My almost 4 year old loves this book. It has really helped him learn letters, numbers, writing and drawing! He will seek this book out and it keeps his attention. He loves it so much I had to buy new wipe clean pens! As mentioned, it does have the pen holder which is great.

My daughter (4 yrs) love to trace on this book. It's really very helpful for improving hand writing skills. No mess for parents you can wipe easily and reuse it as many times you like.

My two kids love these! We have the whole set

We have all four of this series and my kids love them.Wipe Clean Numbers (Wipe Clean),
Wipe Clean Things That Go (Wipe Clean),Wipe Clean Letters (Wipe Clean).
They started playing with them with some help at the age 3 and now at ages 4 & 6 they get them off the shelf and trace and erase by themselves. Great pre- writing activity. I highly recommend them. Nice activity for quiet times and the handy handel makes them easy to carry and take around the house or into the car for Dr. appts., resturants, car trips, etc. What I also like is that the pen snaps into a clip and stays secure. Most dry erase activities the pen is loose and of course gets lost.

Woman of the Cloth is a very good yarn; it captures you early on and doesn't release you until the very last page. The heroine is a refreshing new character--a committed cleric, a super sleuth and a winsome woman. All in all, it's a very novel novel.

A delightful and interesting read!

Mr. Herst has created a strong, intelligent, yet vulnerable character in Rabbi Gabby Lewyn. His insights into the politics and intrigues of a synagogue were of special interest to me.

Compelling, complex, and wonderful story about a woman rabbi

The author, a rabbi himself, and a previously published and accomplished novelist, really knows about Jewish congregations, rabbinical politics, women's issues, and how to tell a great story. This book is a terrific read and would make a great series. I cared alot about the main character, a throughly modern, very compelling and complex woman rabbi.

What beautiful writing! It's pointed out in the intro that, more than most of us, her world was shaped with WORDS. I've only read about four essays so far, and am profoundly touched. I've always admired Helen Keller, but am newly re-impressed with her wisdom and vision, and touched that she can write so clearly as to make me feel how little she felt limited by her handicap. If Helen Keller had simply learned to behave and ask politely for her food, etc, it would have been an impressive accomplishment. The fact that she grew to fully embrace her intelligence, her world and her potential . . . wow. I know so many people who are content to just do the bare minimum, to not stretch their limits at all, to not show any intellectual curiosity . . . she had the perfect excuse to exert the least effort, yet she didn't. Once she was given the key, the entree to humanity, she didn't let her handicaps stop her. I love that even all these years later, she is still able to share that.

Roger does a great job in this book, distilling everything we were supposed to have learned in English comp classes in high school and college, but forgot. The genius of this book is that it can be read in just a few minutes, yet have immediate positive impact on the output of your copy. If you've got less-experienced folks on your team, buy a few and spread them around. If you've got old-timers, give it to them as well. Even us old dogs can learn a few tricks from the book!

in volume 4 the age of apocalypse comes to an end in the issue xmen omega. however for some reason there are more issues included afterwards that really have little to do with AoA. the AoA series is great but i think these collections could have been better. they could have left out some of the stuff in volume one and all the stuff after xmen omega in volume 4 and made it into three volumes.

There are no real faults with this book. The Introduction is interesting. An essential book for those seriously interested in the Daoist Perspective.

An excellent translation of a very important document
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 1999-04-01
In my opinion, this document is of equal standing with the Chuang-Tzu and the Lieh-Tzu in importance, and as a compilation of thought, in a way more important as these documents as an overview of Taoist thought.

Having read a more obscure translation earler, I found this translation to be delightfully accessible and clear. There are excellent notes, summaries, explanations, and histories to compliment the document. I wish they had been present in the earlier translation I had dug up.

After reading the Tao Te Ching, read this before moving on to the Chuang-Tzu, Lieh-Tzu, or any other Taoist document. It's worth it - and in the spirit of Lao-Tzu, not too long or wordy.

Historically important and impeccably translated

Besides the Yuan Dao's enormous historical and philosophical value, the introduction to the Yuan Dao is the most important introduction to taoist thought that has been written in many years. It clearly defines the essential differences between the way Taoist and Western philosophies think.

This has been a great teaching text for neurology and psychiatry residents. In fact, I think my original copy was never returned by one.

Outstanding, concise - a must for neurologists!!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-09
While Devinsky is probably best known as an epileptologist, his knowledge of behavioral neurology is very clearly displayed in this very readable & concise book. 100 maxims takes the form of 100 facts in behavioral neurology, all concisely written, well researched, and authoritative. Clear neuropathologic and neuroanatomic substrates for numerous behavioral neurology syndromes (e.g., aphasia, visual agnosia, ideomotor apraxia, etc.) are discussed, with appropriate clinical examples. This is an excellent 'little' book, very concisely and densely written. It makes an excellent study guide for neurology residents, neuropsychiatrists, neuropsychologists - those preparing for boards, teachers in the fiels, and as a quick reference for experienced professionals. Highly recommended!

I bought this for my son when he was about one year old. He loves this book. He picks this among other books because it is big. Loves the pictures (very bright and clear pictures. The right number of pictures on each page) He points to each picture and asks us to name it. Or we play the "Where is..." game. He wants to read this everyday. A great way to increase his vocabulary. He can correctly point at a lot of animals now. There are not many BIG board books with real pictures out there. Atleast I havent found many.

My son's pediatrian has this book in her office and every time we go for a checkup he can not stop looking at it. All the other books in the office are nice but for some reason he seems to love this one. It might be its big size and/or all the bright colours but it works. I bought a copy few days after our last visit and since the book arrived he's been 'reading' it all the time. The itself has a lots of animals, plants, trains, cars, buses, etc. BTW, my son is 19 months right now. Great book for a toddler.

High performance planning blueprint

This book should be considered the new standard for high-performance coaching. Kaufman provides a solid, strategic, measurable framework to plan and achieve superior individual and team performance, moving the discipline fuzzy psicologysms to tangible, rational assessment and planning.
I recommend this book as a guideline and orientation tool for high potential performers. It will help them to set and achieve value-adding goals aligned with their organization and their organization's clients.

Simple, Effective and Life Changing

Review Date: 2006-05-01
Kaufman's new book should be on the desk of every executive, parent and student in the world. His approach to decision making is simple, effective and results oriented. The many tables, charts and exercises in the book, along with the anecdotes to better describe the concepts in the book, make this a book that can and should be read by everyone. When you think about how we all can positively impact society by making sound decisions, then implementing the actions of those decisions, and when we use the techniques in this book to help us achieve those lofty goals (and according to Kaufman, they are achievable), we all will create a better world for ourselves and our grandchildren. When you read this book, you'll find that positively impacting society through our decisions and behaviors is a course of action we all should and must take. Better decisions lead to a better life for all of us.
