadow, and believe me, he may have been the best of any of the men who played that role. Each man brought his own flair to the role. the one I like least is kid Orson Welles, who hadn't yet panicked America and made his name forever. When these shows were made, he was still riding by ambulance from show to show--no joke, he did just that. This is money well spent.

I haven't read the rest of the series -- I picked this book up at random and read it, and now I'm dying to get the rest! The story's pretty darn unique, and the characters -- especially lusty, hot-blooded, death-machine Sh'kaira -- are awesome. This is not your average adventure story.

I want to know how Megan and Sh'kaira met, how the rest of the family came together. I want to read the full account of Sova's adoption, and of Megan's son's birth and sale, and Megan's escape, and -- yeah. You get the idea! It's one of those "read it and you're hooked" books. I advise you to get a copy (of the whole series) immediately!

A great addition to the Fifth Millenium Series

Shadow's Son gives people who have read previous Fifth Milennium novels a long-awaited look at Megan and Shkai'ra's family--not their separate childhood families, but the family they have forged for themselves as adults. The character of Sova particularly appealed to me, probably because her "outsider's perspective" on Shkai'ra is refreshingly honest. Definitely worth a read for the populace at large, *highly* recommended to 5th Mil fans.

Gloria Vando's second collection of poetry, Shadows & Supposes explores themes of love, loss, personal, global, and family history. Drawn from such diverse elements as the remnants of Europe in the wake of World War II, to her daughter's encounter with death at the Museum of Natural History, these are verses that reflect a mature and articulate voice pondering ultimate questions, finding purpose in tragedy, and underscoring the ultimate worth of love. Crossings: They bombed the Mostar today,/an ancient bridge in Bosnia,/smoothed by centuries of pedestrians//crossing the river. When I crossed it/years ago, I had to hang on/with both hands--one to the railing,//the other to my husband's extended grip--to keep from/slipping off its marble-slick incline,//so slick it reminds me now/of Saint Peter's bronze statue,/the toes eroded by millions//of caressing hands crossing/that threshold of faith--a foot/I vowed I would not touch, but did--//and this war, all wars, suddenly/ambushed by two abraded images:/one small bridge, one little foot (--for Pat Breed).

Finally, a voice of conscience and intelligence! These are wonderful poems, especially the narratives, which are filled with pathos and humor. One in particular is one sentence but four pages long, and ends as it began wth the word "potato"! Another is about a father dangling his son over the edge of the Liberty Memorial to teach him the meaning of "trust." And there are delightful shape poems--a high-heeled shoe, a baseball diamond, and even a "mirror" poem--with two parts facing in opposite directions. Some poems of bigotry and war (very timely). And love. And tributes to friends in poetry and the arts. I loved it.

It's a pity someone either doesn't put out a new edition of this book or produce a new book along the same lines. This book is an excellent reference on the airwar aspects of the Biafran War, an important part of the war as much of the outside aid received by Biafra was from the air. Also, one of the ways Nigeria routinely outmatched the Biafrans was with their federal air force, which received considerable Soviet and East German assistance.

Well illustrated this book is a "must have" for anyone attempting to complete their collection on the Biafran conflict.

This book could serve as the master template for future books on air warfare and its associated civil aviation involvement. When reading and looking at this book I was immediately wondering which other conflicts should be devoted a book like this: the 1960s conflicts in Zaire/Congo, the Libyan arm airlift in the 70s, the Vietnam War (Air America/World etc.), etc. The quality of the information and the photographs are outstanding. A definite "to buy" book.

Once again, W.G. Raetz demonstrates that he's about to break through to become one of the most respected authors of this genre.

With wit, exellent pacing, and living characters, Shadows and Secrets is a book that you'll want to keep near you whenever you're in the house--you never know when you'll have a free moment, and the last thing you'll ever want to do is leave a story half read. The only problem, if it can be called that, is that one runs out of stories much more quickly than one ought to. What I had planned to read over a period of a few weeks, quickly turned into a reality of a few hours.

With his new book now on the market, I finally have a legitimate reason to put this one down.

Keep goin', W.G!

"Shadows and Secrets" picks up where "Cloaked Mode" left off and continues to chronicle the espionage adventures of WEB Agents Attewelle and Terry. The book offers more action wrapped into more intriguing plots. The reader is in constant suspense as the cases unfold with surprises at every turn.

The travels of the WEB Agents to far away and dangerous lands are eloquently depicted by Raetz's inclusion of native tongue and local customs that fully envelopes the reader. Raetz has also intricately woven the development of the characters as each story builds upon the previous stories, adding a glimpse into the lives of the WEB Agents outside the Bureau.

"Shadows and Secrets" is full of twists and turns with a bit of wit added into the mix.

SHADOWS IN THE DANCE, the sequel to DANCING ALONE by Debi Baxter, once again lives up to expectations. SHADOWS IN THE DANCE brings our heroine, Shea Kinkead, forward after a five year sabbatical of celibacy. Unsatisfied and fearful of becoming a driven, corporate woman without purpose, reason and being alone, Shea Kinkead moves her life forward. A much needed vacation to England reveals her innermost desires-desires for love and tender sexual gratification-gratification found with Ian, a mere gardener. Or is he something more? A two week whirlwind, exotic, sensuous, uncontrolled passionate romance begins and ends as quickly as a fleeting breath of air, as Shea returns to the USA to pick up where she left off...Kinkead Electric Company. Despondent from leaving her love in England Shea tries to encounter Kinkead Electric Company with enthusiasm. Noting mismanagement of funds sends Shea to investigate embezzlement, raging and maniacal outbursts from an employee, stalking, death and resolve. Pulling herself from a quagmire of personal fluctuations, Shea realizes the love she has for Ian is real and remembers a quote from her two week stay in England, "Life is short, my love. You'll blink your eyes and suddenly find you're my age. Don't let happiness slip you by. Nothing is more important than to do what you love and love what you do." This time Shea will reap the ultimate goal...true love.

Toward the end of this book a special bond is formed between three people....that goes way further than the book itself and for that I am so grateful to Debi for keeping some precious memories alive thru the pages of this special book.
