An extremely well presented atlas of a significant artist

This compilation of Jeanette Pasin Sloan's paintings display the aesthetics of her color and form together with an interesting twist on the common place subject matter. Equally interesting is the biographic sketch impacting her maturation as an accomplished, well-recognized artist.

--A VERY ENJOYABLE ATLAS OF GORGEOUS PAINTINGS THAT HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY WELL PRESENTED.

Underscored with an informative text by Gerrit Henry

The artwork of Jeanette Pasin Sloan's took a distinctly contemporary approach to design and color, employing strong forms, vertiginous arrangements of patterned fabrics, and distorting reflections. Her work also evolved from a use of complex patterning through a period of brilliant color to the elegant formal brio and subtle tonalities. During the 1980s, she did a series of still lifes using brand-name consumer items reflecting the interests and tastes of that materialistic decade. An outstandingly presented contribution to any personal or academic art history collection, Jeanette Pasin Sloan's work is underscored with an informative text by Gerrit Henry that combines biography, description of her working methods, and a critical analysis of her accomplishments.

(i'm spanish so is difficult to express in words my full excitement)I readed it 5 days ago, this Colin is a Genius drawing..lots of laughts with the pirates (motorist-like sometimes) modern-humour jokes as: 'censored'in a speech baloon, or the face and look of one pirate asking: 'what's a comb?(i couldn't continue for some minutes with these ones),
also i learned(costed me MUCH to 'traduce') all the geordie style & jargon(i think is geordie style, no?)to live where i am now (top of england)one of my best-favourites(if not my best)

I had forgotten all about this book until I saw it listed here. I dug through all my old stuff in the basement, finally found it, and sat down, right there on the cold concrete floor of the basement, and read, right through. This book brought back a lot of memories. This was my favorite book when I was a youngster. Its still a fun read. Get it for yourself or your kids and you'll have fun time.

Great Adaption of The Big Lablooski

This novellization of The Big Lablooski was written by none other than Amy Keating Rogers - the writer of the episode! Not meaning to begrudge junior novellization authors their jobs, but I think this is a fantastic practice and I hope Cartoon Network encourages more of their writers to handle junior novellizations. This is excellently written, fast-paced and quirky.

Great intro to chapter books

This book, along with "House of Bloo's", was our son's first foray into true chapter books. My wife and I specifically picked books based on "Foster's", as he enjoys the show and we thought it would keep him focused.

It's hard for a printed book to capture the quirky humor of the show, but the writers did a good job in adaptation. All the funny parts of the TV episode are there, though it certainly helps to have seen the episode to appreciate the humor. Fortunately, whoever's responsible for the book's layout did a great job of including a judicious amount of stills and images. So even if you haven't seen the episode, you still get a nice visual representation of it.

And the book is written just long enough and with just enough five-dollar words to present a challenge to a 5-year old, but not so tough that reading becomes a frustration or the child is asking you for help on every other word.

I plan on buying all future chapter books in this series, or at least until my son's interest in the show starts to wane or he is no longer challenged by the reading level.

BTW - the title of the episode featured in the story is not "Let's Bowl". It's actually "The Big Lablooski". Just in case you wanted to Tivo it.

Learn From Children

Review Date: 2007-05-13
Adults have so very much to learn from children and this book is yet another lesson. All our lives as we are growing up, we hear things like no, don't do that, you can't possibly, it'll never happen... After hearing so much negative input, we come to adulthood with negative feelings about who we are and what we can accomplish in life.

The little boy in this book teaches us that it is our attitude that makes all the difference in our lives. Not happy? Everything in your life going wrong? Just can't succeed no matter how hard you try? Go back to childhood, my friend. Rediscover the unihibited possibilities in life, the joy, the feeling of I can do anything! The biggest lesson of childhood is that the possibilities in life are limitless - if we believe in ourselves.

This book teaches us that lesson simply, beautifully and joyfully. We but need to respond and believe.

I would recommend this book to everyone. Best book I've read since "The Polar Express"

One of the greatest childrens books ever.

A wonderful story about a little boy with a baseball and a bat and how being successful is just a point of view. The book is based on the Kenny Rogers video of the same name. I happened to see it by accident and loved it. I was delighted when the book was published and the CD of the song included with the book is just an added bonus. This book is sure to become a classic.

I have had many "Mad Libs" Books and this is one of the best ones. I laugh for each one I do. When I finish the book I erase the pages and start over again. It takes at least 2 people to make this book really fun. 1 person tells the adjectives, nouns, etc. and 1 person writes them down and reads the "short" story. What you do is for each "short story" you will have to write down an adjective, noun, adverb or whatever it tells you (you make one up) and when you do all the verbs and etc you fill in the blanks with them and the story will be hilarious every time!

L'ALPHABET

This book is fantastic. We bought "L'ALPHABET" and several other books so that my wife could begin to read to our young son in French. It is listed as a book for children from the ages of four to eight, but even a two year old (or younger) would enjoy the silly sentences ("Kk: Un kangourou fait du karate en kimono.") and the beautiful (and silly) illustrations that accompany them. Each page features a letter of the alphabet, a sentence in French that uses that letter several times, and an illustration. At the end of the book they translate all of the sentences as well as offer pronunciation guides for the letters of the alphabet and for French sounds. There is also a glossary of all of the words used in the book. We were looking for a book that would be instructive. We found it. We wanted a book that was interesting enough that I could enjoy and discuss the pictures with our son in English as well as my wife could in French. We found it. We wanted a book that would stimulate our child's imagination. We found it.

This book was hard to read sometimes. It is so full of assessment tools and helpful info that sometimes it was hard to admit or acknowledge that the issues of ministry were not just the "people" but me. Smile. I would reccommend this to all who are anticipating entering the pastorate or looking to sharpen their their skills as a leader of a congregation. It can also serve as a resource for ongoing training of ministers, pastors, bishops, etc. Full of useful and practical information. You won't be sorry.

A supportive and practical book!

A MUST FOR STANDARDIZING YOUR TRAINING

The Lean Manufacturing Training Set was purchased for use to standardize all our training platforms across all our divisions. Having over 200+ Power Point slides, as well as the ability to customize, print your own Participant Guides, as well as the Lean Jeopardy game, makes this a must for any organization. We have customized this to our organization, but has saved us considerable time in money in the process. We now use parts of it for our Lean Office projects.

GREAT SET OF LEAN TRAINING MATERIALS
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-25
I recently purchased the Lean Manufacturing Training Set at a Lean conference. The set included a Facilitator's Guide, 5 Participant Guides, 1 CD containing everything in Power Point so I could modify anything and print additional copies. It also included a detailed Lean simulation, along with a Lean Jeopardy game. The Power Point presentation included many examples of Lean tools in action. It is great to see how various Lean tools are used. I have customized this set to include many of our company examples. I am currently using this set to train over 1000 employees in our organization. This Training Set has saved me weeks, if not months, of my time in development. I recommend this to anyone that needs to train and implement Lean in an organization.
